Re: Kentucky Wildcats (NCAA 2004 - PS2)

Kentucky name Ingram as their new head coach

Jonathan Ingram has been confirmed as the new head coach of Kentucky just a few days after resigning from Tulsa.

Fans of the Wildcats can look forward to a new era as Ingram will look to install his run heavy playbook after achieving huge success in the WAC with the Golden Hurricane.

The young head coach was only at Tulsa for two seasons but managed to turn around the programs fortunes, winning two WAC Championships with one outright (last season they shared the title with Fresno State), as well as two bowl invitations to the Humanitarian Bowl.

"I felt I acheived as much as I could in Tulsa and I'd like to thank everyone there for all their hard work over the last 24 months", stated Ingram.

"The lure of coaching in a BCS Conference and coming here to Kentucky is an exciting prospect."

He leaves Tulsa in the middle of a 15-game winning streak in the WAC conference.

Kentucky finished the season with a 2-10 record.

Coach Jonathan Ingram will certainly have his work cut out for him this season after a difficult recruiting period.

"We found it very difficult attracting the type of players we wanted", admitted Ingram.

"We were handcuffed by how low our program has gone over the last few years", referring to the continuous losing seasons culminating in their 2-10 record in 2004.

"These kids are not stupid, so it's our job this season to turn that perception around and show everyone that things are changing here for the better."

Notable recruits were the 3-star punter Marquise Sparks, who was ranked #14 in his position, and free-safety Shannon Simpson who coaches believe has a huge upside despite his 2-star rating.
