Surviving the Late Push

Andre Burgess threading the needle, hitting Foster for the TD.

UNCC 10 14 0 14 31

Charlotte, NC-
The 49ers continue to run right through Conference USA, as they beat Southern Mississippi Saturday 31-28.

A balanced attack led the way as Charlotte passed for 250+ and ran for 100+ yards.

They had a nice 31-14 lead going into the 4th, but USM managed to rally and make it a 31-28 game with 2:07 left.

But then Charlotte went into time management, as they ate up the rest of the clock with some big runs and some kneels.

Big news out of the NCAA offices today as the NCAA Director of College Football has decided to put an extra minute to each quarter, raising it from 5 to 6.

This will cause for longer games so fans won't have to be there for 30-45 minutes, and would help with the low stats.
lol, good stuff.

Be honest though, how bored ARE you at home???

QB Quarrel in the Bye Week?

Charlotte, NC-
Offensive lineman had to break up the two quarterbacks during a Wednesday workout, as both players were arguing about playing time.

The injured QB, Robert Kimbrough walked up to backup QB Andre Burgess at around 11:15 as practice was warming up. Eye witnesses said that they heard Kimbrough say to Burgess that you better not comfortable as a starter, because when I am cleared to play, I will come back with a vengence.

Burgess just looked at him and laughed, witnesses say, which led to Kimbrough grabbing Andre's arm and a confrontation almost broke out.

We tried to reach Coach Rogers about what happened, but all he told the media was, "**** off."

Tensions are rising right now, and fans hope this doesn't lead into a locker room divided. We did get a comment from 3rd string QB Adrian Rankin, who was there when everything went down. But all he told us was, "Well I guess Coach should start me."

Punched in the Mouth.

Kimbrough being sacked, it was a long game.

UNCC 0 0 0 7 7
MISS 7 17 3 0 27

Oxford, MS-
Well, Charlotte pretty much was destroyed from start to finish against the Rebels.

The Rebels went into halftime with a 24-0 lead, and already had 300 total yards of offense compared to Charlotte's 50. But Charlotte managed to knock out Mississippi's QB Jared Snead.

Charlotte managed to get on the board early in the 4th quarter when the back fullback, Greg Hall ran it in on 4th and goal. But that may have been the only bright spot.

This game really showed the weakness of the 49ers. The defense.
