There is no real definite starter here, but James will be getting a good portion of the carries and the speedier back, Nick Hill, will get quite a few also.

2. Alex Williams 6'3'' 244lbs (RS)Junior

Tony Evans has been a solid fullback the last couple years and this year will be no different.
Wide Receivers

2. Keith Mumphery 5'11'' 205lbs (RS)Senior
3. Blake Prince 5'10'' 178lbs (RS)Freshman

Jason Suggs 6'3'' 177lbs (RS)Freshman
Noah Cason 6'2'' 178lbs (RS)Junior
Blake Mills 5'11'' 170lbs Freshman
Grade - C+
Mumphery and Langford are back and are even more a deep threat then last year. Also, the freshman, Blake Prince is moving up the depth chart fast... He is a player too watch for this year. Overall, Boisture has some pretty dangerous weapons to throw too.
Tight Ends
1. Chase Godfrey 6'5'' 255lbs Senior
2. Cameron Taylor 6'7'' 222lbs Senior
3. Alex Williams 6'3'' 244lbs (RS)Junior
Justin Rosario 6'2'' 250lbs Sophomore
Keith Morrow 6'5'' 265lbs Freshman
Grade - C
The breakout player last year, Chase Godfrey, adds another great receiving threat to Boisture's arsenal. Also don't forget about Taylor, he has some of the best hands on the team.
Tackles
1LT. Skyler Schofner 6'7'' 294lbs (RS)Senior
1RT. Brady Thompson 6'6'' 282lbs Senior
2LT. Trey Williams 6'7'' 333lbs (RS)Junior
2RT. Dave Hunt 6'4'' 328lbs (RS)Junior
3LT. Michael Fields 6'5'' 315lbs (RS)Junior
Brian Whitmore 6'5'' 303lbs Freshman
Grade - C+
Schofner and Thompson have greatly improved in the off-season, especially on their pass blocking, since they have to keep Boisture up and give him enough time against the vicious pass rush of the Big Ten.
Guards
1LG. Dominique Price 6'5'' 327lbs Junior
1RG. Travis Jackson 6'4'' 284lbs (RS)Senior
2LG. Ryan Ward 6'5'' 300lbs (RS)Sophomore
2RG. Kevin Smith 6'4'' 304lbs (RS)Freshman
3LG. Joey Ward 6'1'' 292lbs (RS)Freshman
Joe Wiggins 6'5'' 294lbs (RS)Junior
Grade - B+
Travis Jackson once again secures the right spot and Coach Young got a very good Juco player, in Dominique Price.
Centers
1. James Smith 6'0'' 284lbs Freshman
2. Brock Miller 6'2'' 299lbs (RS)Junior
Grade - C+
The true Freshman, James Smith, will take over the Center position and many are worried he is too young to control the offensive line. But, from what we saw in the off-season he will be one of the best offensive lineman to come through MSU when he graduates.
Spartans Defense
returning starters -
Defensive Ends
1LE. Tim Brown 6'6'' 214lbs Junior
1RE. Marcus McCray 6'3'' 266lbs (RS)Junior
2LE. Taylor Calero 6'3'' 242lbs (RS)Senior
2RE. Brian Dowdell 6'4'' 223lbs Freshman
Dustin Watson 6'1'' 230lbs Freshman
Grade - C
With the departure of Gholston the defense, and defensive line, are in need of a play maker. Tim Brown needs to step up and show the nation why he earned that 4 star rating coming out of high school.
Defensive Tackles
1. Robert Mosley 6'6'' 323lbs (RS)Sophomore
2. George Thompson 6'4'' 278lbs (RS)Freshman
3. Anthony White 6'3'' 323lbs (RS)Senior
4. Christian Slaughter 6'1'' 276lbs Junior
Grade - B-
Although they are young, Mosley and Thompson are very strong run stoppers and ample pass rushers. One of these two might be a break out star the Spartans need.
Outside Linebackers
1LOLB. Matt Brooks 6'5'' 226lbs Junior
1ROLB. Justin Austin 5'11'' 227lbs Junior
2LOLB. Justin Wilson 6'0'' 227lbs (RS)Senior
2ROLB. Pat Mitchell 5'11'' 199lbs Freshman
3LOLB. Cedric Robinson 6'2'' 187lbs (RS)Sophomore
Grade - C
Norman was a very important part of this defense, in stopping the run and covering passes. With him gone Just Austin and Matt Brooks are going to need to play smart to stop the big name backs in the Big Ten.
Middle Linebackers
1. Max Bullough 6'3'' 234lbs (RS)Senior
2. Clint Poole 6'3'' 220lbs (RS)Junior
3. Pat Mitchell 5'11'' 199lbs Freshman
Garth Evans 6'0'' 225lbs Freshman
Grade - C+
Much like Norman, Hammock was a key part of the Spartan's stingy defense last year. But unlike the Outside Linebacker position, the Spartan's have a player just as good to replace him.
Corner Backs
1. Justin Fry 6'1'' 175lbs (RS)Junior
2. LaRue Walker 5'9'' 181lbs Junior
3. Kurtis Drummond 6'2'' 202lbs (RS)Senior
4. Chris Smith 5'11'' 175lbs (RS)Sophomore
5. Brett McGill 6'1'' 180lbs (RS)Junior
Grade - C+
Don't expect to see as many picks as last year, because Parker is now playing on Sundays. Also don't sleep on Justin Fry, he is a very solid Defensive Back with very good coverage skills across the board. Also, Walker isn't too bad himself.
Free Safeties
1. Isaiah Lewis 5'11'' 194lbs (RS)Senior
2. Mickey Mayfield 6'2'' 206lbs Sophomore
Grade - C+
Unlike many of the stars of last years defense, Isaiah Lewis is back and wants a Big Ten championship. Lewis is one of the best Free Safeties in all of the NCAA and will be key factor in whether or not this Spartans defense can keep points off the board.
Strong Safeties
1. Shawn Davis 6'3'' 201lbs Senior
2. David Walton 6'3'' 217lbs (RS)Sophomore
Marques Simon 6'3'' 196lbs Freshman
Grade - C
Davis was just a quick replacement, last year, for Jarius Jones. But toward the end of the season he proved he was more than that, Davis is a solid tackler and one of the hardest hitters on the Spartans.
Spartans Special Teams
returning starters - 4
Kickers
1. Casey Long 5'11'' 178lbs Sophomore
2. Jonathan Mason 6'1'' 182lbs (RS)Sophomore
Grade - B-
The Big Ten All-American kicker, Casey Long had a fantastic season last year; making 80% of his field goals and all of his extra point attempts. But he still wants to improve on that, expect the Spartans to lean on him in those close games.
Punters
1. Jonathan Mason 6'1'' 182lbs (RS)Sophomore
2. Casey Long 6'1'' 182lbs Sophomore
Grade - C
Jonathan Mason is a solid punter with a big foot and it got a little bigger in the off-season.
Kick Returners
1. Keith Mumphery 5'11'' 205lbs (RS)Senior
2. Jeremy Langford 6'0'' 189lbs (RS)Senior
Grade - B-
Although Mumphery didn't return a kick he gave the Spartans some good field position. But this year don't be surprised if Langford is the one returning kicks for touchdowns.
Punt Returners
1. Keith Mumphery 5'11'' 205lbs (RS)Senior
2. Jeremy Langford 6'0'' 189lbs (RS)Senior
Grade - B-
Mumphery almost took a couple punts to the house last year and this year he will, more than likely, do it.
Overall Grade - C+
After the Spartan's strong start in 2013 they kind of fizzed out toward the end of the season, which was very disappointing for MSU fans. Although, this defense has lost some very important players they will still be near the top and the offense will be returning 8 starters. So, a conference championship isn't out of the question. It all depends on whether the Spartan's defense can stop opponents and whether Boisture and this experienced offense can score points.
