You are correct; Georgia is #2. Sometimes weird things happen in this game, like Cincinnati being 3-6, Florida being 6-4, Syracuse and Louisville sporting very good records, ect...

I beat both teams earlier this year by the skin of my teeth, but I've toughened up my sliders some since then, so I don't feel very confident against either team now.

In the last two seasons, the North Carolina Tar Heels had been the superior team in this rivalry game. And both season, they fell short, losing 41-10 at home in 2008 and 28-27 in Raleigh last season. This year, things flipped around.
North Carolina came into this game with a 6-4 record, inferior to NC State's 8-2 record. But like past years, the supposedly worse team prevailed.
The North Carolina Tar Heels completely routed the NC State Wolfpack today, jumping out to a 27-7 halftime lead and going on to win 55-31 in a game that was never really close.
This year has been a special year for the Wolfpack, who clinched the ACC Atlantic Division Championship last week since they own the tie-breaker over Florida State. However, today all was sullen in Raleigh as the Tar Heels beat the Wolfpack like rag dolls, accounting for 605 yards of total offense and 55 points. NC State's defense had shown strides of improvement this year after a disastrous 2009 campaign, but that all went out the window today as the Tar Heels moved the ball up and down the field with tremendous ease.
"It was embarrassing," said NC State head coach Tom O'Brien. "We just got steamrolled out there like we were a Sun Belt team."
And the Tar Heels did this without their starting quarterback T.J. Yates, who missed the game due to an injury. Backup quarterback Bryn Renner came in and directed the UNC offense with stunning precision as he completed 19 of 24 passes for a career-high 360 yards and three touchdowns.
Russell Wilson was one of the few bright spots for the Wolfpack as he threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Jarvis Williams also had a spectacular game as Wilson found him five times for 132 yards. Williams caught three of Wilson's four touchdown passes. Tight end George Bryan, who accounted for five receptions and 104 yards, caught Wilson's other touchdown pass.
NC State will look for their ninth win of the year next week as they take on the Maryland Terrapins in College Park to close out the regular season.

Another error of mine: Last week against Cincinnati WR Jock Sanders (SR) was injured and will not be back until WVU's bowl game. I forgot to mention that in my game report. Sorry about that.
Louisville Gives Mountaineers Their First Loss of the Season
The West Virginia Mountaineers sustained their first loss of the season this afternoon as the Louisville Cardinals surprisingly defeated them 24-16, effectively defeating any chance the Mountaineers had of reaching the National Championship Game.
Still, the Mountaineers control their own destiny as far as the Big East Title and its BCS berth is concerned as they take on Pittsburgh and Rutgers in the final two weeks of the season.
Offensively, the Mountaineers never could get anything going. West Virginia only gained 219 offensive yards and had a startling -12 yards rushing in the game. For a team that regularly rushed for over 300 yards a few years ago, that stat comes as nothing short of a shock. Louisville tried all they could to give the Mountaineers a win as the Cardinals turned the ball over a season-high six times, including four picks by quarterback Adam Froman, but the Mountaineers were so inept offensively that they could not take advantage of Louisville's errors.
"We got run over out there," explained West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart. "But we still control our own destiny in the Big East Title chase, so we'll be alright."
Noel Devine and Tavon Austin returned for this game in limited fashion, but were not much of a factor as their torn pectorals still seem to be bothering them.
With the loss, the Mountaineers drop to 8-1 and 4-1 in Big East play while Louisville improves to a surprising 9-2 with a 4-2 Big East record as Charlie Strong has really turned around Louisville this season to extents that never seemed possible prior to this season.
The pass that sealed a Louisville victory late in the fourth quarter, giving the Cardinals a crucial first down:
NCAA Scoreboard - West Virginia (8-1) at Louisville (9-2)
We've had 13-9. We've had 19-15. We've had 19-16. And now we've had 45-33. All have played pivotal factors in the Big East and/or National Championship races and all were upsets. This year was no different.
The West Virginia Mountaineers went into Pittsburgh hoping to get their ninth win of the year. Instead, they leave with their second loss of the season, dropping their record to 8-2.
And now, the Mountaineers no longer control their own destiny in the hunt for the Big East's BCS berth. If West Virginia wins next week, Pittsburgh will win the Big East providing they win next week. If West Virginia loses next week, Rutgers and Pittsburgh will share the Big East Title while Rutgers gets the honor of representing the Big East in the BCS.
Today the Mountaineers dominated the Panthers in all aspects of the game, except for one: turnovers. The 'Eers made stupid mistakes all game long, including a disastrous third quarter which essentially saw Geno Smith throw the game away with utterly stupid decisions. First, he threw an interception on a screen pass which was pick-sixed. Then, a few minutes later, his option pitch was picked off by a Pittsburgh defender and taken all the way to the end zone. Suddenly, instead of being up 24-17, the Mountaineers trailed 31-24. Bill Stewart was furious and ripped Smith out of the game.
In came Coley White, Pat White's brother. Coley actually played pretty well. In only a quarter-and-a-half of play, he totaled 201 passing yards. However, he only completed six of his 16 pass attempts. Ultimately, with the Mountaineers down 38-33 late in the fourth quarter, White fumbled the game away when he was smashed on a sack. The ball was snatched up by defensive tackle Chas Alecxih and take all the way back 25 yards to make the score 45-33 Pitt. The ultimate disgrace was that the lumbering defensive tackle managed to outrun everyone back to the end zone.
Ultimately, the Mountaineers will have to get back up and prepare for Rutgers next week, but after losing the Backyard Brawl to their rivals and losing their second consecutive game, WVU has a lot to think about.
