Washington D.C.- The Washington Post received word today that in two years (2012), American University will field it's first ever football team. The Eagles have been raising money for several years now, and it seems to be time to put that money to use. The sign of this story being accurate is the University signing a deal to use RFK Memorial stadium for "athletic events" and because all other teams competing for the university having a home already, football seemed like the only realistic reason for this move.

Washington D.C.- It's official, American University will have football! The naming of Josh Rohm, a Pittsburgh, Pa native as head coach stopped all suspicion to the rumors of football in Washington. Rohm will be in charged of two years of recruiting to field a FBS football team by 2012.
" It is a pleasure to become the head coach of the team based in our nations capital. My staff and I will work hard the next two season to field a competitive team for the university." said Rohm.

Rohm, being a native of Pittsburgh will bring the steel city's hard-nosed football mentality with him.

"We aren't going to be wimps and spread the field with a lot of speed and trick plays, that is the cowards way around football. I don't care about stats, having a QB throw for 500 yards a game with 5 Touchdowns is not football, maybe back yard football, but not college. We are going to hand the ball off, control the ball, and beat the S*** out of the team on the other side of us until they can't move them next day."- Rohm

The first year of recruiting has been finished. The 2010 recruiting class will come in and will all be given a red-shirt.

"I am really excited about this class, we have two 3 star running backs coming from my former high school region, the WPIAL, a WR who transfered from Notre Dame, and a few skilled players..I can't wait."-Rohm

Looks like American will be going Nike. Today the university sported it's Red, White, and Blue colors that will be worn on gameday.

A blue jersey will be it's primary home jersey, with a red alt.
White will be the primary away with a Nike Pro combat with silver sleeves as a nike promotion.

The pants will alternate between Blue and White.

The primary Helmet will be White with the schools "AU" logo on both sides and a red, blue stripe and a white face mask. The pro combat helmet will be silver with a red blue stripe, red face mask and the logo only on the left side, as the logo will only apear on the left sleeve of the jersey as well.

Coach Rohm speaks about the upcoming season, and the 2012 Schedule is out!

Coach Rohm- We had two good years of recruiting and I think it showed this spring. We are very very very young, with all but 11 players being freshman. It will be a difficult season for sure. If this was a video game, our highest overall player would be the punter at 76 ovr. and hes a sr., Hell our starting qb is only 61 ovr and starting two rb's are 67 and 66 respectfully. That should tell you what the rest of the line-up would look like. We have a few tough games this season, and I would be happy with a 4-8 season. The kids have worked extremely hard and it's time to finally go hit someone else.

Game Outlook: American University starts it's football program today at RFK Stadium. The visiting FCS team could possibly cause problems for the young Eagles.

Coach Rohm's Outlook: We have a chance to start off with a win. Just because it is a FCS team means nothing, we basically have the roster of a low tier FCS team. If we can run the ball, we will win.

Coach Rohm after the game: We played extremely well in this game, we held onto the ball, the running backs were hitting the holes and everything was in sync. I am very proud of these boys. Starting off with a win hopefully will place some confidence into the players heading into the season. We will take tomorrow off, then start preparing for a harder West Virginia team on Monday.
