Madden Roster update #8

I will enter into Franchise Mode as the Oakland Raiders, and sim through the season, then relocate the team to Las Vegas after.

Pre-Season-Will be played, but I'll sum it up in one post instead of four indivudual games.

Season-I will play eight selected games and post games in two's. So every two games will be joined together on one post. Considering all of my players are going to be pretty bad, I'm going to go more off how they are playing then if so-and-so is 3 points higher then so-and-so.

I am not trying to copy the other guy's Las Vegas Franchise, I actually thought of this last night after my first Franchise failed.

Raiders Owner Davis Dies at age 81: Team Sold and Relocated to Las Vegas

Oakland, CA
February 6th, 2010

Oakland Raiders owner and general manager Al David was found dead in his office yesterday afternoon only two days before the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Redskins are set to play Super Bowl 44. Davis died of an apparent heart attack, and was found besides his desk by his personal assistant.

Davis was a major part of the AFL/NFL merge in 1966. Davis had been the owner and GM of the Raiders since 1972. Davis brought the Raiders three super bowls in his run as owner and GM, but has been criticized as of late and often advised to step down as general manager of the Raiders. Since the Raiders Super Bowl appearance in 2002, the teams have been a lowly 26-86, and haven’t won more then 5 games in a season since that 2002 season. The Raiders finished this year a disappointing 2-14 and own this year’s #1 overall selection.

The team was bought by a person to be named later, for approximately 1.4 Billion Dollars, and will be immediately moved to Las Vegas. Although the official owner has yet to be announced, rumor has it Billionaire Donald Trump is the man who bought the Raiders, but this is pure speculation at this point. There are no plans as of right now for a name for the team, but NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has announced the team will no longer be called the Raiders, “No.” Goodell responded when asked if they would remain being called the Raiders “The Raiders are no more, the last few years have been really bad in Oakland; it was really time for a change of everything over there.” There are also no current plans for a stadium.

Trump Announced as Vegas Owner: Big Changes Ahead

February 23rd, 2010
Las Vegas, NV

We finally found out who the owner of the new Team in Las Vegas is, none other then Donald Trump. According to reports, Trump will pay the Davis family, who sold the team after Al Davis's untimely earlier this month 1.4 billion dollars to be the rightfull owner of the team that was formerly the Oakland Raiders. In an interview help earlier today, Trump said, "I've acheived just about all of my life goals up to this point, and really ran out of things to do. So once I read about Al's death I thought to myself "Why not give owning a profesional team a try?" Trump also announced the new name of the team would be the Las Vegas Luck, and a multi-billion dollar stadium sure to rival the one built in Texas by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is currently being built, and should be on time for the preseason which starts in August.

Trump has also hired a general manager, an virtually unknown man by the name of Jimmy McColgan. McColgan was the head coach of a Junior High School team in Brockton MA, which is oddly the city Al Davis was born in. McColgan announced today that the entire coaching staff has been fired, including head coach Tom Cable, and that a new coaching staff was to be announced later this week.

The Offeason Thus Far

Las Vegas, NV
February 28, 2010

When General Manager Jimmy McColgan said that there would be alot of changes this offseason, that was an understatement. In the five days since he took over the Raiders have cut their roster down to only ten players. In addition they have hired a completely new coaching staff. Ron Meeks who was the defensive cordinator for Carolina last year was signed to a 5 year, 6 million dollar contract. Joining Meeks will be offensive cordinator Norv Turner, defensive cordinator Romeo Crennell, and special teams coach Bobby April. Here is a complete list of player transactions the Luck have made over the last five days:

Resignings-
WR Chaz Schilens resigned 5 year 24m
DT Desmond Bryant resigned 3 year 4m
WR Javon Walker resigned 2 year 4.5m
Jamarcus Russel resigned 2 year 7m

Cuts
TE Zach Miller
TE Brandon Myers
LT Mario Henderson
RG Cooper Carlisle
LE Trevor Scott
LE Matt Shaugnessy
ROLB Thomas Howard
SS Tyvon Branch
WR Javon Walker
QB Jamrcus Russell
C Samson Satlete

HB Michael Bush
WR Jonnie Lee Higgins
R3 P16

Seattle send to Luck
R2 P17

Luck send to Chicago
HB Justin Fargas

Chicago send to Luck
R6 P2
R6 P6

With all these moves that leaves 43 spots left on the open roster. The trades for DE's Tyson Jackson and Ziggy Hood seem to lead to an apparent switch to a 3-4 from the 4-3 scheme that was run with the previous regime. The only players who remain on the roster as of now are:

HB Darren McFadden
WR Chaz Schilens
WR Luis Murphy
WR Darius Heyward-Bey
DE Tyson Jackson
DE Ziggy Hood
DT Desmond Bryant
FS Michael Huff
SS Michael Mitchell
P Shane Lechler

With free agency begining tomorrow, expect alot of moves over the next few days by the Luck, well about 43 of them to be exact.

Twenty-four other players will be joining Vick in Las Vegas inclusing former #1 overall pick David Carr. Most of the players are young players that head coach Ron Meeks hopes to groom into starters. When asked about the new array of players that would soon be arriving in Las Vegas, head coach Ron Meeks said, "It's exciting, were starting fresh over here, were pretty much going to have 53 new guys to work with and no one is guarinteed a starting spot...it's gunna be one hell of a season." The complete list of players sign can be found at the end of the article. NFL Draft Complete: Luck Impress

Las Vegas, NV
April 30, 2010

With the NFL Draft coming to an end yesterday, the Las Vegas Luck may of had the best draft of any team. With the first overall selection in the draft, the luck picked who many expected them to, Arizona QB Mike Zazzali. Zazzali has one of the strogest arms you'll ever see, fans from Arizona say they've seen him throw cross field bombs. On top of his arm, Zazzali has pin-point accuarcy and ran a 4.44 forty yard dash...the fastest of any QB at the draft. With the third overall selection the Luck selected big DT Lorenzo Spragan. Spragan stands at 6'3 330lbs, and comes out of Florida State. Spragan is expected to be the first key into the presumed move to the 3-4 by head coach Ron Meeks.

In the second round the Luck selected DE/OLB hybrid Vernon Caldwell out of Oregon State. Caldwell ran the fastest 40 yard dash of any OLB in the draft at a 4.41, and when your 6'5 275 lbs that's not any easy feat to acheive. Their next second round pick was TE Joshua Brandt out of Boise State, the Luck again went with speed here, as Brandt had the 3rd fastest 40 of any TE at a 4.47. The remaining picks were MLB Kevin Davis, WR Mario Sanders, SS Davion Avery, OLB Pone Seastrunk, and OLB Brian Dockery. All players are expected to compete for a starting job.

Re: High Rollers:Las Vegas Luck Dynasty (M10)

Luck Trade For OLB Merriman

Las Vegas, NV
June 28, 2010

With training camp only a few weeks away, the Luck were looking to make a few more minor roster changes to help improve their team. When General Manager Jimmy McColgan heard that the Chargers were shopping star OLB Shawn Merriman he jumped at the chance. Merriman will be coming to Vegas for 2nd round pick DE/OLB Vernon Caldwell and the Luck's 2011 3rd round draft pick. Merriman immediatly gives this defence some much needed credibility. Along with Merriman the Luck made a few other signings including former Baltimore Raven CB Chris McAlister, CB Samari Rolle, LT Zach Strief, LG Quinn Oijinnaka, C Kyle DeVan, RG Dan Federkeil, RT Corey Hilliard, WR Dominique Berlin, HB Shagg Makino, and HB Danny Woodhead. The Luck also resigned last years kicker Sebastion Janikowski to a one year deal.
