Re: Black and Gold to the Super Bowl (Madden Franchise)

Here's NZA's franchise guide, which has links to the two editors you might want to try out: http://football-freaks.com/forums/in...howtopic=22006

NZA's editor edits just about anything (including salary cap), and I use MaddenAmp as outlined in that thread to do the drafting in the offseason. mostly because i hope it makes other teams draft smarter, but it's a lil tedious.

I swear Madden plays tricks on you sometime, the speed the kicking bar moves is not the same every time. or maybe I'm really bad :P

Re: Black and Gold to the Super Bowl (Madden Franchise)

Thanks! I have been reading through that page for like the last 10 minutes and I appreciate you finding it for me. I have decided to go ahead and play the next 2 preseason games but not record them and just give the final preseason standings and maybe the stats.

AFC EAST
The only undefeated team of the preseason were the Miami Dolphins who capped off their final win with a game winning field goal with only a minute left in the 4th quarter against the New Orleans Saints. The Buffalo Bills also did pretty well but they lost starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick for the season with torn quadriceps. The Patriots had slight problems getting Tom Brady back into the action but their defense proved to be tight and might be there key component this year. The Jets were a minor disappointment even though Mark Sanchez did a good job leading the offense the defense was a major problem as they allowed over 100 points in just 4 games. LaDainian Tomlinson was a slight disappointment as he only managed 50 yards on 24 attempts.
AFC NORTH
Nobody expected the Browns to pull out 3 wins but Jake Delhomme fit in nicely with the team. The Ravens definitely are not the defensive powerhouse they were during Reed and Lewis' earlier years and it showed when the team were unable to hold onto several leads throughout preseason; both of their losses were by less than 4 points. The Bengals had a lot of locker room trouble after Chad OchoCinco demanded a trade allegedly and either way the status transferred onto the field where they were only able to pick up 1 win. The Steelers went 4-0 as expec..... oh wait they were 0-4. They were never blown out in any of their contests but they still were unable to convert and finished preseason as the only team below 25% 3rd down conversion success.
AFC SOUTH
The Titans had a similar situation like the Patriots but then again it is Vince Young so not much was expected offensively. The Jaguars and Colts were both expected to do slightly better than they did but they both finished at the .500 mark. The Texans actually did better than expected considering they had the Bears, Cowboys, and Cardinals scheduled.
AFC WEST
Once again a team had to surprise everyone and this time it was the dysfunctional Raiders who managed a 3-1 record. The Chargers were without Ladanian Tomlinson and they suffered as Darren Sproles was unable to be as productive as the Tomlinson of old. They did lose tackle Marcus McNeil for the entirety of the preseason and he is probable for week 1. The Broncos were slightly off as they tried to move past Jay Cutler but Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow were unable to get the offense going. The Chiefs were probably the worst performers all preseason as they barely managed to hit 50 points while almost giving up 100 to opponents. They are missing 3 players for 5 weeks or more and several minor injuries occurred throughout the weeks.
NFC EAST
How 'bout them Cowboys? Well they only managed to score a few more points than their opponents but it is the number under the "W" that counts. Miles Austin will miss the entire season with a broken tibia. The Eagles did pretty well without McNabb and it looks like Kevin Kolb might be the starter after he outdid Michael Vick during the preseason. The Redskins haven't been doing well lately but they did pretty decent considering they are still trying to get McNabb into the system. Where were the Giants though? They managed to still outscore opponents by 2 points but only won 1 game.
NFC NORTH
Aaron Rodgers is proving that there is more to Green Bay than the Favre legacy. AJ Hawk also came up big with 14 tackles for the team. Maybe it is time for Favre to hand it up? He barely did better than former Vikings starter Tavaris Jackson and had it not been for the high amount of interceptions by Jackson he might be the starter. The Bears were underachievers and lost Dan Lefevour for most of the season whereas the Lions actually did better than a few seasons ago so things are looking up for Matt Stafford and company.
NFC SOUTH
Pfft, who needs Delhomme when you have Clausen? The rookie quarterback took to the team well and he showed great accuracy on the field. The Saints were close to an undefeated preseason but lost at the last minute to the Dolphins. Brees was a perfect 7 touchdowns to 0 interceptions, Thomas barely beat out Bush for the starter spot (1 attempt for 18 yards to be exact), and apparently Hartley might be out of a job soon although he did pull it together toward the last 2 games. They missed Porter for most of the preseason but he will in fact miss the first game in Indy. Matt Ryan and the Falcons did not prove to be so hot and only won do to a missed XP in their final game. The Buccaneers are not the team they were at the start of the last decade and will need to get their defense in check quick as both the Saints and Panthers will be tough competition.
NFC WEST
Probably the only division where a clear winner can be chosen so early. The Rams did the best scoring wise while the Cardinals who became well known for their passing attack during their Super Bowl run 2 years ago were practically silent on the road with Leinart at the helm. The Seahawks were disappointing offensively but if neither team scores it is still technically possible to win. The 49ers were the worst team offensively as they came in last in all offensive categories except for turnovers which that just depends on which way you look at the stat.

Re: Black and Gold to the Super Bowl (Madden Franchise)

Thanks, I simmed the season just to see what would happen and Carolina went undefeated and the Saints finished at like 6-10. We lost our game in Carolina by 40 points. Also Tom Brady went out for his career due to something in his foot. Is it bad that I lol'ed?

Imma do the new depth chart which will have Mark Simoneau's ugly mug back on it do to me needing to be able to have that extra linebacker and when I saw him I knew it would be easy to wrtie him back in. I might also preview our schedule if I am still not bored. No games until maybe late tomorrow.

QUARTERBACK
The Saints are basically set at the QB position. Brees came in with Bush and Payton and has become a leader for the team and a role model for the community. But in the horrendous possibility that he might go down at anytime, rookie Chase Daniel showed that he has what it take during preseason to lead the team down field, it will just be keeping it in receiver's hands and not defenders'.
RUNNING BACK
The Saints are also set at running back with 2, 25 year old speedsters who very well could start for any other team in the league. Thomas has a little bit more power while Bush adds that unmatchable speed that many teams seek and only few get (see Chicago, Philly, and Tennessee). For now Thomas will be the starter when there is a full backfield and Bush will sub in during single back and shotgun plays. They also are pretty solid with Heath Evans as also one of the best fullbacks in the league.
WIDE RECEIVER
The almost unsigned 7th round out of Hofstra, Marques Colston, looks to lead the Saints again and his support is slowly trying to match his potential. Robert Meachem and Lance Moore are also solid targets and Devery Henderson is always a deep threat as seen in preseason. The Saints have one of the best tight ends with Jeremy Shockey who is probably rejoicing his move down south now.
OFFENSIVE LINE
Not much can be said here as the Saints have a fairly average O line, Stinchcomb is still the only pro bowl quality player they have and he will need to step it up because both starting center Jonathan Goodwin and backup right guard Kendall Simmons will miss the first few games with injuries
DEFENSIVE LINE
Sedrick Ellis has proven to be a huge chunk of the wall that helped the Saints win their first Super Bowl, add Will Smith to the line and you have a section of the Berlin Wall on your fantasy team. The Saints also signed Terrence Taylor in the preseason to add a slight bit of depth so that even the backups have a backup.
LINEBACKER
Vilma still captains the middle section of the defense but with the way Dhani Jones played in the preseason after the Saints gained him from the Bengals, Vilma might have some competition. Mark Simoneau also has been resigned after previously being cut after being on IR. He didn't seem to have any hard feelings though so he should perform well should he need to be put in.
DEFENSIVE BACK
Tracy Porter has been hailed as a saint for the Saints, but he will unfortunately not be able to make a last minute pick six for the Super Bowl rematch in week 1 in Indy due to his injury he picked up in preseason. Patrick Robinson proved to be a pretty good pick for the Saints in the 1st round and could see some time in Week 1. Darren Sharper and Roman Harper return as the safety duo for the team although a replacement for Sharper might be needed soon as he may be considering retirement after his contract expires this spring.
KICKING
Do we really have to mention this part? Needless to say things did not look good during preseason where Garrett Hartley managed to miss several field goals and extra points which made things just that more stressful for Sean Payton. Thomas Morstead is a decent punter and might get the kicking job if Hartley doesn't turn it around soon. After Bush gets another chance as a running back it will determine if he or Christine Roby get the primary returner spot.

Re: Black and Gold to the Super Bowl (Madden Franchise)

Schedule Review.jpg
A weird schedule none the less. The Saint's first test is right away as they travel to Indianapolis for the Super Bowl rematch/Opening Game/Thursday Night Football/Game of the Week or whatever else you want to call it. These two teams might actually find themselves playing again should things go down like they did last season.

The Bucs should be an easy practice game and if Chris Johnson can be slowed down the Titans game should have similar results. The Saints get the 4th week off before taking on Carolina to fight for early dominance in the NFC South.

The Saints then get there feather clippers ready as they travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks and then come home to face the Falcons in another NFC South game. Then they get to travel back to the west coast to take on the 49ers and then come back home to take on the Jaguars unless they are too jet lagged or want to spend their frequent flier miles.

They then have another 2 easy games with the Rams coming down to the Big Easy and then they get to head to Texas to take on Houston before taking a flight to Carolina in what could decide the winner of the NFC South (and who gets the Wild Card spot instead).

Another pair of easy games as the Saints face the Buccaneers at home and the Falcons in the ATL to finish NFC South play. The next back to back home games against the Cardinals and Eagles could prove vital if the Saints are unable to capitalize early on against certain opponents. Finally the Saints get to travel to ******* Chicago where they get to visit the Bears in the winter. Oh yay!

Overall it is very likely for the Saints to finish anywhere from 11-5 to 13-3 depending on how the Carolina games go and if the Saints don't have sleep problems jumping from the West Coast to New Orleans several times in the middle of the seasons.
