Drew Brees showed he still has what it takes after he put up 279 Yards through the air in one half and threw for 3 touchdowns to lead the Saints to a 26-14 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. The only noticeable problem with the team so far seems to be its kicking game where Garrett Hartley is struggling to connect and has missed at least 1 field goal and 1 extra point in both preseason games so far. Also Tracy Porter was injured late in the game and is expected to miss up to 3 weeks with a sprained wrist and will most likely miss the Super Bowl rematch against the Indianapolis Colts.

In the 1st quarter the Saints got the game started with a long 71 yard pass from Brees to Thomas for his 2nd touchdown of the preseason. The defense bit on a play action and Thomas found himself alone behind the secondary.

After the 2 minute warning in the 2nd quarter Brees would find Lance Moore on the left hand side and he would sprint down field for a 66 yard touchdown catch. Hartley would miss his first extra point of the night. With less than :30 remaining on the clock, Meachem would fumble a screen pass and Morgan Trent would pick it up and take it all the way for Cincinnati's first touchdown of the game. New Orleans only had 1 play after that but Brees found Devery Henderson on a fade route and connected to score another touchdown, only to have Hartley miss another extra point.

After halftime both teams would struggle to get the ball moving but eventually with around 5 minutes to go the saints put a drive together and Bush managed to squeeze through the defense and score his 1st touchdown of the preseason.

In the 4th, the Bengals would get their only offensive touchdown of the game with a lobbed pass from JT O'Sullivan to Purify in the back of the corner for 6. Hartley would miss his only field goal attempt of the game with about 2 minutes left in the game. Cincinnati's attempt at a comeback were stopped when they attempted to go for it on 4th and inches only to be stopped in the backfield.

The Saints take on the 0-2 Kansas City Chiefs in next week's game.

Hey! Awesome! Cool dynasty here. And football-freaks is an awesome Madden resource. Make sure to check out NZA's franchise guide, it's pretty frustrating to get through Madden 08 franchise mode without it. Wacky progression/draft logic in particular.

This'll be nice to follow. Saw the second page first and thought 'hey, isn't that Madden 08?...'

Also, nice to see Mo Purify getting some serious time in Cincinnati. What's he rated in this game? I thought he was on the roster bubble in real life.

np man and yeah they have a crapload of stuff on that site. I might do another game today but I am going to kinda write a checklist of what all updates I want to do and what I will need to do them. Is their anything else that I need to change? I am thinking about going to 15 minute quarters and maybe raising the difficulty but my only problem is kicking which I really suck at apparently.

I usually do accelerated clock + 11 or maybe 12 minutes. I think more minutes gives you more accurate # plays/game, but I usually go with less so that the total yards/game is more accurate. I think in season you're set and it's all just personal preference. Oh, maybe use NZA's editor to change the coach settings so you get more 4000yd passers and fewer 2000 yd rushers out of the game from the other 31 teams. Offseason's where you gotta watch out so Madden doesn't screw up some teams (starting with season 3 or so, teams with 'player distractions' get massive awr reductions for every player and dumb things like that)

and i hear you on the kicking. it's terrible, i always lose focus and kick with 0 accuracy.

I had it on 10+Accel clock but in the next game I have it set for 15+Accel clock and I will see if I like the difference or not. Do you have a link to the editor? Or know what subforum it is under on Football-Freaks? I might need it anyway because I had to turn off salary budget for this first season do to 3 teams being over the limit but they say in the offseason I should be able to turn it back on.

It's not that I am bad it is just so fast but usually if I manage to get some number instead of all zeros it usually goes pretty straight.
