Players of the Game

Offense:
S. Draughn. 25 rushing att, 162 yards, 2 TDs.
While his team lost, and he was held to under forty yards rushing in the second half. He still shined throughout the day and deserves the honor of player of the game.
Defense:
J. Jenkins. 8 tackles, 3 Solo, 3 TFL, 2.0 Sacks.
He led the defense in the second half. The senior was not going to lose today, he like the rest of the seniors desperately wants to win the ACC, in his last year.
Clemson, SC
The luck of the Clemson Tigers haven't run out yet. Once again they fell behind early, and this time far behind. UNC came out firing putting out two great early drives, while Clemson's "O" struggled.

Clemson would eventually put some points on the board, before their luck would kick in. After two fumbles on kickoff returns, Clemson would go into halftime down by only 3. Which at the beginning of the game seemed highly unlikely.

The second half was what anyone who has followed Clemson all year would expect. The offense came out firing, while the "D" played shutout style.

Clemson would win by two scores, but in all honesty it didn't look pretty. Parker who missed last week nearly threw for 300 yards and 2 TDs, with one interception. The running game suffered this week. The Tigers must get their ground game back, if they want to win the ACC. Next week they face Maryland, 2-3, at home. Which should be a good game for them to get their stride back.

Re: The Most Exciting 25 Seconds in Football - Clemson Dynasty [NCAA 11]

Week 6

Post Game Press Conference

Dabo Swinney
"Well what can I say luck wins ballgames. To me it doesn't matter how we win as long as we keep doing it. I can't be to hard on my guys, they make the plays win it matters"
Reporter
"How are your guys doing though? They seem to be getting beat up pretty badly. Any guys hurt? And how are they doing emotionally?"
Dabo Swinney
"Well they are doing good for the most part. We have some guys that are banged up. Andre [Ellington] is pretty bruised up. He had to miss the last two quarters of the UNC game. Luckily our defense held up and we didn't need him. We were down to our 3rd string back, since Jamie [Harper] couldn't play."

"Emotionally we are doing good I think, maybe a little tired. I mean when your past three games have been comeback wins your guys get a little weary, start worrying a little too much."

"We will more than likely go no pads this week. Just to give the guys a little rest. I think that's our problem we're worn out. Hopefully with the rest the guys will come out Saturday firing on all cylinders."

Reporter
"Can you give us any idea as to why Jamie Harper was benched?"
Dabo Swinney
"I shouldn't but I will, for only one reason. Jamie is a good kid and I don't want the media thinking he did something wrong. All it was was that he missed a team meeting. He apologized sincerely and understood that I had to bench him. He understood that I had to show authority to keep the teams head in the right place."
"He will be back next week. No doubt on that."

Week 7

Team News

Recruiting:
The Clemson Tigers pick up one more recruit this week. Although, they have lost the top spot in a couple of recruits minds. Hopefully they can gain it back as it was positions that were desperately needed.

Clemson Tigers Recruiting - 2010
NAMEPOSCLASSHOMETOWNHTWTCALIBER
Mike DingleDEHSTamarac, FL6'1"240
Derek GrahamMLBHSWest El-Cobb, AL6'3"233

Dingle looks to be a solid recruit. Although it is expected for him to be red-shirted his Freshman year. He is solid in most categories, although awareness is down and speed is missing for the most part. He is expected to be more of a run stopper.

The Tigers have seven recruits visiting this week. Clemson hopes to show out, and hopefully nab at least one or two commitments this week.

  1. QB B.J. Love 4* (Top Choice)
  2. QB R. Bonds 4* (Second Choice)
  3. QB C. Butler 3* (Soft-Syracuse)
  4. HB M. Alexander 4* (Top Choice)
  5. TE M. Anderson 3* (Top Choice)
  6. G N. Cotton 3* (Top Choice)
  7. SS J. Hayes 4* (Second Choice)
Rankings:
Although barely winning, and not getting any style points. The Clemson Tigers move up to #17 this week. They hope to move into the top 15 with a win over Maryland this week.
Conference:
The Tigers still have a one game lead over NC State in their division. This shouldn't change within' the next week. Both Clemson and NC State should pick up a win this Saturday.

Georgia Tech remains undefeated in the Coastal division, and has a one game lead over Virginia Tech. It looks as if this division will come down to the game between Georgia Tech and Virgina Tech.

Injuries:
Andre Ellington HB - Questionable - Ellington is questionalbe after suffering a deep bone bruise in the win over UNC in the fourth quarter. Expect to see him play Saturday.

Weekly Preview

Maryland Terps 2-3 (0-1) @ #17 Clemson Tigers 5-0 (2-0)

Maryland
  • Overall - B-
  • Offense - B-
  • Defense - B-
Clemson
  • Overall - B+
  • Offense - B+
  • Defense - B+
The Maryland Terps will come in Death Valley Saturday looking for their first ACC win of the season. Although, they may need to keep looking.

Yes, Clemson has barely, luckily won most of it's games. But the thing is those teams are much better than Maryland. Maryland is a young team, don't expect much out of them this year. But in the upcoming years, you may need to fear the turtle.

Expect Clemson to get it's ground game going this week. The Tigers will roll and roll big. Maryland will try to put up a fight but their offense will come up short against the better defense of the Tigers. Plus the game is at home, and Clemson doesn't lose much at home.

Game Details
Venue: Death Valley
Time: 12:00 P.M. EST
Date: October 9, 2010
Line: Clemson by 13

Lee Corso - Clemson
"Tigers come out strong. They're at home where they don't lose. They got luck on their side Kirkie, chalk another "W" up for the hometown team."
Kirk Herbstreit - Maryland
"The fans are going to hate me for this. But.... Terps win. Clemson has struggled latley, winning on big turnovers. Terps don't do that often. Look for Clemson to come up just short... Sorry Tigers, luck doesn't last forever."

Keys to the Game
Clemson
  • Ground Game.
  • Defense.
  • Play like you want it.
Maryland
  • Stuff the line.
  • Play smart.
  • Get Points.

DaQuan Bowers celebrates after getting a safety at the end of the game.

Players of the Game
Offense:
T. Smith. 6 Rec, 93 Yards, TD
Although his team lost Smith shined throughout the game. When a catch was needed he was there. The Tigers shut him down in the end to win the game. It will just leave him thinking if only.
Defense:
Da'Quan Bowers. 8 Tkls, 8 Solo, 6TFL, 5.0 Sacks, 1 FF, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 Safety.
Da'Quan Bowers hasn't been standing out so much latley. After a big first two games, his name hasn't been called out much. But today he rose back to the top. Not only did he get five sacks in the game, it was his second, yes second, five sack game of the year.
Clemson, SC.
Once again you can call the Clemson Tigers the comeback kids. Down at halftime 20-12, and after being dominated on both sides of the ball many thought the luck was gone.

Clemson was held to only field goals in the first half, hitting four of them. Once they got close to the endzone their offense would shutdown. Every touchdown of the day was out of the redzone.

Big plays, and turnovers. The motto of the Tigers, and today they lived by it. If not for a returned interception this game would have played out differently, and instead of talking about the Tigers, the Terps would be in the headlines.

Clemson now will have to get ready for Georgia Tech, who is currently #7 in the nation. Get ready kids, because Saturday, Death Valley will be rockin'.

Week 7

Post Game Press Conference

Dabo Swinney
"We came up big today. I'm not going to lie, I thought he lost it there for a minute. But once again, the defense comes up big when needed."

"Not only that but the offense, which was struggling. Came up big. We couldn't score but we kept putting up points. Thats all you can ask for."

Reporter
"Coach congrats. The team may not be the best, but it looks as if they work together and pick up where they need to."

"Recruiting, any word on today?"

"And how about next week, huge came coming up."

Dabo Swinney
"Yep, the team is coming together. All you can ask for."

"Well, all the recruits we had come up here so far today have told me they are grading us at least as a A-. No commits sadly, but good grades."

"Yes, I just received word Georgia Tech won today. That means there is a chance for us to play a top 10, maybe top 5 opponent next week at home. If we can win this game, the nation will finally give give Clemson some respect. Hopefully our luck won't run out."
