That's it for CAPs, any CAPs posted after this post will not be added.

Tomorrow I'll make the final few CAPs and then post overviews of each team.

NFC West Preview

As of today, the Artificial Football League (AFL) has been created. We shall start off by giving a preseason 2009 preview going division by division, team by team, listing top players, and possible future stars.

We'll start with the NFC West

Seattle Brigade
Seattle's AFL team is poor at best. QB Johnny Redd leads a lackluster offense with few speedy weapons. Look for possible trades out of this team as they may try to secure some quicker weapons. Their offensive line is solid, and has a bright future ahead of them. Starting LT Dakota Humphrey is signed on for 4 years in Seattle and looks to be a future star LT. LGs Carlos Hunt, Sean Hawkins, and Cyrus Swayne all look to battle it out for the starting job. RGs Dustin Madison, Lake Stills, and Michael Savage also look to battle it out for the starting job. Although third on the depth chart this year, Seattle's coaches have a good feeling about Savage. Both the C and RT position can be improved on in the future, and likely will be as talent is needed at those positions. The defensive line looks weak for this season, but there is a ton of talent at DE. J.R. Aldridge and Shaun Nicks are guarenteed starters at LE and RE respectively. The DT position will need help within the next few years as there is little talent shown. Seattle's linebackers are not only slow, but also fairly talentless, the sole exception being Byron Zimmerman (who has no speed, but has a bright outlook) and Andrew Compton (who is the quickest LB of the corps, but has no other showable talent whatsoever). Seattle's secondary is also weak with little talent, except at the SS position, where Rashad Hubbard looks like he could be a decent safety a few years down the line.

Air Academy Falcons
Based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado; the Falcons look to have a spectacular offense. QB Darrell Green is one of the best in the league, and he's backed up by arguably the best backup in the league in Ernie Mickens. TE Allen Rogers is quick with great hands, and looks to be Green's go-to-guy in the red zone. WRs Tayshaun Strong and Paul Kerry are both extremely quick speed recievers and will provide Green with a pair of deep threats. HB Raymond Rainey is an elusive back with excellent catching skills and decent ball carrier skills. The O-line is pass blocking force to be reckoned with, however run blocking may suffer at times. The defense will have to rely on coverage as the D-line is rather poor. Despite having lots of talent on defense, most of it is in the form of current backups rather than in the starters themselves.

Los Angeles Spartans
The Spartans have a very balanced team. The offense is very balanced as far as talent goes, and the team has some good weapons for the future. With three very talented TEs in Gilbert Massey, Alex Adams, and Edgar Lawrence; the Spartans have a wicked trio to send play action to in the red zone. The D-line has a good combination of speed and power making the future bright for the Spartans. The linebackers are quick with some good talent mixed in as well. The Spartans' secondary is of no concern as Denard Cameron looks like he could be a ballhawk CB. SS Shaun Gillum is one of the fastest safeties in the NFC, and maybe even the entire league.

Santa Fe Syrens
Much like the Falcons, the Syrens look to do their offensive work through the air. QB Sedrick Webster is an elite player, and looks to lead the team to a West division championship. With strong recievers, they may not have to rely on their running game much, but with HB Donald Dunbar, they always have that option. Dunbar is a power back, with absolutely amazing hands. The O-Line looks solid, and while not as good pass blockers as the rival Falcons, they are much better run blockers. The D-line is anchored by two solid DEs in Floyd Dupree and Sean Wheaton. DT Elijah Carlton may not be the best DT at this exact moment in time, but he has shown considerable talent at times. The linebacking corp is slow, and talent is spread thin, so there will likely be little blitzing out of the Syrens 4-3 defense. The secondary is solid with a very bright future, especially in ballhawk FS Jason Telfort.

Up next in the Preseason Previews will be the NFC East! Stay tuned...

Preseason Preview Heads East! NFC East Preview

Welcome back to the Preseason Preview of the Artificial Football League! Up now is the powerful NFC East division, with strong defenses, and even a air it out passing attack, the East could very well be host of a tough divisional race.

New York Justice
New York looks like the spot of a tough QB battle within the league. QB Ian McLaughlin looks like the the coaches choice for starter, but Tarik Baldwin looks to claim that position for himself. With power back Zak Gore, the Justice don't seem to need to pass, however, WRs Craig Black and Ronyell Henry both show an ability to make plays. The O-Line is home to several position battle including for LT, LG, and possibly RT. LTs Tayshaun Baker and Kelsey Charles are competing for the starting LT role, however the loser might just get a chance to play RT if starter Frank Cash underpreforms. The defense however, is where the Justice excell. Cris Carpenter, Glen Larson, Kelcy Diamond, and Stan Ellis make a powerful front four, and with one of the most talented linebacking corps in the entire league, the front 7 look like a brick wall. CB Tyron Watson is beyond ballhawk as he catches almost everything thrown at him in practice. Safeties Don Osborne and Dave Kato are additional threats as both can catch and are extremely fast.

Philadelphia Phreedom
QB Daunte Reese leads a power passing game in Philly as the Phreedom looks to use a West Coast offense to slowly wear down the secondaries of their opponents. However, their passing attack may be the only thing to their advantage. HB Wayne Lemon has WR/TE recieving skills, but around average rushing skills. They'd rather not have to rely on backup Raymont Little to rush for them as Little is rather slow for the feature back role.
Philly is strong at OT, but their OGs and C are a tad weaker than they'd like. A season of playing time will likely improve them, but any inside blitz might need to be helped by a blocking FB or TE. The defense has little speed, even at CB, and little talent. The only bright spot is MLB Sheldon Downs, who is one of the fastest LBs in the league signed to a team. A bright spot though, the Phreedom seems to have the best punter in the league in Ray Ray Mason...

Virginia Beach Vandals
The Vandals are much like the Justice, just without a decent young QB. A 4-way battle for QB between Woody Wiley, Thurman Palmer, Pat White, and Rashad Beck could last all season, as none have shown the skills to be great. HB might be a problem as their starter and backup are average, while their 4th stringer has shown some instances of eliteness. Their WRs are much the same way, with the starters being average, but the backups being possible future stars. Luckily, the Vandals' O-line is talented and could have a future as a terrific blocking unit. Defensively, they are all about rushing the passer. RE Kraig Broussard is not only one of the fastest DEs in the league, he's one of the strongest 4-3 DEs. DT Ray Ray Jeffries has the ability to play any D-line position he wants to, and in the 4-3 along side Broussard, could be a danger for any QB in the league. OLBs P.J. Weaver and Eric Spriggs could be elite pass rushing 3-4 OLBs, but prepare to bring their speed to cover the middle of the field. CB Donald Robbins is among the top press CBs in the league, although he has hands of stone. Expect him to break up many passes, but also rack up pass interference flags quickly.

Washington Generals
Yet another defensive based team in the East, QB Deion Hewitt looks like he could develop into a quality signal caller. HB Albert Shead is a bulldozer of a back, but could have injury problems down the road. Slot reciever Kory Favors catches many passes in practice, but has a tendency to miss routes and can't jump as high or far as the other WRs. The O-Line is solid, however holes will likely open up within the next couple years. LE Jameel Drake is a pure pass rusher, but has missed tackles on the HBs in practice. ROLB is more suited at DE in a 4-3, so the Generals are taking a risk in him at OLB in this system. If they were running a 3-4, then he'd be less of a risk, but LE Drake would need to move up to LOLB, which would be a risk. If CB Rocky Schwartz could catch, his zone coverage skills would be even deadlier, while Clyde Hunt shows impressive press coverage.

Up next, AFL Preseason Preview heads south to explore the NFC South's offensive teams.

Re: The Artificial Football League Forms! (Madden 10 CAT Chise)

After viewing the NFC West and East teams, we are set to head south into redneck country to view the NFC South. Naturally, these teams seem heavily dependent on traditional smashmouth football rather than the defenses and passing attacks of the East and West.

Georgia Silverbacks
When you think gorilla, you think power, and that's exactly what you think of when you think of the Georgia Silverbacks. HBs Seth Wilder, J.R. Claybrooks, and Ronnie Jammer are large and powerful runners. And behind the strength of their offensive line, the Silverbacks look to power run all over the opposition. Our first mention of a FB comes in power blocker Jed Grant. This dude flattens out defenders, clearing holes for Wilder to burst through. He may not be fast, or have any sort of catching/carrying skills, but Grant will open up holes in the defense. The Silverbacks 3-4 is all about controlling the line with their nasty DEs and NT. RE Jamal Perry played DT in college, and plans on using his speed and power at the RE position to keep opposing teams from picking up LB blitzes. Georgia's LBs are undersized, but are quick enough to not only blitz, but chase down average TEs. CB Julius Lewis has zone coverage down to an art, but will remain backup to Raymont Palmer. Both safeties are hard hitting run supporters; don't be suprised if they blitz them occasionally.

New Orleans VooDoo
This reporters favorite team name and color scheme, the Voodoo have a dangerous offense. Combine an accurate passer of Peter Lucas, a versatile rusher of Rusty Rasby, and the recieving talents of Benjamin Cherry, Tamarick Preston, and Cedric Benton, and this offense will go. A solid O-line guards the offense and looks to stay with the VooDoo for a long time. Defensively, they'll struggle. Their front 7 are average at best, and will struggle against the power rushing of their rivals. Not only that, but they aren't fast enough at LB to run a 3-4 this season, so they are stuck in a 4-3. Kicker Steve Starks might just be the top fantasy pick among kickers due to his accuracy, and with a team that cannot be stopped offensively, nor stop others defensively, Starks stock value soars through the roof.

Daytona Beach Challengers
No possible Franchise QB here, however feature back Rod Goosen prepares to steal the show. Fast, strong, and elusive, Goosen might just be one of the most well rounded backs in the AFL. Backup Tito Mitchell is just as talented, however has dealt with fumbling issues in the past. TEs Trent Brewster and Heath Forbes are premier blocking TEs, but will never last as recieving TEs, so the Challengers will need to look to run in the red zone. A fancy footwork O-line will be an interesting blocking system to watch. As an interesting choice, Challengers DC has chosen to run a 4-3 with DTs Dean Foley, Tee Legion, Tyron Joyce, and Terrell Jones making up the D-Line. If successful, they may just be the top run stoppers in the league. The LBs are quick in Daytona, and they prepare on holding the flats to prevent outside runs and screen passes by their rivals.

Orlando Sharks
Bitter rivals to the Challengers, the Sharks prepare to run an unusual rushing attack on their rivals. QB Vonnie Patterson gives some flexability at QB in either rushing or passing situations. HB Casper Marshall is flexible and can not only juke people out of their shoes, but also shove them into the ground. Expect to see many QB/HB/WR option routes out of Patterson, Marshall, and WR Boar White. The left side of the Sharks O-line is evil, with powerful blockers anchoring the running game. The right side might struggle a bit though as they are talented, but will take a year or two to develop. Defensively, they plan on running a multiple D look throughout the year. With a powerful D-Line, and pretty talented LBs, they could be a difficult matchup for the other running based teams out of the South.

We shall be back for the final divisional preview of the NFC, the North!
