Re: ESPN 2K12 Rosters by Rickster101

I haven't read the entire thread so don't know if this has been mentioned before:

1. Jahvid Best is not 5'11" 234 pounds, he is 5'10" 199 pounds--and he is not a power runner.

2. Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews are underrated, in my opinion.

3. Ryan Grant is overrated, in my opinion.

There are many player ratings that I don't agree with, such as Nimkovich being a better pass rusher than Clay Matthews, or Phillip Rivers being more accurate passer than Aaron Rodgers.

I'm not trying to start a war. You asked for opinions or input and I am contributing.

If you mean the edits from earlier and test versions you're probably right, the updated versions of the rosters are hosted at the 2k site and an updated version is some where in this thread posted some time in October I believe so be sure you're looking at or using the updated versions.

While on the same note another roster version (revision) has been posted by Silentway in his thread and I have announced an update to be posted by me shortly so even though your posted comments may have merit the process of updating and revising the rosters has been taken into account on my part and at this time I'm presently in the process of updating the rosters free of charge of course but do thank you for your keen observations which I do appreciate and would like to here more when the next version is released to help get them up to current NFL trends for a possible "End of Season" release going into the playoffs so your input is needed and appreciate to insure roster integrity.

Think of it as a scouting gig checking for game play items that I may have missed or have gotten by me having another pair of eyes helps alert me to items that may go unnoticed due to the volume and workload since this is a solo effort at this point in the process.

As for a timetable when I'll post mine I have none but can only say I expect them to reflect game play aspects reflecting game play from about the mid to ending of season game play which is to include some roster and personal changes.

I looked at the "Test" file on first page and also your Franchise file hosted on nfl2k5rosters site and both had Best at 234 pounds, as well as ratings I refer to.

I really appreciate you and all the guys who do rosters and everyone who contributes to make this game better and current. I was in no way trying to belittle what you do, just want to make that clear.

No problem bro I'm not sure what file you got that data from but mine shows him at 6'1" 218....hold on...you're right I got him mixed up with Ryan Grant Packers....no problem I'll fix it in the new release.

When you fix Best, he should be a finesse runner, not power. You might also want to change his Break Tackle rating. Best is really a speed back, kind of like Chris Johnson.

From what I've been observing over the season Johnson has just started to come into his own after a very slow start however he has show improvement over the latter part of the season and imo Best is no where near a Johnson type back yes he shows a flash but nothing to put him in the same conversation as in elite backs.

I will however make some adjustments and use him in actual hands on game play to see and get a feel for his game just jacking in numbers is no way to actually know where and how he plays.

I have a method that I pretty much stick to and it seems everyone has a different opinion which is fine but I believe the edits I use stay pretty much true to the game and I don't wanna over rate or edit something I haven't seen or observed watching actual games or footage....I pretty much don't get into hyped or inflated numbers.

I'll give him a look and see what happens in actual game play bro you may have something there and I agree he is nowhere near a power runner in the least.

Re: ESPN 2K12 Rosters by Rickster101

By the way, in case you're not aware, the Packers are shown as a 4-3 in your Franchise file with Raji listed twice as DT in depth chart.

The Packers are basically a 3-4 defense. Are all the teams set to their defense systems used in the original roster? If we are updating the roster, shouldn't we update their defense system as well?

I am pretty sure the game requires at least 3 DTs in the roster breakdown, Packers have two, as they do in real life, (2 NT).

Most rosters were done by depth charts using various media sources mainly Pro Football Weekly,ESPN,FOX and NFL.com.,SI.com just to name a few....the updated rosters have the 3-4 scheme as the selected defense for the Packers currently.

In the updated rosters most roster issues have been addressed at this time.

ESPN shows them using both 3-4 and 4-3 schemes listing 2 DTs. in the 3-4 scheme.

Left click on Packers name opens a drop box to change defensive scheme in "Defensive Fronts" along with other options using Finn editor.

http://stats.profootballweekly.com/team/packers/depth/

http://www.nfl.com/teams/greenbaypac...hchart?team=GB

These are some of the media sources I use and employ when doing depth charts along with watching actual games listening to and watching various sport topic shows via TV/Radio and reading material.
