Hmm. That's actually a very interesting idea. Right now I like Pitt's playbook and I'm playing the first game right now, but afterwords I'll test out Stanford's and see how it is. Thanks for the heads up and checking in.

Re: Don't Mess With Tradition - krulmichael's Michigan Wolverines

Week 1 - Game Report

Connecticut Huskies (0-0) at Michigan Wolverines (0-0)

Sophomore sensation QB Tate Forcier ran wild on UConn's defense.

Ann Arbor, MI (AP) - Opening Day of the 2010 College Football season is here folks! On a beautiful 65 degree sunny day in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Coach Michael Kleinbauer looks to continue his tenure as the Wolverines head coach in hopes for another winning season along with molding the team back into it's pro-style roots.

UConn would win the coin toss and elect to receive as redshirt Freshman kicker Brendan Gibbons kicked the ball off to start the season. Starting from their 22 yard, redshirt Senior QB Zach Frazier would bring his Huskies offense out on the field and start from the pistol immediately going into a no huddle offense. Michigan's defense is tested right out the gates as they look a bit shaken as Frazier moves his offense right down the field into Wolverines territory at their 35. On a 3rd and 14, UConn runs a HB Draw to pick up 13 yards as the offense stays on the field set to go for it on 4th and 1. A HB stretch play to Junior HB Jordan Todman as he gets stopped behind the line by the redshirt Freshman FS Cameron Gordon! Michigan football at their 29.

Sophomore QB Tate Forcier would head out on the field with his offense and start the season off from the I-Form, a relief to many Wolverines fans around the nation. Albeit only a 1 yard gain, they followed it with a 11 yard pass to the Junior, Junior Hemingway that is. Disaster would strike on the following play however as HB Michael Shaw was stripped of of the football with a Huskie falling on the football. Almost a repeat result of the Huskies first drive as they get down to the Wolverines 13 yard line before facing a 4th and 2 as their offense would again stay out on the field and again the Wolverines defense would hold to give their offense another shot at their own 13.

Forcier moved his team right down the field this time with his arm and legs, picking up some key first downs on 3rd down. Eventually getting all the way down to the Huskies 4 yard line. On 2nd and goal Forcier would take the snap, drop back 2 yards before throwing a laser to the redshirt Sophomore Roy Roundtree on the slant for a Wolverines touchdown! 7-0 Michigan with a little over 5 minutes remaining in the half. Michigan's defense finally held UConn's fast-paced offense to a 3 and out the next drive forcing them to punt. Starting from their 22 yard line, Forcier and co stepped onto the field once more. Not wanting to jinx Forcier, but he looked very sharp in todays game in his first start in Coach Kleinbauer's pro-style offense. Throwing accurate passes and creating some excitement with his legs as from the Huskies 37 yard line he dropped back to pass with the pressure coming he stepped up into the pocket, shifted gears and ran all the way down the sidelines stiff arming a defender before being tackled from behind at UConn's 3 yard line! Almost on cue though, Tate made his first mistake throwing into coverage for an interception giving the ball back right before halftime. The teams headed into the locker room with the Wolverines sitting with a 7-0 lead.

Michigan received the football at the start of the 2nd half as fellow Sophomore QB, speedy Denard Robinson took the field as Coach Kleinbauer stated during Spring Training that he wasn't sure exactly where Denard would fit in at, but that he would get playing time. The man they call "Shoelaces" showed off his arm and legs on this drive capping it off with a great 36 yard throw to the Junior WR Darryl Stonum for the touchdown! That drive might have been a statement from Denard Robinson to his coach that he can be an effective QB as well. 14-0 Wolverines as they come out of halftime with something to prove. The Wolverines defense fed off of their offense forcing another punt on a 3 and out.

Towards the end of the 3rd quarter after both teams went back and forth for a bit, Forcier would find Junior WR Martavious Odoms wide open in the back of the endzone for a touchdown giving the Wolverines a comfortable 20-0 lead heading into the 4th quarter (the freshman kicker missed the extra point).

No more points would be scored as Michigan ran the clock down on offense while UConn's offense continued to struggle. If this game was any indication of how the Wolverines season is going to go, things are looking up for Coach Kleinbauer's Maize n' Blue. The final score in this one, Michigan shuts out Connecticut 20-0.

Re: Don't Mess With Tradition - krulmichael's Michigan Wolverines

Week 2 - Game Report

Michigan Wolverines (1-0) at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-0)

You Want Ridiculous Turnovers? You Got Them.

Redshirt Freshman FS Cameron Gordon. You'll Remember That Name Come Seasons End.

Ann Arbor, MI (AP) - South Bend Indiana is the location for one of the greatest rivalries in sports between the Michigan Wolverines (1-0) and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-0). A beautiful day for football as partly cloudy skies and a light breeze roll through Notre Dame Stadium.

The Fighting Irish won the coin toss and elected to receive first to get this game started. Michigan's defense came out the blocks slowly once again against Notre Dame's fast-paced no huddle spread offense allowing them to get to the 21 before stopping them. Just like last week against UConn, the Wolverines defense caught another break as the Sophomore K Nich Tausch missed a 38 yard field goal wide right to give the ball the Michigan's offense for the first time today. Tate Forcier and company trotted onto the field and 3 plays later they trotted right back off due to a bad pitch on an option by Forcier that gave the ball right back to the Irish's offense. After a couple plays Notre Dame found themselves on Michigan's 3 yard line, coming out in a 5-wide set, redshirt Sophomore QB Dayne Christ would make a costly mistake by throwing it to seemingly open WR before the redshirt Freshman FS Cameron Gordon jumped in front of the wayward pass with nothing but daylight in front of him for an NCAA record 100 yard interception return! 7-0 Wolverines still early in the 1st quarter as this game looks to be an exciting one.

Following the turnover score Notre Dame's offense would chug down the field again, but the Wolverines defense has been playing a bend, but don't break defense so far this season as the Irish would trust their kicker enough to try a 55 yard field goal and he certainly would redeem himself by booting it through as Michigan allowed it's first points of the season. 7-3 Wolverines. After picking up a nice first down, for the second straight week the Junior HB Michael Shaw would cough up the football on his 1st carry again! Notre Dame got great field position once more as they were on the Wolverines 47 going under a minute left in the 1st quarter as Coach Kleinbauer shook his head in disgust. Once again Notre Dame found themselves in goal line range and once more the Wolverines defense stepped up stopping them. The very sporadic Tausch this time from 22 yards out hit the uprights as he was denied and it would be Wolverines ball still 7-3, unbelievable! Another solid drive by the Wolverines in the making, but disaster almost struck again as the redshirt Sophomore HB Michael Cox got his first touches of the season in replace for the 2nd string Michael Shaw, but he fumbles as well! Luckily the Wolverines fell on the football but Coach Kleinbauer has to be livid with his HB's (aside from thge starting Sophomore Vincent Smith). 2 sacks in a row would force the Wolverines to try a long 54 yard field goal. The left-footed redshirt Freshman K Brendan Gibbons booted it right down the middle but just short as he missed it. Both teams would end up going back and forth for the rest of the half before the rising freshman FS Cameron Gordon picked off his 2nd pass of the game and Forcier got his offense into scoring range as Gibbons made the 48 yard field goal this time with both teams going into halftime with the Wolverines leading 10-3.

Michigan received the ball and started from the 22 to start the half. Just like last week after the half, Sophomore QB Denard "Shoelaces" Robinson stepped onto the field to run the offense. The results weren't nearly as good as last week's though as after picking up a quick first down the offense stalled and were forced to punt the ball back. The Wolverines defense continued to frustrate Crist though as he threw his 3rd pick of the game, this time to another redshirt Freshman, CB Justin Turner giving his offense the ball at their 40. Robinson trotted back onto the field as it looks like Coach Kleinbauer wanted to give him another shot. After picking up a huge gain through the air Robinson would run an option and just like Forcier did in the first half, pitched it right to the defender to give the Fighting Irish offense another shot. This game has been turnover mania. On that note, Crist threw his 4th pick of the game, this time it was to the stud Sophomore DE Craig Roh who was playing the flats and had daylight as he returned it 39 yards highstepping his way into the endzone giving his team a little breathing room, 17-3 Wolverines.

Few extra notes from the game:

Both teams went on a scoring tear in the 4th quarter.
Cameron Gordon picked off Crist for a 3rd time (Crist threw 6 total).
A total of 9 turnovers this game (6 from Notre Dame, 3 from Michigan).
