Re: SEC Surprise: Kentucky Wildcats (NCAA 2011)

Hartline Out, Newton In At Quarterback

It was only a matter of time until this move was made. Mike Hartline, the senior quarterback of the Kentucky Wildcats, has been dropped to No. 2 on the depth chart behind sophomore Morgan Newton. Newton's coming out party this season was three games again in the 20-9 win against Mississippi State, but he injured his pectoral muscle and would miss the Memphis game.

Against Memphis, Mike Hartline had his best game, but even that effort wasn't enough to bring home a win against a team that should not come in to Lexington and compete, let alone steal a game from an SEC team. In the Vanderbilt game, Hartline started and threw two incompletions in the first series. With both receivers wide open, the team gave off a vibe that forced the coach's hand to make the swap.

After accounting for 264 yards (231 passing, 33 rushing) in the game, Morgan Newton was named the starting quarterback. Look for Newton's legs to add a new dimension to this offense as his speed is something that must be utilized to get the full value out of his skills.

Kentucky Locks Up New Backfield

In the past couple weeks, the Wildcats have gotten commitments from both a fullback and a halfback. Steve Holmes, a one-star fullback out of South Laurel, Maryland, committed to Kentucky as it was the biggest program offering him a scholarship with a need at the position. He could see some action early, but he will be a work in progress.

The halfback is Josh White from South Euclid, Ohio. Ohio State was kicking the tires on White, but Kentucky showed him the love and locked him up. At 5'8", 190-pounds, White is listed as a "power back", but he does have some shiftiness to him. He's got some good open field moves such as the spin and the juke, so it will be interesting to see how this kid pans out.

Here's a review of the current Kentucky recruiting class:

Re: SEC Surprise: Kentucky Wildcats (NCAA 2011)

Tough loss to the Vols. 4 INT's that hurts.. I have had a few of those type of games though.

By the way, I created Adam Rizzo as a MLB for my Las Vegas Vipers team, along with Michael James (Franchise) and 2 players by Dynasty Josh, bringing back almost all the members of the Orginal Fab 5.

If you get a chance check it out sometime. I am playing it as a Online Dynasty, and made it public so guys could check it all the info on there as well but so far nobody has seemed to have any luck accessing it.

I missed a 30 yard FG as time expired that would have sent it in to overtime. I was never so upset at myself in quite some time. With four interceptions, I wasn't expecting to win, but their kicker missed three field goals keeping me in the game.

I'll definitely check out your Vegas dynasty now.
