WEEK 4
(2-1) VS (1-2)
GAME PREVIEW
Orginally this game was slated to be a big deal in Denton, as the Mean Green were going to host a Top-25 team at Forbes Field. Instead Houston lost their starting QB and Heisman canidate SR Case Kennum and backup QB Cotton Turner. Now the Cougars are 1-2 and have FR QB Terrance Broadway running the show. However they do still have 3 returning 1000 yd recievers in James Cleveland, Tyron Carrier and Patrick Edwards.
UNT has been somewhat of a surprise upseting #3 Texas to open the season, they then challenge #6 TCU in Week 2 until the final minutes, but then escaped with a 45-42 win over Rice at home as week. The question on everyone's mind tonight was what Mean Green "D" will show up.
Key's to victory-Less then 2 INT's by R. Dodge. Establish a pass rush and keep Broadway under 300 yds. Continue to feed L. Dunbar the ball.
GAME RECAP
Houston would win the toss and elect to kick. After a 3 and out, T. Broadway would use his recievers to go 80 yds down field connecting on a 4yd pass to K. Bibbins to take the (7-0) lead. After that both teams would struggle to establish much offense as they traded punt for punt.
Finally with 2:46 to play in the half, L. Dunbar would get the Mean Green in the endzone with a 6 yd run. (7-7) Again the "D" would step up and force the punt getting the ball back with 1:52 to play. Riley Dodge would lead the Offense looking to make something happen. Instead Dodge would take a huge hit leaving him on the ground for several minutes. Finally trainers would escort him on the field, and SR N. Tune would come in. A dropped pass on 3rd down would force the punt, and the UNT Special teams would give up a 54 yd punt return my P. Edwards as Houston took the (14-7) lead into the half.
The Mean Green would take the field in the 2nd half without the SO QB leader. Dodge was done for the night as team doctors wanted to take a closer look at his injury. The Defense again would step up forcing a fumble getting the ball back into the hands of the Offense, and the "O" would deliver as L. Dunbar runs in his 2nd TD of the game (1 yd out) to tie it (14-14). After antother 3 and out, it was QB N. Tune throwing his first TD of the season hitting Jamal Jackson on a 28 yd TD (21-14)
The Mean Green "D" would continue to shutout the Cougars high potent offense in the 4th as T. Broadway finishes with just 9 complete passes and throws 2 INT's. The Offense would also deliever as Tune hits L. Dunbar on a 1 yd screen pass and T. Stradford for a 13 yd pass as the Mean Green get the blowout win at home.

POST GAME INTERVIEW
Coach Dodge "I know alot of you want to know what's going on with Riley. Right now the doctors are thinking it's a strained achilles, which would mean he would only miss the next 3-4 weeks, but we have dealt with past injuries to his arm as well, and he hasn't always healed quickly. In fact we almost moved him to WR because of the arm issues which are still lingering, which leads me to believe that is part of his INT issues. Right now we don't have a gameplan. We are going to have to look at removing the redshirt status from either SO D. Thompson or FR D. Teegarden. Because we currently don't have a #3 QB.
As far as the game goes, I was really pleased with N. Tune's performance. He has practiced well of late and he came in and made some big plays when we needed it. However tonight my hat goes off to the "D". They played amazing. To go from giving up 42 points to Rice to only giving up 14 to Houston is outstanding."
