Question about Editing Players...

This is kind of silly, but I like editing my favorite players equipment and what not from year to year just to keep the look of the game different and exciting. However, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do this in franchise in Franchise mode. I have tried editing the rosters in the main screen, saving them, and then loading the rosters before I load my franchise, but it hasn't worked. Does anyone know how to do this or is this not an option in 2K5?

You can only edit players before starting your franchise. Once it starts, all you can edit is jersey #s (and rookies).
