The Scarlet Knights have gotten off to a great start this year, although they have admittedly played an uncharacteristically weak schedule so far. Rutgers has put up 275 points this year, to a measily 75 from it's opponents, and ranks #2 in the country in points per game.
This offense has come on the strength of the 25th ranked rushing attack in the country. Redshirt junior running back Kordell Young has rushed for 791 yards on 162 carries, and second-stringer Joe Martinek has added 324 yards on 50 carries of his own.
Despite the impressive statistics, doubters wonder whether the fact that half of Rutgers' wins have come against very inept teams, and the other three against mediocre teams at best, is causing the Scarlet Knights to be overrated. With the rest of the conference schedule to come, that question will quickly be answered.
