Re: Houston Texans Franchise

Preseason Review

The Texans preseason was not as good as they would have hoped, but its just preseason. The Texans finished with a 2-2 record. QB Matt Schaub had a great preseason. He was 50 of 76 for 575 yards 7 TD's and only 1 INT. This is great as it looks like the passing game from last year with continue to be great.

There was a position battle between newly signed Ladanian Tomlinson and S. Slaton and it looks like Tomlinson will be the starter. He carried the ball 46 times for 307 yards and 3 TD's while Slaton had 31 carries for 102 yards and 0 TD's.

There were some problems though. The secondary that has lost its veteran leader in Dunta Robinson struggled throughout the preseason. We will just have to see if they can pull through and help the team win.

Re: Houston Texans Franchise

Big Injuries

The Texans have learned that they have lost 2 key members of the secondary. B. Pollard, a hard hitting safety that pretty much saved the defense last year has been lost for 5 weeks with a broken collarbone.

Another big injury is to G. Quin Jr. Quin was set to be the starter after a pretty good rookie year, but he has been lost for 8 weeks after he tore his quadricep in a preseason game.

It will be tough for the Texans to overcome these injuries.

Week 1:Titans at Texans
Texans Open Season With Heartbreaking Loss

Houston, TX--AP:The Texans and Titans rivalry is one that always seems to result in close games. This game was no different. The Texans looked like they had control early in the game, but thanks to big mistakes and an inability to execute they were unable to make anything happen. They did a good job at containing johnson except for one big run and it came at a big time. The Texans defense just could not handle the Titans and the Titans were able to get the game winning FG in overtime to make the final score 30-27 with the Titans taking the close win

Re: Houston Texans Franchise

Week 2:Texans(0-1) at Browns(0-1)
Rookie Comes Up Big To Secure Texan's Win

Houston, TX--AP:This was a game of two teams looking for their first victories. The Browns came out firing on all cylinders while the Texans started slow. The Browns put up 14 points to make the score 14-0 midway through the 1st quarter. The Texans weren't going to get blown away though. They came firing back and put up 35 unanswered points including a record tying 64 yard FG to make the score 35-14 heading into the 4th quarter.

But, as the Texans did all last year, they let the Browns stick around. The Browns scored 2 quick TD's to make the score 35-27. The Texans just needed a first down to seal the game. But, they got a holding penalty so they would have to punt it away. The Browns were able to score and come within two points of the Texans. But, on the 2 point conversion, rookie D. Holmes made a stop 1 yard behind the line of scrimmage. The Texans were able to take 3 knees and win the game 35-33.

Re: Houston Texans Franchise

Texans Get Unhappy Cromartie From Chargers

The Texans have made a big trade today in order to give a boost to their secondary. They have acquired CB Antonio Cromartie from the Chargers. Cromartie had a great season, but then his play dropped off. The Texans believe that he can return to the form he once had and really contribute to their team.

This couldn't really hurt them as there team has allowed 9 passing TD's in the first two games while not getting a single INT.

The Texans got Antonio Cromartie and the Chargers got the Texans 2nd and 4th round draft picks.

Week 3:Texans(1-1) at Chiefs(1-1)
Tomlinson Has Big Day; Texans Win

Houston, TX--AP:This game was not as close as the other two, but it still gave everyone in Houston a bit of a scare. It was a back and forth battle and it all came down to the last possession. Unlike in the last game, they were able to get the yards they needed on the ground and seal the victory to put the Texans above .500.

It looks good so far. Will be interested to see how this one turns out for you. Texans getting some good players through FA and trades.
