Battle for the Megaphone
The Megaphone Trophy is awarded each year to the winner of the football game between the University of Notre Dame and Michigan State University. It was introduced in 1949. The Notre Dame side of the trophy is blue, while the Michigan State side is green. The rivalry includes many great games, such as The Game of the Century, arguably the greatest college football game ever played. Notre Dame currently leads the all-time series 45-28-1.
#25 MSU 1-1(0-0) vs #17 ND 1-0(0-0)
Overall Rating: B ------ B
Offense Rating: B+ ------ A-
Defense Rating: B ------ B
Preview:
MSU needs to get the running game going early in this one, too keep Notre Dames high powered offense off the field as much as possible. Also, Cousins needs to keep playing at a high level if MSU wants to keep the megaphone trophy 2 consecutive years.
Review:
Spartans lose after Cousins throws 4 picks, dropping them to 1-2. Things started going downhill when Caper left after the 1st quarter with elbow bursitis, the running game just never got going after that, which forced MSU to throw more than they would like too. Then Notre Dames defense got aggressive, bring pressure from any where, causing Cousins to over throw open receivers and into coverage.
E. Baker(#4) powers his way into the end zone from 6 yards out. This is the only highlight from the running game today.
K. Cousins day started off good, as he throw this 10 yard touchdown pass to B. Cunningham(#4).
K. Cousins(#8) played poorly today, throwing 4 picks and only 1 touchdown.
