As did I, especially after Central Florida almost beat us at home the precious week. It would have been nice to beat UC, but I'll take a three-point loss. That's better than I expected.

WVU Narrowly Defeats Rival Terrapins

It was tough, but the Mountaineers narrowly edged the Maryland Terrapins in Morgantown this afternoon, winning by a touchdown. The Mountaineers trailed 20-10 late in the third quarter until J.T. Thomas made a huge play to change the course of the game.

Maryland was inside the red zone on their way to another score when the ball popped out of Maryland's Megget's hands. Linebacker J.T. Thomas snatched up the fumble and returned it 84 yards and took it to the house to bring the Mountaineers to within a field goal.

A few minutes later Geno Smith hit Jock Sanders on a slot route to give the Mountaineers the lead for good with the score 24-20. A Tyler Bitancurt field goal with under a minute left gave WVU a 27-20 lead when the final whistle sounded.

Both teams struggled offensively with WVU not even breaking the 300-yard mark. However, it was enough to get the victory over a rival.

"We didn't play our greatest games today," said Bill Stewart. "But we won, so we will take it. I think losing Noel [Devine] really hurt us today. We just couldn't find anyone that could really carry us offensively and it kept us from doing too much out there."

Unfortunately for the Mountaineers, second-string running back Tavon Austin was injured during the game and is expected to be out for around six weeks. This leaves the Mountaineers extremely thin in the running back position as they are now down to their third-stringer Shawne Alston.

NC State Upsets Georgia Tech

The NC State Wolfpack pulled off an eyebrow-raising upset this afternoon as they upset the 15th-ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Jackets lost the previous week to North Carolina, so this loss, which drops their record to 2-2 (0-2 ACC) marks their second consecutive loss.

NC State trailed 21-20 with 45 seconds left until wide receiver Darnell Davis found his way past the secondary on a streak pattern as he caught a 53 yard bomb thrown by Russell Wilson, which gave the Wolfpack a 26-21 lead with 34 seconds remaining. Although the two-point conversion was failed, the defense held up as NC State skirted out with a close victory.

The Wolfpack defense played brilliantly this afternoon. Georgia Tech did not break 200 yards in total offense during the game as Georgia Tech's running game was stuffed while their passing game was virtually nonexistent.

Russell Wilson starred for the Wolfpack this afternoon as he threw for 355 yards and three touchdowns, connecting most often with Darrell Davis, who caught seven passes for 122 yards and the game-winning touchdown.

Re: NC State Wolfpack/West Virginia Mountaineers (NCAA 11)

Also, I'm making slider adjustments in which I will help to tone down the USER defense as it is obviously overpowered. There's no way I should have contained Georgia Tech like that.

Also, I am raising my quarter lengths to 9 minutes (it was previously set at 8 minutes). I will post the slider set I'm using soon once I get it more finalized, although I'm basically using a modified version of Matt10's Heisman slider set.

Wow nice job defeating Georgia Tech, I really like the rate that the games are being updated at, it must be hard doing this with 2 colleges. So for that I give u props, great job man I can't wait to see how West Virginia did.
