Keep Chopping: A Rutgers Scarlet Knights Dynasty, Round 2 (NCAA 10)

Unfortunately for me, someone decided to delete the other dynasty I was doing from my hard drive, so I am re-starting it here. I have already played through week 7.

RUTGERS SCARLET KNIGHTS: YEAR-TO-DATE
Rutgers fans are daring to hope for a first Big East title and a BCS berth, as the now 8th ranked Scarlet Knights have gotten off to a blazing 6-0 start against a decidedly weak out-of-conference schedule.

THE SCHEDULE
WeekDateOpponentResult
19/5Cincinnati*W 27-20 [1-0(1-0)]
29/12FCS EastW 66-3 [2-0 (1-0)]
39/19FIUW 35-6 [3-0 (1-0)]

610/10FCS MidwestW 80-19 [5-0 (1-0)]
710/16Pittsburgh*W 42-17 [6-0 (2-0)]

10BYE
1111/12USF*
1211/21at Syracuse*
1311/28at Louisville*
1412/5at #22 West Virginia

The Scarlet Knights have gotten off to a great start this year, although they have admittedly played an uncharacteristically weak schedule so far. Rutgers has put up 275 points this year, to a measily 75 from it's opponents, and ranks #2 in the country in points per game.

This offense has come on the strength of the 25th ranked rushing attack in the country. Redshirt junior running back Kordell Young has rushed for 791 yards on 162 carries, and second-stringer Joe Martinek has added 324 yards on 50 carries of his own.

Despite the impressive statistics, doubters wonder whether the fact that half of Rutgers' wins have come against very inept teams, and the other three against mediocre teams at best, is causing the Scarlet Knights to be overrated. With the rest of the conference schedule to come, that question will quickly be answered.

GAME-BY-GAME
WEEK 1
27, 20
PISCATAWAY, NJ - After a low-scoring first half, the Scarlet Knights racked up 24 second half points on their way to a season opening victory.

RS SR QB D. Natale completed 14 of 21 attempts for 181 yards and 2 touchdowns in his first start of the season.
WEEK 2
66, 3
PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Scarlet Knights improve to 2-0 with a dominating win over FCS E. Rutgers scored at least 14 points in every quarter, and even the backups got in on the party.

RB Kordell Young led the Knights with 174 yards on 22 carries, and 4 rushing touchdowns.
WEEK 3
35, 6
PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Scarlet Knights jumped out to a 21-3 halftime lead and never looked back, outclassing Florida International in this week 3 matchup.

HB Kordell Young led Rutgers with 118 yards on 24 carries, tallying 2 touchdowns.
WEEK 4
17, 10
COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Scarlet Knights prove that they can get it done on the road as well, and improve to 4-0 by defeating Maryland.

Kordell Young had 114 kick return yards, and a kick return for a touchdown.
WEEK 6
80, 19
PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Scarlet Knights put up a rediculous 80 points on inept opponent FCS Midwest. The second team offense score the 45 second half points.

WR Tim Brown had 164 all-purpose yards.
WEEK 7
42, 17
PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Scarlet Knights silence some critics with a decisive win over Pittsburgh in the first conference matchup since week one. The win on national television propelled Rutgers to #8 in the coaches poll.

RB Kordell Young accumulated 213 yards and 2 TDs on 41 carries.
