Haha. He's pretty much moved onto APF so it's not very likely that anything new comes to 2K4. The height of 2K4/5 popularity is behind us so there wasn't a lot of enthusiasm behind his 2K4 editor when it first released, so I understand why it's kind of on the back burner.

Gill, do you have an aggression formula for 2k5 and 2k4?

I'd be interested to hear it

Re: GillBoldberg's NFL 2K4 Roster

Kind of.

Recently I've been using the 25-50-80 scale.
25 = conservative
50 = balanced
80 = aggressive

Also depends on the position/player type. Hard hitting/run stopping safeties would be in the 80 category. Pass rush specialist LB's would also be in that category. If I remember correctly the in-game manual says higher aggression will result in the player to bite on play action easier (I don't think I've seen the CPU ever pump fake so not an issue), and increases their likelihood to celebrate. So I guess keep that in mind too.

Is this for 2k4 and 2k5? I feel aggression is different in 2k4

Re: GillBoldberg's NFL 2K4 Roster

It should work for both. Players in 2K4 do seem a bit more aggressive than 2K5. I remember seeing a lot more big hits than ever. But that's why I left a little leeway with the scale (80, instead of 99). That being said, certain players are also eligible to get a 99 rating; players who talk/celebrate a lot (Dez, Golden Tate, Sherman, etc.) I think in the default 2K5 roster T.O. and Brett Favre both had 99 aggression. One celebrates a lot, the other had that "gunslinger" mentality.

So ultimately it's up to you. The scale is more of a guideline than anything set in stone.

Forgive me if im wrong, but isnt the big issue in 2K the defnesive back aggression? That anything about 24 would do things like break gameplay

Am I getitng this wrong?

I also found this.

Quote:

127/64 formula:

*Offensive Lineman and secondary players, all have an aggressiveness rating of 64

*Defensive Lineman, Running Backs, Fullbacks, Wide Receivers, Tight Ends and Linebackers, all have an aggressiveness rating of 127.

*Quarterbacks are rated at 64.

*Punters and Kickers are rated at 64.
You dont follow these formula any longer? Thanks for your knowledge. Im trying to make classic rosters. Any info is appreciated. I wan tto emulate your rosters as much as possible.

Re: GillBoldberg's NFL 2K4 Roster

I think the main thing was the DB "circling" animation. Where they do like a 360 trying to make a play on the ball. I don't remember seeing that in 2K4, might be wrong, but it was more of a 2K5 thing. With my current roster using the scale I mentioned I haven't really seen it. In the old rosters I remember the scale being from like 1 or 24 for CB's. I mean you can scale the scale down for DB's if you really want but I don't know if I'm just numb to it from playing the 2K series too long or just haven't looked as close as I used to. I see DB's try to make a play on the ball and whiff but not the circling animation. You can give shutdown corners low aggression so they won't go for INT's as much (and possibly miss).

I wish 2K gave a better explanation on what the aggression attribute actually does for non-DB players, other than celebrating.

QB's = scramble more? force passes in tight coverage?
HB's = ?
WR's = fight for more yards? fight for the ball in the air?
etc..

If you look at the default ratings for aggression in a save, it almost seems real random.

At the end of the day, its all about testing. Try a certain set or scale of aggression and see how it plays and if you see anything out of the ordinary.

Re: GillBoldberg's NFL 2K4 Roster

I can confirm, the CB circle issue does not exist on 2k4, even with high aggression.

Thanks for the insight

How many games of 2k4/2k5 do you reckon you've played in total bud?
