Game Outlook: As the Eagles travel home after a close lost to the #4 VT Hokies, the Thundering Herd of Marshall are looking to make the Eagles loss total 3 in a row. The Herd only 1-2 itself are coming off a 36-0 loss to UCF at home.


Rohm's Outlook: We are excited to be back home in Washington after the past few weeks. This is a very good Herd team today, but they aren't as good as the last two opponents. If we play poised and under control I think we can pull in another Win.

It's a rainy day at RFK Stadium...Eagles will receive to open the game.

After a 13 yd run, AU lost Starting RB James Powell for 12 weeks with a dislocated elbow. A blow to an already weak AU running game. Will Gateway native T.J. Gray be able top pick up the slack?

End of 1: Marsh 0, AU 0

A slow first qt. both teams offenses staling and great punts into each others 20's.

A few injury updates. Along with AU starting HB Powell out, They now will be without their starting FB Jordan Bleek also for two qts with a strained pectorial.

Halftime: Marsh 6, AU 10
The first play of the 2nd qt was a fumble by American setting up Marshall with great field Position. Marshall was held and on 4 and inches, went for it and scored on a run play up the middle. But Marshall misses the EXP. Next possession the Eagles were driving but QB Paul King throws an interception. After a punt by the Herd. The Eagles Drive down and 16 yards out John Goodman makes a amazing 1 handed grab in the back of the endzone to put the eagles up!
Following possession with only 13 seconds left, a fumble is recovered by American.
2 Passing plays later, AU settles for the field goal before half to go up by 4.

End of 3: Marshall 19, AU 10

A disappointing third qt as AU could not get the ball moving. The opposite can be said for the heard who scored twice this qt.
1st on a 3 yd run by RB M. Ward and again on a wide open 19 yard pass from E. Sullivan to J. Power, but once again the EXP was missed.

End: Marshall 34, AU 17

A terrible 4th qt for The eagles today. Letting up a TD pass late, and the only down by a few throws an interception for a TD. The Eagles came out the final 1:50 and just ran the ball, running the clock out. Another disappointing loss.

Rohm's post game: Marshall wanted it more. Their hurry up no huddle had defenders out of place on a few key third downs and we just had too many dropped balls by wide open receivers. Once again it came down to fundamentals and we couldn't hang on.

Ouch man after being so close to defeating Virginia Tech you lose by 17 to Marshall, tough 1-3 start but I'm sure you can turn the season around and get maybe 4-5 Wins like somebody said before.
