Re: The Birds! Arizona Cardinals Franchise [Coach Mode]

WEEK 5: Arizona Cardinals (2-1) at Baltimore Ravens (1-3)

This one can be describe a few different ways. For one, there was no real offense this entire game. The Ravens defense was possible even better than the 49ers. Max Hall went 13-29 for 210 yards, he was being hit almost every time he stepped back to throw, and when he wasn't being hit he was holding on to the ball way to long. Beanie Wells was stuffed, 28 attempts for 47, yes 47 yards. Beanie came out of gates running well season but is really falling off now, he is average a measly 2.8 YPC at this point. The O-Line played terrible once again and could be the causes of all the other problems.

On the upside our Defense played well and the ball hawk Rodgers-Cromartie intercepted Flacco 3 times, one which was a pick 6. They played well, however they were over exposed and tired, the Ravens took advantage and took deep shots and kept ramming Ray Rice into us.

WR Julian Watson played great, he exploded away from corner backs and took short gains to long gains. Therefore he will replace Steve Breaston.

Because of this I decided to shop around Breaston for an upgrade in my O-Line, and we found a great offer:

Steve Breaston (WR 83 Ovr) for Nick Hardwick (C 83 Ovr)

This should be a great upgrade for the offense, Hardwick is an experienced center, and is exceptional at pass and run blocking.

Week 6: Arizona Cardinals (2-2) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2)

It's almost as if the RB core of the team was reading the press clippings. The came out hot and running hard. Beanie Wells 24 ATT 168 YDS 2 TD, a 7.0 YPC for the game, Larod Stephens-Howling 10 ATT 53 YDS 5.3 YPC, and the rookie Justin Graves 7 ATT 29 YDS 4.1 YPC. Extremely impressive, I normally shy away from running the ball but sometimes you have to feed the hot hand, and today it was all running backs.

On a somewhat related note the new addition to the offensive line fit in perfectly. Hardwick's experience was invaluable, he was able to call out the opponents blitzes and line shifts. I must say this really took a lot of pressure of Max Hall, who managed the game perfectly.

The defense came out and played physical football, they overpower the Buc's O-Line and blanketed their recievers. They allowed only 97 YDS passing and 62 YDS rushing.

My hopes are high with Hardwick, but I still fear that Hall will never be the Air it Out kind of passer I like.

Re: The Birds! Arizona Cardinals Franchise [Coach Mode]

WEEK 7: Arizona Cardinals (3-2) at Seattle Seahawks (2-4)

This game was dominance personified. The defense for the second week in a row allowed less then 200 yards of offense. Leaders like Adrian Wilson and Gerald Hayes really came through and shut the run game down, and KErry Rhodes and Rodgers-Cromartie controlled the passing game. Rodgers-Cromartie came away with another interception totaling 5 thus far.

Even more surprising was how well the offense gelled. The ground game was running great:
  • Beanie Wells: 24 ATT, 104 YDS, 2 TD
  • Larod Stephens-Howlings: 7 ATT. 63 YDS, 1 TD
The passing game felt like great, the pocket this new O-Line generates holds up really well. While there are still some holes, my QB isn't getting hit every time he steps back now.
  • Max Hall: 24-32, 222 YDS, 2 TD
  • Dakota Mayer: 7-7, 95 YDS, 3 TD
  • Larry Fitzgerald: 8 REC 53 YDS 3 TD
  • Early Doucet: 9 REC 91 YDS
Dakota Mayer was subbed in in the 4th quarter, I think everyone wanted to see what this first rounder could do with no pressure on him. He really stepped up, he took the offense by the horns and drove them for another 28 points in under 8 minutes. Controversey maybe a brew but Hall will still be the starter for the season.

Ya I just played the seahawks in my last preseason game. They arent a very good team if it wasnt for me being a expansion team it would have been very easy to shut them down.

Yeah you really do, it evened out a lot of things with this team. If they take away the running aspect ( As the Ravens and 49ers did ) then Max Hall doesn't really have it in him to make them pay through the air.

Re: The Birds! Arizona Cardinals Franchise [Coach Mode]

Also a little follow up on to how well the defense has been playing this year:

  • 5th Overall Defense in the league
  • 4th Overall in Pass Defense
  • 16th Overall in Run Defense
  • 3rd Overall in Points Allowed
  • 1st Overall in Turn Over Differential with 15 takeaways (5 INT, 10 FUM)
This group is playing really good and with a few tweaks we could dominate for a long time.

Max Hall has yet to throw an interception this year, he is sitting pretty at 90+ QB Ratining and over 1200+ YDS passing thus far. He is being considered heavily for a pro bowl as well.

Larry Fitzgerald has yet to but up the yards that we are used to seeing from him but production in TDs (5) is still there. He is being considered for the pro bowl as well.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been playing shutdown with receivers all year long. A true gamer, he has 5 interceptions on the year and is also being looked at for the pro bowl.

WEEK 8: Arizona Cardinals (4-2) vs. St Louis Rams (0-6)

Wow, this game goes to show you that you never know what is going to happen in a rivalry game. They were playing to break bones in this game. My team just couldn't handle it, Sam Bradford was back and their offense was clicking. Steven Jackson lead the way with a monstrous game, he showed Beanie Wells what power running is all about.

This game wasn't so much about the Rams offense as it was about the our offense. When you look at the stats you can see we out performed the Rams in almost every category, except we kept turning the ball over at key points and giving our defense terrible field position. Max Hall threw 4 interceptions! 4! One for a pick 6. This was one of our few home games thus far this season and I know I heard some chants that went something like MAY-ER! MAY-ER! from my owners box.

Hall did led a valiant effort during the 4th quarter for a comeback, but fell short. His deep ball inaccuracy and arm strength really came to light here. The coaching staff will be meeting this week to discuss his future, I've been assured by Whisenhunt that Hall should remain the starter. Redskins are up next week at a (2-5) record, lets hope we show something better this game.

Injuries:

Larod Stephens-Howlings: Dislocated Elbow 1 Week
Josh Edwards: Herniated Disk 8 Weeks (This on really hurts as he is great rookie FB)
Will Davis (LOLB): Herniated Disk 2 Weeks
Daryl Washington (MLB): Torn Hamstring 3 Weeks
