Tough 0-2 start, hopefully you can turn this season around once you get into Conference games.

That's amazing that Utah, TCU, Fresno State and BSU all won their Week 1 games just like in real life.
Yeah, week 2 held pretty much to real life too with the exception of Florida State beating Oklahoma. Another interesting result was South Florida taking down the Gators. Just noticed an error in the polls for week 3. Texas' previous ranking should have been 4 not 3.

Yeah, I hope so but it is going to be tougher than I thought. Starting the season with back to back to back road games against ranked opponents is brutal. Then, after the game against the FCS team, I have a couple of the toughest conference opponents right off the bat with Nevada, Boise State and Fresno State. Realistically, I hope to get through that with wins over the FCS team (obviously) and hopefully pull out a win against either Nevada or Fresno State. So I guess I'm aiming for a 2-5 start to the season and a 3-4 start will feel like a real accomplishment. I'm just not sure if a bowl game is in my future this season...

Breaking News: Injury Report
Source: Daily Spartan

The Daily Spartan is reporting that starting quarterback Jordan La Secla injured his shoulder late in the game against Wisconsin. The injury was worse than the Spartan training staff initially believed. Doctors have diagnosed the senior quarterback with a strained shoulder and expect him to miss the next 3-4 weeks. This is a big blow to Coach West and the Spartans who face a tough test on the road this week against the Utah Utes. Backup QB Matt Faulkner will be forced to step in and take the reigns in a hostile environment. Faulkner is listed as a Junior after transferring to San Jose State from Mount San Antonio College. We asked Coach West about the injury.

Daily Spartan: "Coach, what does losing Jordan La Secla mean to your football team?"

Coach West: "It is obviously a big blow. Jordan is a senior and a leader on our offense. He also showed tremendous improvement between week 1 and week 3 so we were eager to get him out there again. That said, Faulkner has been practicing hard and we are confident that he will be able to execute our offense."

Good luck with the Spartans, that is one heck of a challenge taking them over, especially with that non-conference schedule. I wonder if in real life their football team will make money by taking those three road games against teams that traditionally sell out their stadiums.

Game Notes:
This one was over from the very beginning. The Spartans won the ball and chose to receive. On the first possession of the game the San Jose State QB Matt Faulkner threw a pick giving Utah control at the San Jose State 42 yard line. Utah took advantage of the opportunity and went up by a TD. Faulkner continued to struggle the entire game. His throws were erratic and it was more surprising when he did find a target.

Coach's Comments: I don't think we can take anything from this loss. There was so much that went wrong that I can not think of one positive thing that we can take from this. I know we were playing a tough team but that kind of performance is inexcusable.

Game Notes: The Spartans looked like they would come out and take control of the game, which they did for the first three quarters. However, they showed that they have no killer instinct. They had no idea how to win and they let a team from the FCS nearly come back in the fourth quarter. It didn't help that once again Matt Faulkner could not find any receivers even when they were wide open.

Coach's Comments: I am once again disappointed by our play. In particular, we need the play from our quarterback position to improve. Faulkner is a more capable player than he's shown so far this season. We really need him to step up his play.
