Matthew Clark, Road To Glory

Game: NCAA 2010, then Madden 2010
System: 360
Time: 7 minutes
Skill: Varsity

Well here it is, the WPIAL Football Playoffs have ended and the Plum Mustangs have finished with an impressive win over Bethel Park. The Mustangs will be heading to the State Playoffs, their first in over 20 years. For the last 10 years, they have been very subpar, making the WPIALs 5 times, but 3 of those were with losing records.

Plum's Linebacker Senior, Matthew Clark, has been a decent player all season and has been very good in John McDaniels defense. Not many passes come across the middle with him covering. There should be many scouts looking at him, but many of those scouts are going to be from lower prestige schools. He expects to move on to college and play ball and would love to stay close, but is not expecting a big school to take him.

The 'Stangs open up their state playoffs with a game against Meadville. This will be a test for the 'Stangs as Meadville has been pretty tough on D and their offense is pretty good too.

Re: Matthew Clark, Road To Glory

Mustangs prevail in a blowout win against Meadville.

In a game that everyone was expecting to be close, the Mustangs offense exploded for 65 points in their opening game of the Pennsylvania State Playoffs. Their Defense also played great, only allowing 12 points to be scored in the game.

Over the middle, the Mustangs defense allowed 1 pass to be caught. This was late in the first half when Clark dropped back and then broke towards the QB. It was a split second decision for the QB and he found the TE for a 8 yard pick up. But after that, Clark pretty much stayed in his zone and didn't allow a receiver to catch another ball.

Clark was also instrumental on one punt return, as he dropped back to block for his teammate and flattened a would-be tackler. His teammate took it 60 yards for a touchdown. Clark also was the lead blocker on an interception return, but he had no one to block.

Score by Quarter
1 ~ Plum 14 Meadville 3
2 ~ Plum 28 Meadville 6
3 ~ Plum 48 Meadville 12
4 ~ Plum 65 Meadville 12

Matthew Clark's Stats
7 Tackles
2 TFL
0 Ints
0 Forced Fumbles
0 Fumbles recovered

Re: Matthew Clark, Road To Glory

Clark's Thoughts

Wow, what a game we played. I expected Meadville was going to be a lot tougher, but it was only the first round. I was upset that I was only able to get 7 tackles, but I just could not fight through some of the blocks.

I was surprised by the six scouts that showed up. But they are all from schools out west. I would like to stay local or at least on the east coast, but if they are going to give me a scholarship, I can't complain.

I couldn't believe how easy it was to get the block for Ron to return the punt. That kid went down so easily. I also am glad that John picked that ball off. He was having a bad week after finding out his grandma was taken to the hospital. I wish I could have gotten a pick, but they wouldn't throw it over the middle.

Well time to get ready for the 2nd round. I wonder who we will be playing.
