Defensive Captain MLB Jerod Mayo out 2 weeks

Tampa, FL - Well it may only be a dislocated ankle, but it looked worse from the footage of the play. Jerod was trying to take on the ball carrier when he shifted to his right and rolled right over the ankle. We expect a full recovery in 2 weeks but we will have to watch this ankle all season. Hopefully he'll be 100% when he does return though.

2nd String SS Josh Barrett out

Tampa, FL - If losing Jerod Mayo wasn't enough, we also lost a great safety in Josh Barrett. He injured the same collarbone as Kerry Meier but this is worse. Josh is out another 8 weeks. We won't see him til half the season is over. We all wish a speedy recovery and the best for him.

2010 Position Battle Winners

Starting Running Back
#39 Laurence Maroney

Laurence showed consistancy in the running game and proved that he can run the ball up the middle and provide positive yards. Darren McFadden will be the 3rd down and special situations back. The Bucs will probably also use McFadden in Red Zone more often for not only his speed but his ball catching skills

Kick and Punt Returners
#11 Roscoe Parrish is KR
#27 Will Blackmon is PR

Both have proven that they can run the ball Roscoe has the quickness to find the gaps in the Kick Return game and Will has showed us that he can get it done on the punt returns with a great return average and a TD in the preseason. Each will be each others backup.

Welcome to the 2010 NFL Season opener between the Cleveland Browns and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After a grueling 4 week pre-season these two teams are ready to hit the turf with the best players they have chosen. Looking the Matchups it looks like the Buccaneers have a clear advantage in the passing game while the running game clearly goes to the Browns. The Browns will be without the likes of Defensive Tackle Tank Johnson while the Buccaneers will have a major hole in the middle of the field with MLB Jerod Mayo sidelined. A.J will have to step up and help stop the run for the Buccaneers to remain competetive in this game. Cleveland will need to keep up with Tampa Bay's speedy receivers if they want to come out on top.

Rookie Bradford couldn't steal the booty

Tampa, FL - The city of Tampa Bay and their Buccaneers showed Sam Bradford what the NFL is like. The defense pressured him and left with under 200 yards passing with 2 interceptions. The rookie QB couldn't be more disappointment with his NFL debut. Asomugha stuffed top wide receiver Dwayne Bowe to only one catch and Matthews and Hawk stifled the ever speedy Maurice Jones-drew to less than 100 yards on the day. The Tampa Bay defense covered the field well and it showed on the scoreboard.

Tampa Bay offense on the other hand couldn't really get off the ground. Maroney and McFadden combined for less than 80 yards and Miles Austin was restricted to only 4 grabs today. The star of the day other than the Buccaneer defense was Austin Collie. He was able to find holes in the defensive backfield and pulled down 5 catches and one that went for six points. We are still awaiting the return of Mayo and Meier, specially Meier. Robert Parrish, while great at returning kicks, drop a few important second and third down passes. With Meier out Parrish moved up to 4th receiver behind Josh Morgan and definitely couldn't fill the rookie's shoes.
