Thanks for following. This next game is huge to me, I really want payback for UTEP's win last year and I need it for some promises. We'll see what happens.

Week 14 UTEP at New Mexico State (I-10 Rivalry)

Opportunity Lost

Las Cruces, NM:
The New Mexico State Aggies are a very fickle team as shown by their final regular season record of 6-6. At the beginning of today's game it looked like UTEP was going to run away with after pulling out to an early 21-0 lead. New Mexico State clawed their way back into it but ultimately fell because of a lack of playmakers on both sides of the ball. The Ags have one or two explosive players who can break a game open but they are usually kept under wraps by double teams from the opposing defense. Unfortunately for NMSU no one else stepped up this week and they lose once again to UTEP in their annual rivalry game.

We'll see if New Mexico State ultimately gets in a bowl game or not in the upcoming weeks.

2011 New Mexico Bowl Purdue vs. New Mexico State

Silenced

Albuquerque, NM:
Another disappointing end to a season for the New Mexico State Aggies happened today. The Purdue Boilermakers were entirely too much for New Mexico State on both sides of the ball. The lone bright spot for the Ags was Senior Defensive End Pierre Fils. He's been hurt on and off throughout the year but had 6 tackles for loss and 3 sacks by himself today. Unfortunately most of the NMSU roster decided not to show up ready to play today.

Today's loss marks another year without a bowl victory for New Mexico State, despite Coach Griswold leading them to two straight bowl games. We'll see if New Mexico State can salvage a recruiting class in the offseason and see what kind of effect the two transfers the Ags got in last year can have on the team. We'll be continuing to follow the situation and look forward to the next season.
