Packers Acquire Tavares Gooden:
In the Packers search to find more athletes at the linebacker position, they have acquired Tavares Gooden from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 5th round draft pick.
Gooden, who started along-side Hall of Famer Ray Lewis last season, is a very fast linebacker who definitely projects to outside backer for the Packers. Provided Gooden continues to develop as he did last season, A.J. Hawk could be fighting for his job next season when he enters the final year of his rookie contract.
Gooden is superior in pass coverage to any linebacker the Packers had previously carried on their roster. This acquisition just shows how unhappy the Packers are with the performance of the linebacking core from last season.
