WEEK 9 TEAM REPORT

(Because of the BYE in Week 9, I am instead posting my Usual Team Report)

RECRUITING UPDATE

Coach Dodge might have beaten the UCLA on the field, but the Bruins beat him off the field landing 2-4* RB's.

#10 HB 6'3 Chris Tompkins
#9 HB 6'0 203 lbs Michael Hill

Coach Dodge "Obviously I am disappointed we felt like both Tompkins and Hill had the potential to be a every down back in our offense. Right now we will focus our attention 4* (#26) HB John Witaker and 3* ATH (#29) Todd Jones."

The Bruins were not the only team to steal away 2 recruits. The Penn State Nitty Lions beat WSU in Week 1 and beat them again landing 2-4* WR's to QB Dave McLaughlins arsenal of weapons.

4* WR (#5) 6'1 Ray Austin-Longmont CO
4* WR (#17) 6'2 Clifford Bailey-Salmon Creek WA

Coach Dodge "Again we knew going after Austin would be a battle but to finish #2 just sucks. However it stings just a little bit more when you lose out on your own instate kids. We really felt like Bailey had the potential to the next great WR at WSU. Should Todd Jones sign with WSU he has the chance to lineup at WR next year as well as RB, however WSU is also currently #1 on 4* (#26) Quinn Woods who is 6'5 and 184 lbs.

COACH DODGE GETS HIS 2ND COMMITTMENT EARLY

4* Offensive Tackle Cody Coley signed in Week 1. Now finally in Week 9, Coach Dodge lands his 2nd committment of the 2015 season.

4* DE (#20) Pat Terry 6'5 247 lbs-Santa Anna CA

Coach Dodge- Terry will have a chance to replace Owens should he turn pro and continue our tradiation of having talent on the Defense line. Should Owens return, then Terry could move to DT and have a chance to upgrade the inteior of the line as well.

TIM McCOY FOR THE RECORD BOOKS.

McCoy currently is 6th in the Nation with 836 yds in 6 games. He also has a team high 56 receptions and has caught 7 TD's. If he stays on this pace (9.3 CPG) then he will break the Seaon Record for Receptions held by I. Barton-128 (2012)

WSU RANKED #15

For the 1st time that I can remember all 3 Polls (Coaches/Media/BCS) are all in agreement and have WSU (4-2) Ranked #15. It is the highest ranking by a Pac-10 team right now as OSU is now #18 after their loss to Stanford, USC is #22 after losing to WSU and Oregon is #20 after winning 4 straight since their Week 1 loss to Georgia and Week 2 loss to the Cougars.

WEEK 9 RECAP

NATIONAL DREAMS ARE OVER

#3

The Longhorns fell to 14-10 to Oklahoma State and with it their National Title Hopes died with it. TE AJ Hart had 6 rec for 64 yds in the loss.

#10
Texas wasn't the only Top-10 team to lose their 1st game this week. TCU fell to 7-1 after losing in instate rival Houston 45-35, making next weeks game against Texas for the Big 12 South Title.

THE LIONS ROAR

#7

Penn State defeats Notre Dame in the 4th Quarter winning 31-28. QB Dave McLaughlin finished 26/41 386 yds and 2 TD's. WR Jack McLaughlin had 8 rec for 187 yds and 2 TD, inlcuding the 7 yd winning catch.

NO DOUBT WHO IS #1

#1

The Gators improve to 7-0 Overall and 6-0 in the SEC with a 22-17 win over #18 Georgia. The Gators are guarenteed the SEC East with the win, but their hopes of a National Title still has #18 Oregon State and #19 Florida State in the way.

BOISE STATE REMAINS UNDEFEATED

#7

The Broncos improve to 8-0 with a 38-7 win over North Texas. QB M. Weber has now thrown for 1689 yds and 21 TD's with no INT in 8 games. If BSU can get by ASU (4-3) in Week 10 and Arizona (5-3) in Week 11, then the Broncos will not only win another MWC Title but have a strong case to play in the National Title as well.

GAME PREVIEW

The Bears traveled to Pullman coming off a disappointing 36-33 OT loss to #19 USC. Cal has struggled behind RS JR QB D. Brown (1464 yds 6 TD's and 15 INT) and will rely on RS SR RB R. Brown (136 carries 496 yds 8 TD's) to carry the load.

The Cougars are coming off a Week 9 Bye, and are looking to stay perfect inside Pac-10 Conference play, after their Week 8 demolishing of USC (38-14). RS FR QB K. Reed will start his 4th straight game after taking over RS SR J. Roland. Reed is a perfect 3-0 against Pac-10 opponents.

GAME NOTES

Injuries plagued both teams as Cal's RB R. Brown left the game in the 1st half, as did WSU's R. Mayfield. WR T. McCoy continues to abuse the opposing Defense making catches all over the field. QB J. Roland played the entire 4th Quarter and looked good after not seeing any real action since Week's 5 loss to Ohio State. However as good as the Offense played, it was the Defense that carried this team to victory. All 3 INT's were huge drive killers.

It should be noted that Cal isn't very happy right now as RB I. Jefferson's 1 yd score in the 4th Quarter with under a minute to play was on 4th and 1. Several

POST GAME COMMENTS BY COACH DODGE

"I was very impressed with how the Defense played today. M. Owens continues to make huge plays even if they don't show up in the stat columuns. All 3 INT's were forced by him leveling QB D. Brown as he released his throw. Again I am impressed with how our Running Back duo of Jefferson and Mayfield are playing and was even more impressed with the speed RS FR J. Means showed on his 2 carries, we might have to mix in a few more carries for him this year"

INJURY NOTES

(R. Mayfield left with a bruised shoulder, he will be back for next week's matchup with Oregon State. RS FR RB B. Stewart will still miss the next 3 weeks with Broken Ribs)

WEEK 10 RECAP

BIG TEN SHOWDOWN

#5 @ #6

#5 vs #6, Buckey vs Nitty Lion. QB Dave McLaughlin vs QB Jordan Ross. This game had all the titles. Both teams entered the game 6-1. Both teams already had 1 Big Ten loss. The winner still would have a chance at at Big Ten Title, a spot in the Rose Bowl and maybe a outside chance at a National Championship spot. The loser would get nothing

FINAL SCORE OSU-35 PSU-0

The Buckeyes "D" was to much to handle as they held QB D. McLauglin in check. D "Mac" would finish 16/25 for 105 yds on the day. A big reason was his brother Jack's failure to get open. Jack would finish with just 2 catches for 14 yds.

For OSU, QB Jordan Ross played amazing, completing 20/26 passes for 298 yds and 3 TD's. The Big man also ran in a score as well. Backup QB Adam West played in the 4th Q. completing 2/4 for 37 yds. MLB L. Kyle finished with 5 Tackles (2 Solo).

TOP-3 REMAINS UNCHANGED

#1

Nice win over Cal. Seems like Cal and UCLA isn't doing so great. Loving the tables. Makes it look different. Are you going to start using it permanently?
