Re: One Team, One City, One Dream / Philadelphia Eagles (M10)
Philadelphia, PA: October 27, 2009 Skins no match for Eagles
Defense wins championships. If this is true, this could just be the Eagle's year.
On the first play from scrimmage, Eagles quarterback dropped back and fired a rocket. DeAngelo Hall took that pass to the house, 40 yards, touchdown. It was twenty seconds into the game. That would be the last touchdown the Redskins would score Monday night.
The score remained at 7-0 until the Eagles finally picked it up in the second quarter. Fullback Leonard Weaver received two carries during the evening. Both resulted in one yard gains, both were in the second quarter, and both were touchdowns
Donovan McNabb struggled throughout the first half of play, but would get the ball rolling in the second half. After throwing 3 interceptions in the first half McNabb came back throwing 2 touchdowns and no more interceptions the rest of the night. One was a 57 yard pass to Maclin in the third quarter; the other a 12 yard pass to Brent Celek with three minutes remaining in the game.
The Eagles defense allowed only 253 yards by the Redskins offense. Despite the three offensive turnovers by the Eagles, the defense allowed only one field goal all night. The second ranked rushing defense shut down Clinton Portis, who rushed for only 39 yards on 14 attempts.
The 35-10 crushing defeat gives the team much confidence going into next weeks matchup against the New York Giants. The Redskins are currently the number two team in the NFC East with the Giants (2-5) and Cowboys (3-3). Beating them clearly shows the Eagles dominance in what was thought to be one of the toughest divisions in football.

Re: One Team, One City, One Dream / Philadelphia Eagles (M10)
Philadelphia, PA: November 2, 2009 Eagles squeaks by Giants
One of the big surprises of the season thus far has to be the New York Giants struggling as much as they are. The came into Sunday with a 2-5 record ranked last in the NFC East. They didn't play like that team against Philadelphia.
The Giants came out firing. By the end of the first quarter they were up 10-0 and held the Eagles to just 23 yards on offense. Things weren't looking up for Philadelphia.
Then suddenly the momentum flip flopped. The Eagles pummeled the Giants in the second quarter, putting up 17 points and allowing 0. Shady McCoy rushed for both touchdowns.
At the start of the second half it seemed as if the Eagles were going to run away with the game. On their first possession they drove down the field and put up a field goal making the score 20-10, with all 20 points being unanswered. That lasted about 5 more minutes until another huge momentum shift occurred.
One second the New York Giants and Eli Manning are on the Eagle's 49 yard line. 15 seconds later they led the game 24-20. Hakeem Nicks had a huge afternoon, scoring two touchdowns, one of which was a 49 yard throw from Eli Manning in the third quarter. On the ensuing kickoff returner Ellis Hobbs would take a monster hit. The ball would fall loose and New York's Chase Blackburn would pick it up returning it 25 yards for a New York touchdown.
All the momentum was suddenly with the Giants. Ellis Hobbs was obviously shaken up by the hit, which resulted in rookie Jeremy Maclin stepping in to return the kickoff following the sudden turn of events. 10 seconds later, the Eagles were back in the lead. Maclin would return the kick 97 yards, for a Philadelphia touchdown. 21 points in 25 seconds.
Brandon Jacobs did something that no other running back has been able to do this season against the Eagles. He ran for over 100 yards; 105 to be exact. This strong attack helped the Giants tie the game back up 27-27 early in the 4th quarter.
Unfortunately for New York, Brian Westbrook had a better day. Although he score no touchdowns, Westbrook rushed for 135 yards and 48 more receiving. This helped the Eagles set up the game winning field goal with 3 minutes remaining in the game. The Giants were unable to respond.
The Eagles are now one of three teams that remain undefeated. The Green Bay Packers and in state Pittsburgh Steelers are the other two teams.
Next week will be the last of three straight NFC East matchups, when the rival Cowboys come to town for Sunday Night Football.

Re: One Team, One City, One Dream / Philadelphia Eagles (M10)
Philadelphia, PA: November 9, 2009 All good things come to an end
They never gave up. They never said die. But they just couldn't overcome.
The Eagle's perfect season finally came to an end Sunday night when they lost a heartbreaker at home to the rival Cowboys.
The game actually started off well for the Eagles. They led the game until late in the fourth quarter 14-7. Then the Cowboys suddenly took control of the game, and the Eagles were never able to fully recover.
The Cowboys continued the beat down at the start of the third quarter, when Romo hit tight end Jason Witten for a 49 yard touchdown pass making the score 31-14.
The Eagles fought hard to come back. DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin each received for over 100 yards a piece during the game.
After a Brian Westbrook touchdown to close the score to 7 with four minutes remaining, the Eagles defense stepped up big shutting down the Cowboys 3 and out. Donovan McNabb and the offense had one more chance.
That chance ended with a thud, deep in Cowboys territory. On a 4th and 3 from the Cowboys 31 yard line, with 48 seconds remaining on the clock, Donovan McNabb rolled out and hit Alex Smith just passed the fourth down marker. The ball slid through Smith's hands, incomplete.
The 38-31 loss was extremely disappointing for everyone at the Linc. “Tonight just wasn't our night,” McNabb said after the game. “But I'm sure we'll regroup and come back strong next week. The season is sixteen games long.”
McNabb only speaks the truth. Despite the loss the Eagles are still at the top of the NFC East and are still the second ranked team in the NFC.

Re: One Team, One City, One Dream / Philadelphia Eagles (M10)
I LOVE that table. It's simple, but really clean. You made it yourself, correct? I've never seen one look quite like it before. I'll be following, even if you are the Eagles.
