Problem throwing to the flats

There's been many occasions where on a passing play I've found my RB wide open in the flats. Yet it seems about 80% of the time the QB overthrows him. Even when I lob it the ball always wants to go to about 2-3 yards from the sideline, no matter where the RB was. I've practiced it in practice mode, even tried holding L1 for catch (not sure if this works). Even tried some maximum passing to keep the ball short but no luck.

Any adivce?

Re: Problem throwing to the flats

Easy to do. I'm using the Eagles as my franchise and I always throw flats to B. Westbrook.

The only way to throw shorter passes like flats and outs is to bullet it. Hold it longer than tap it. Holdin it too long will pump fake I think. It's easy though just throw a bullet.

It won't work if your QB's accuracy is low or the HB's catching is too low. But try that. It's easy.

It's a stupid glitch, it better be fixed next year. It really is a bummer as a Packer fan not to have the screen pass as an 95% option when they send the house. If the guy is open for a while, LOBBING the pass works more for me. I think the problem is that terrible momentum stuff kicks in when they try to cut upward.

If you drop back too much, then the completion rate is much lower.

As I said, don't lob it, bullet it. Throw it straight to him. Why throw it high.

REALLY?! WHY? Why do you want to give the D time to get to him? Get it to him quick so he can get some yards AFTER the catch.

That's like lobbing a pass to someone doing a hook. Just stupid. Bullet the ball.

Thanks I will try the bullet approach. I just figured that an RB would have better luck catching a floating pass than a hard one. But maybe by doing a lob its over compensating and going past the RB.

The problem is that VC lowered Run Route ratings down to gutter levels. Bump up RB Run Route to at least 60 – mine are 80+. Also, Bump up QB Pass Read – mine is 95. Raising those two ratings will allow you to use both the lob and the bullet pass when throwing to receivers in the flat, and receivers with low Catch ratings.

Will this make them too effective in other areas?

Maybe Ill just do it for my backs. What back did you raise to 80? Also did you just do this for your team or all the teams?
