Re: The Bayou Bengals - An LSU Tigers Photo Dynasty (NCAA 11)
NEWS AND INJURY UPDATES - Week 7
The weekend in Gainesville ended well for the Tigers after all, at least on the recruiting front. LSU landed two ESPN Top150 recruits in G Doug Thompson and DT Chris Gant.
-Doug Thompson is rated the #3 Offensive Guard in the class, he is listed at 6'5" 288 lbs and is out of Portland, Texas.
Head Coach Frank Wilson - "Doug is the type of player that secures a program like ours for the next four years. He is a big boy who's tough in the trenches and should really help the running game along. We're very satisfied with his commitment."
-Chris Gant is rated the #8 overall Defensive Tackle in the class, he is listed at 6'4" 283 lbs and is out of Coral Springs, Florida.
Head Coach Frank Wilson - "Chris Gant is a bull-rush speed guy up front. We're trying to move to a speedier front and Chris is the model player for that approach. We've been in contact with Chris since I got here last December and it came down to, I think us and Florida State and maybe Miami, so for us to land a kid like this shows that we have a solid recruiting pull in that state (Florida) right now."

vs
BATON ROUGE (AP) - LSU was able to bounce back after a tough loss to Florida and beat the Division 1-AA McNeese State Cowboys 41-14 Saturday.
For the Tigers it was a recovery weekend. The LSU coaching staff made the decision to cancel Friday's practice in leu of rest. And it payed off as LSU out-gained the Cowboys by more than 200 yards easing their way to a comfortable win.
LSU improved to 5-2 on the season and will travel to 6-1 Auburn next weekend in another showdown for SEC West division placement.

Re: The Bayou Bengals - An LSU Tigers Photo Dynasty (NCAA 11)
NEWS AND INJURY UPDATES - Week 8
-According to Frank Wilson, Michael Ford will be inactive this weekend against Auburn. Ford has a foot problem and did not practice all week.
-LSU has received two more big commits out of the state of Louisiana this week.
Lorenzo Noble is the #10 rated ATH player in the class, he is out of Avondale, LA. Noble is listed at 6'2" 177 lbs and plays quarterback/defensive back and is the captain for West Jefferson High School.
-Frank Wilson on Noble "He's the type of athlete that fits our system perfectly. We envision him being a big time corner for us in the future...but I think it's not out of the question that he could also get time on the offensive side of the ball as a receiver. He comes in a little light but he'll be in our summer weight program so that will change."
The second prospect and arguably the biggest commitment this year so far is Safety Aaron Fowler. Fowler is the #3 rated Strong Safety and the #12 overall player in the class. Fowler is the highest rated prospect out of the state of Louisiana. He is in his senior year at Bogalusa High School where he has rushed for over 1200 yards with 11 touchdowns as well as 5 interceptions and a forced fumble on defense.
-Wilson on Fowler "Obviously a big time commitment, he'll likely play right away for us next season in some sort of role. He's in great shape and will be one of the quickest players on the field next year and that's saying a lot in this conference."

vs
AUBURN (AP) - Another week and another top 25 matchup out of the SEC West. Saturday afternoon #20 LSU traveled to Auburn to face the #21 Tigers. LSU prevailed by a score of 19-7.
The game, which was mostly a defensive battle with teams trading blows throughout the afternoon, was tied at just 7 at the half. Both teams combined for a total of 176 first half yards.
LSU's first possession of the 2nd half ended on Auburn's 39 yard line. The LSU coaching staff elected to punt and brought in pootch-punt specialist Josh Jasper. Jasper pinned Auburn on their own 2 yard line. Three plays later LSU DE Barkevious Mingo sacked Auburn Quarterback Cameron Newton for a safety and put LSU up 9-7.
That score would hold until late in the game when Jasper knocked in a 39 yard field goal to put LSU up 12-7. On the first play of the ensuing drive for Auburn Newton threw his second interception of the day to Jai Eugene and Eugene took the pickoff in for six to put LSU up comfortably 19-7.
By the end of the day LSU had come away with another big road victory as they snapped Auburn's four game win streak. LSU has now won four straight games in the Tiger Brawl rivalry.
Next weekend Auburn will travel to Mississippi to take on the Rebels. LSU has a bye week next week but will meet #2 Alabama at home in two weeks.

Re: The Bayou Bengals - An LSU Tigers Photo Dynasty (NCAA 11)
So we've reached that point in the season where there is a week off to regroup and touch base. First off I want to thank all of you still following. I really do appreciate the support, it makes the games that much more fun to play knowing I have people waiting for an update!
Since their is no game this week I've decided to update you guys on some of the LSU stats thus far as well as some clarification on how I have run things offensively and defensively. Also I want to update the complete list of committed prospects so far. I'll also give you some insight into what other teams in the SEC have done/been doing as well as a look at the Heisman race.

2010 LSU PLAYER STATS - THROUGH WEEK 9
PASSING JEFFERSON 87-163, 1315 YDS, 8 TD, 4 INT, 53% COMP J. LEE 17-36, 277 YDS, 1 TD, 2 INT, 47% COMP
This season Jordan Jefferson has been the guy taking the majority of the snaps for LSU. Jarrett Lee has been used for longer passing situations i.e. 3rd and long, 4th downs...mostly throwing situations where we need a little better arm.
Mostly been going with a two back system. Ridley has gotten more carries based on the fact that he's more of a pound-it-out runner. While Murphy is more of a speed back for us. The pound-it-out/kill the clock runner has been needed more in the past few weeks. Ford has been a nice compliment as well, really took off in the Florida game.
There are a few more with minimal receptions, however this is the area that has struggled the most for us this season, and it's not even their fault. Between Jefferson and Lee they just haven't gotten the ball there enough. The first three names up there are WAY too talented to have those kind of numbers. The rest of the way out look for added touches from both Shepard and Randle.
TACKLES - DEFENSE K. SHEPPARD 51 TOT, 44 SOLO BAKER 36 TOT, 30 SOLO EUGENE 34 TOT, 28 SOLO TAYLOR 29 TOT, 24 SOLO
Sheppard has led most of the season in tackles throughout the country. He is currently second behind Will Fleming's 45 tackles at Akron.
INTERCEPTIONS P. PETERSON 3 EUGENE 2 FRANCOIS 1 CLAIBORNE 1
The guy we want leading is leading. Although the opposition hasn't really thrown his way all too much this year.
SACKS K. ADAMS 3 LEVINGSTON 2 NEVIS 2 MONTGOMERY 2
There are a number of players with 1 sack. Kendrick Adams, the JUCO transfer from last year, has been a nice addition up front for us. Barkevious Mingo has also earned a decent amount of playing time this season.
That's what's going on here at LSU. Tomorrow i'll break down what's happening elsewhere in the SEC.
