Just wanted to get everyones view on Franchise play for both games. I'm leaning more towards ESPN because of the weekly prep and presentation.

I have both games.

Madden kills ESPN in terms of the franchise mode. That being said, it's possibly the most boring game I have ever played.

Madden's franchise mode is much, much, did I say much? better than ESPN, but I love ESPN's gameplay. Everytime I try to get into Madden's gameplay, I go back to ESPN.

Why did they release ESPN too soon? Friggin franchise mode is what kills the game for me - long term wise. I love the passing, running, presentation is the best ever in a video game, but the franchise blows.

Can people please post some in depth specifics about why you like Madden's franchise more? I don't play Madden so I'd love to know.

In ESPN the CPU controlled teams makes some questionable trades, releases and signings in franchise mode. Like someone on this board mentioned that Buffalo had the best record in the league and right before the trade deadline they traded Drew Bledsoe to the Saints for a defensive lineman. That type of senerio would never happen in real life. Matter of fact, hardly any trades happen in the regular season. You might see 1-2 small trades here and there but that's it. Madden has this type of frequency in franchise mode.

Also in Madden CPU controlled teams trade up in the college draft where you see no movement at all with CPU controlled teams.

Madden is just much deeper. The CPU teams ai is much better. I do like the ability to backload, frontload, balance, etc. contracts in ESPN's, but that's about it.

So for me it's Madden for single player, both for multiplayer, but probably ESPN a little more.
