Restoring the Roar: The Missouri Tigers

The Missouri Tigers have long been on the cusp of the great teams in the Big 12. Separated from the top tier of the Big 12, Mizzou exists in a different world consisting of Nebraska and Colorado to name a few, always looking up to the Big 12 South's power programs. In 2007 as well as 2008 the Tigers represented the Big 12 North in the conference championship game, in both cases being drubbed by Oklahoma. Missouri continues its quest to become a team mentioned in the same breath as Texas and Oklahoma.

Mizzou Hires New Athletic Director

With the recent retirement of Mike Alden from his duties of Athletic Director, the Tigers announced today that their search for a replacement has ended with the hiring of former Vernon High School Athletic Director Jay Huhn.

Huhn, 23, becomes the youngest athletic director in NCAA history, was also the youngest athletic director in New Jersey high school history when he took over the job at the age of 19. The relative unknown Huhn wowed the University committee charged with finding a new director.

"I look forward to the challenge, and the opportunity afforded to me by the University of Missouri." said Huhn, "With such great athletics already in place, my job will be to continue the high standard of winning here in Columbia."

"My first act as athletic director is to assure the commitment of our football team to only play the finest programs. That is why we have changed two of our opponents for the upcoming season. Furman will no longer be visiting us, instead Auburn will come to Columbia. The following week we will no longer be traveling to Nevada, but will travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Panthers."

With a devilish grin Huhn refused to answer any questions on the sudden increase in difficulty to the schedule, but left with the following sentiment.

"We plan to be the best team we can be, we can't do that against cupcake teams. There will be no cake walks for the Tigers, until every team is a walk in the park for us."
