The Patriots openend up the season on a very strong note today, taking down the Cincinnati Bengals 34-21. The Bengals kept the game close in the first half, actually taking a 14-13 lead into halftime. But the Patriots came out firing on all cylinders on their first drive of the third quarter which ended in a 41 yard touchdown pass to Randy Moss.

The Patriots controlled the game from start to finish holding the ball for nearly 37 minuets of the total 48. This due in part to Laurence Maroney's 108 yards on the ground. With the good you must take the bad, and the bad of this game was that Tom Brady was hit a lot, and was forced to hurry many of his throws, even being sacked 4 times. But possibly the worst news from the game is yet another injury suffered by All-Pro wideout Wes Welker, who tore the same shoulder labrum he tore at some point last season, Welker will miss 3-4 weeks.

The Pats head out to the new staduim in the Meadowlands to face of against division foe the Jet's. New York squeaked out a win against Baltimore 21-20 to start the season 1-0, and are sure to give the Patriots all they can handle next week.

Any tips on how I could clean this up a little bit . I wish I could throw some videos into this but I lost the hardware to install my capture card hardware into my new laptop.

It's been since Madden 08 that I've made a franchise that I posted on any website, so some input would be nice.

Re: We're not done yet: A New England Patriots Franchise.

Week Two Preview

Coming off last week's impressive win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the Patriots travel to New York to face their division rival the New York Jets. New England split the season series with New York last year 1-1, but the Jets made it all the way to the AFC Championship game against the Colts, in where the Patriots where embarrased in the divisional round against the Ravens. The Patriots will look to come out strong against New York, and show that they are still the class of the AFC East.

Key Match-ups:
  • Randy Moss vs Darrel Revis
Moss was shut down twice last year by "Revis Island" and looks to come out this year and show last year was a fluke. The Patriots are going to need Moss to play well because of the injury to Wes Welker.

  • Mark Sanchez vs The Patriots Defense
Sanchez was very inconsistent last year with the Jet's, and didn't play very well against New England, even in the Jet's wins. Sanchez will have to improve on last years play if the Jets have any chance at a division crown this year.

  • New York's front 7 vs New England's Offensive Line
The Jet's were one of the NFL's best teams at getting to the QB last year, and after the Patriots line let Tom Brady get sacked 4 times by a much less talented Bengals team, the Patriots line will need to vastly improve this week if they want to keep Tom Brady upright for the game.

Prediction:

Patriots-20
New York-16

The Patriots will struggle to move the ball against the talented Jet's defense at times, but they will get their shots in. The Jet's on the other hand will be shown that they do not have enough weapons on offense to play with the big boys, and Mark Sanchez will continue to struggle.

*The Patriots also annouced the signing of 2nd year WR Demetrius Byrd to a one year 1 million dollar contract. Byrd is expected to be the teams 5th WR while Wes Welker is hurt.

Re: We're not done yet: A New England Patriots Franchise.

Moss Escapes Revis Island, Patriots Win

Revis Island is the Alcatraz of the NFL no more for Randy Moss has broken free. Thanks in large part to a very sucessfull New England running game, Randy Moss burned the Jets secondary for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns, both of which coming off of play action. Moss is the first player since Revis' rookie year to out perform the stud corner, and if you were to guess who would break Revis spell, it would of been Moss....and he did.

The Patriots looked very impressive in their win over the Jets, especially the defense who had to face a Mark Sanchezless New York offense. New England took advantage of 2nd string QB Erik Ainge, blitzing him early and often, sacking him 4 times (3 bye rookie Jermaine Cunningham) and also forcing him to throw two interceptions. Laurence Maroney had another great game rushing for 87 yards, and helped set the tempo for New England's second win of the season.

I think everything looks good. I like the key matchups. and your indepth training camp/preseason posistion winners.. I am not sure I would call Ben Watson a bust. Granted he didn't come in and put up Coates type numbers at TE, but I don't put all the blame on him, we was never really a fulltime starter. With D. Graham around as well, plus with Moss and Welker and previously T. Brown. Brady seems to fav his WR's when he needs a safety valve. Or Kevin Faulk.

Looks good! some of your scores don't add up though...you had Brady throwing 2 TDs and Maroney and Taylor rushing for a TD each but it says you scored 24 points...unless you didn't kick any extra points

Ben Watson wasn't a bust per say but he did not live up to his first round value. If the Patriots didn't have the WR's they had the last couple of years Ben Watson would of looked even worse imo. And thanks for the compliments any advice or requests on things I should add?
