Cornell at New York

New York Smacks Cornell

In a blowout performance, New York picked up over 600 yards of total offense as they dominated, outplayed, and outhustled Cornell 73-7.

The Vipers (2-2, 0-1) now must get ready for their biggest game of the year, in South Bend agaisnt the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Cornell could not do anything offensively or defensively against a far superior New York team, and appeared to just quit in the second half, giving up an amazing 42 points.

Shawn James threw for 269 yards and five scores, while three different Vipers scored rushing touchdowns, including a 61 yard reverse and a 45 yard scramble by James.

Matt Smith broke out of his season long slump, catching two touchdown passes and having 117 yards receiving on the day. Michael McClellan returned two punts for touchdowns late in the game.

For Cornell, it was ugly, as their quarterback only completed 23% of his passes after being pressured all day. For New York, their first home victory was a sweet one.

New York at Notre Dame

Irish Too Much In Blowout Win

As expected, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and their #14 ranking was just too much for the first year New York Vipers to handle.

The Vipers (2-3, 0-1) were held to a measly 273 yards of total offense as Notre Dame crushed them 38-3. The loss moved the Vipers below .500 for what most people would assume the rest of the year with the toughest part of the schedule still too come.

The Irish started off strong, scoring 14 points before the Vipers settled down and playes respectively for the rest of the game.

Shawn James threw an interception on the first drive, setting up a score by Darius Walker. He also threw one that was dropped by his receiver right into the hands of Tom Zbikowski, who raced it in for the score.

Brady Quinn went 21-29 passing for the Irish, who upped their record to 4-2 and ended a streak of close games. This was the first installment of the Notre Dame-New York rivalry, and both schools hope it will expand in the future when New York becomes a better football club.

New York at Louisville

Vipers Sluaghtered by Cards

In their second straight game against a ranked opponent, New York suffered their second straight blowout loss, losing 52-10 and only managing 11 rushing yards on the day.

The first quarter ended 10-10, and it appeared that New York may have a chance, but they were outscored 42-0 the rest of the way, with Louisville scoring two touchdowns in each quarter.

Shawn James was 14-30 for 182 yards and a score, but threw two costly interceptions, which both lead to Cardinal touchdowns.

New York had two field goals blocked in the second quarter, both of which would have given them a 13-10 lead. Louisville scored off the second block, and it turned into a blowout.

Brian Brohm threw for 267 yards and three scores, while Kevin Corder ran for 227 yards as Louisville racked up over 500 yards in total offense compared to a measly 193 for New York.

The Vipers return home for a game against conference rival South Florida next Saturday.
