To the Promise Land | CFB 25 Journeyman

    Hi all,

Usually post on Computer Based Sims, but I am going to try to do it with a CFB 25 one. I'm not great with graphics, but I just like to play and talk about it. I'll probably do Mid-Season updates, but we will start after year 1.

    Settings:
    Difficulty: All-American
Sliders: Armor and Swords with a few tweaks
    Minutes: 10 w/ 15 A.C.

2024 - Marshall Thundering Herd - 12-2 Sun Belt Champions, Scooters Coffee Bowl Champions

    Notes:
    - Was a fun season for sure. We battled, and won alot of close games.
    - Our defense was...awful. We played well at times, then fell apart at times. That's fun about the game is the ebb and flow.
    - Ohio was a big win to start, we had full control throughout.
    - VA Tech was a closer game than showed, but had to sim it due to a freeze. We still lost in the actual play.
    - Ohio State wiped the floor with me. We had a few big plays in the pass game, but omg they destroyed us in the air.
    - Handled App and Western pretty easily, they just stayed just in fighting distance.

    - OMG was the Georgia Southern game fun, intense, and stressful. We dominated for the most part, but their defense was stepping up big. We scored 20 in the 4th and they scored 17. We missed 3 field goals, and gave them a pick six + kick off return for a touchdown. Game was tied late after we scored, and they fumbled the kick off. Only for us to throw a pick in the endzone, but they would throw a pick on the next play. We capitalized and held on.

    - Coastal torched us in the air. We luckily held on and pulled it through.
    - JMU game was actually very tight. We score 17 late in the game to pull away. A field goal, then a quick score on offense, then a pick six to seal it.
    - Championship game was a dogfight. Much tighter defensive game than we saw all season.

    - Our offense was fun all season. Cole Pennington and Ethan Payne held the bulk of the load.
    - Our defense measured out pretty bad. Even though I thought we played well at times.

    - We racked up some stats on offense.
    - Spread the wealth for sure in the passing game. Montgomery, Harris were fun to play with. Conley was always a consistent 3rd down target.
    - Payne dominated, and had to because the #2 back was out for the year early on. With our passing attack, definitely opened up things in the run game.
    - Defense measured decently, but our pass defense and pass rush lacked all year.

    - It was the year of the random champions for sure.
    - Playoff held up well couple of upsets early on.
    - Penn State got a great draw for their run to the title game.
    - Bama holds on and wins with the first year without Saban.

Normally I would post our recruiting class, but I decided to take the Pitt job. I usually put a rule on I have to stay two years at a place minimum but Pitt was a school I marked as an exception.

      2025 Season - Pittsburgh Panthers - 12-2 - ACC Champions - 2nd Round CFB Playoffs

      Notes -
      - A wild ride to say the least. Especially the 2nd half of the season.
      - The North Carolina game was stressful. We jump up 24-3, they come storming back in the 2nd half. Tie it, but we end up scoring late to make it look worse.
      - The Syracuse game was a near tragedy. We were down 28-7 in the first quarter. Made some adjustments, and found our way.
      - Boston College was a big game. Game of the Week, they were #3 and we were #5.
      - Notre Dame was down this year, finishing 4-8. First shutout against the CPU on CFB 25.
      - First time ever, 3 Plays, 3 Straight Defensive Scores against Notre Dame. It was 13-0 with 2 minutes left in the half, and the walls just caved in.
      - Miami was the same way, just down this year. The battled tough though.
      - Rematch with North Carolina, we just wanted to control the game.
      - Oregon game was back and forth. We didn't find anything offensively till late in the 3rd Quarter. We take the lead with 1 minute left to go up 24-23, but it was just too much time left.

      - HFC Offers
      ~ Oklahoma
      ~ Notre Dame

Declined each and staying with the Panthers.

      - Rebounded from the bad defensive season with Marshall. Proud of the defensive achievements.

      - Reid carried us until the QB was better later in the year.
      - Our DL dominated. I don't play with them on the game but they were fun to watch.

        2026 Midseason Update - #2 Pittsburgh Panthers - 6-0

        Notes:
        - A great start to the year. We've bounced from #1 and #2 all season. We were pre-season ranked #2. We had a ton returning. We are loaded at spots.
        - Defense has been on and off all year. Sometimes great, then sometimes struggling.

        - Penn State game was wild. We truly dominated. They are very down too, they have started the year 0-6.
        - WVU was another big win over a playoff team from the year before. We have their number currently.

        - The Indiana game was fun, Cole Pennington, my quarterback at Marshall transferred there. He had a great game and lit us up. Luckily our offense took over and won it for us.
        - Duke jumped all over us. It was the first time the computer was super aggressive in the 1st half. 4 trick plays, a fake field goal for a touchdown. Hit us with a KOR touchdown. Once we calmed down we were ok, but they were tough.

        - Then a defensive struggle with SMU.

        - I think it's good that we can win in different ways. We can win with defense and running the ball. Or we can win shootouts.

        - The rest of the schedule is light. Only Boston College is left that is a true big game. Everyone else is under .500.

        Recruiting Update:

        - Two Five Star Corners is massive.
        - The interest in prime recruits is definitely higher after the playoff run.

        Future Update:

        - I am wanting to create the old Big East but bring in some others to bolster the league.
        - Pac 12 Comes back. Two years of trying it and everyone hates it. Goes back to the old Pac 12. Bring in Boise, BYU, and SDSU.
        - Texas and Oklahoma get frustrated in the SEC. Go back to the Big 12.
        - Nebraska stays in Big 10, as does Maryland.
        - SMU panics, joins the Big 12.
        - South Florida joins the ACC after the departures. Not falling in the Big East trap again.
        - Missouri doesn't leave the SEC neither does A&M. They like the money.

        - Big East becomes:
        1. Miami
        2. Virginia Tech
        3. Pittsburgh
        4. WVU
        5. Syracuse
        6. Boston College
        7. Louisville
        8. Cincinatti
        9. UCF
        10. Notre Dame(Finally Caves due to the new playoff)
        11. Rutgers gives up on BIg 10 Success
        12. Is there a 12th team? Liberty? James Madison?

        Any suggestions?
