Re: Cincinnati Bearcats (NCAA 11)

Tipping the Scale
4 recruits will now call Cincinnati home

The Miami (OH) game did wonders for the Bearcats in the recruiting field, and after sealing up their 6th win and becoming bowl eligible for another year, 4 recruits decided that Cincinnati is the place they want to be.

The group is led by Rival 250 members Willie Woodard (#196) and Lionel Francis (#198). Woodard, the 4* QB from Lake Catholic High School in Cleveland, put away his fears of playing behind Zach Collaros for a year, and felt this would be the right decision. Maybe Collaros' bad game had something to do with that, but expect Woodard to take a redshirt his first year to work on his mechanics.

Francis, the 4* DT from Finneytown, OH, is one of the stronger members of this class, reportedly with a bench press of 456. He could still use work with his footwork, but he should be a stud for the Bearcats.

4* ATH Michael Cole didn't even wait until the game on Friday. He called the coaches up on Tuesday and let them know his decision. "The coaches felt that with my athelticism, they could find a way to get me on the field." Cole said after annoucing his decision in front of his high school peers. Cole plays both WR and DB for Hallandale High in Florida, projects to CB on the next level, but his 4.34 speed could see him get some time in the return game (once DJ Woods leaves) and some time in the slot.

Lastly, there is Mike Harris, the #3 Kicker in the class. With Jake Rogers leaving after the year, Coach Jones wanted to make sure Mike would join the class. He doesn't have the strongest leg in the world, but he rarely misses, and with the way UC's offense moves, he won't have to kick it longer than 35 yds.

Those 4 committment move Cincinnati up from the #55 class in the nation to the #29 class. Most of the players that Cincinnati wanted as the foundation of the class are already on board, and with players that are redshirting, the 2011 class could be primed to keep Cincinnati at the top of the Big East.

Re: Cincinnati Bearcats (NCAA 11)

Seeing Red
Balanced attack leads #7 Bearcats over Bulls

Cincinnati, OH -- It looks like Cininnati has finally found the balance they were looking for.

Isaiah Pead ran for 112 yards, and Heisman hopeful Zach Collaros threw for 281 as Cincinnati rolls over USF 45-25.

The emergence of both Pead and Darrin Williams in the past two weeks has made fans forget that DJ Woods is still standing on the sideline nursing a PCL sprain. Pead began the game with a 73 yard TD run that saw him blow past everyone. With Pead coming around, and once DJ gets healthy, it's going to be hard to envision seeing anyone stop this offense.

The defense played a good game too. While just looking at the box score will tell a different story, they got key stops when they needed them. JK Schaffer's fumble return for a TD right before the half swung the game in their favor, and USF couldn't come back from it. After the game, LB Walter Stewart spoke on the defense's performance.

"We knew all along what we could do. We had a bad first month and put too much pressure on the offense to perform. Once we got to the bye week, it gave us time to fine tune what we needed to, and now you can see it in the way we play."

Cincinnati now gets ready to play Syracuse for their Homecoming game, and the question is if DJ Woods will be back to play, or will they hold him out til after the bye week that comes after the game and let him get fully healed.

Yep, and it usually ends up with me jumping up and down when he breaks his one long run every game lol.

I am really not looking forward to the WV game lol. I just have a bad feeling about it.

Re: Cincinnati Bearcats (NCAA 11)

Baldwin Hills
3 star LB chooses Cincinnati.
Cincinnati, OH -- After another impressive showing by the Bearcats against USF on Friday, another recruit was ready to call Cincinnati his future home.

3* OLB Patrick Baldwin (#23 OLB in the nation) from Millsboro High School in Millsboro, DE committed to play for the Bearcats on Monday. Baldwin mentioned how they have come out and still competed for a championship without Brian Kelly and the seniors a year ago is what made him choose them. "How they have adjusted to a new defensive system and improved from last year proved to me that the new coaches can coach and they can compete with the best of them." Baldwin said in a phone interview with us.

At 6'1" 219, Baldwin isn't the biggest linebacker out there. But his ability to play sideline to sideline and coverage skills make up for the size he doesn't have. He should be able to take a redshirt his first year, and then grow into the position.

This week with Syracuse coming into town, UC is bringing in 4* T Ryan Holt and 2* C Jim Brown. I've talked to both and they are excited to see a game in person and see what Cincinnati has to offer.

(OOC Note: Sorry about the LONG delay. Got busy with school stuff so I had to take care of that. Now with the semsester winding down, and UC's season being over (for accurate uniform purposes), I will be back to updating regularly.)
