Joined a Fantasy league (any sport) where they didn't know the people in the league?

Just curious since I'm just getting into fantasy now and don't know if I should join a league now or ask some friends to get one going. I'm guessing like maybe 5-7 (including myself) would be interested in an NFL one.

It's always better with guys you know, but I've done a Yahoo public league and had quite a bit of fun.

I've done it and had a few where most of the guys stuck together and kept the league going for a year or two after... I've also had ones where someone would let their team die screwing things up. For the most part it's worth doing if you want to get in a league, but defintiely more communication with a bunch of people you know.
