Re: A NEW NFL --- REPLACEMENT TEAMS

BULLDOGS FALL IN PRESEASON FINALE
In the worst performance of the exhibition season, the Bulldogs fell at the hands of the Arizona Rattlesnakes 22-30 to close out the exhbition season. ANthony Conway (who was taken out after one quarter) threw his first interception as a pro. The defense had its worst showing unable to contain the run game of a balanced Arizona team. Down 14-30 late in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs hit a TD and 2-point conversion to pull within 8. However a big run after the Bulldogs called their final timeout sealed their fate and kept them from going perfect this preseaon.

*sorry guys I went to post the box score but it only will come up with the end of preseason menu

Re: A NEW NFL --- REPLACEMENT TEAMS

HEAD COACH JOE THOMPSON POST GAME
On Conway's struggles
Well like I said ANthony is a rookie and growing pains are to be expected. I don't think he performed poorly tonight, but he wasn't at the superstar level he performed the first couple of games. He will continue to grow and become a better QB, but I think his performing so well in our early preseason games set uber high expectations.

Concerned about the Defense
Our defensive staff did a terrific job in our preseaon matches. Tonight may have skewed those numbers a bit but we were constintley creating pressure, getting to the opposing quartback, and creating turnovers which put our offense in position to put points up for us. Was tonight the performance I wanted to see before our first offical game? No, but the main goal was to get home with our team healthy and I think we were able to do that

Why couldn't the defense stop the run
Well, up until tonight we were the top ranked team at stopping the run. Tonight it seemed we forgot how to tackle a bit, too many missed and broken tackles hurt us. We need to wrap up and finish the play, not go for the flashy hit. Execution, execution, execution-- thats the key to success!

Finishing 3-1 vs 4-0
Doesn't concern me. Teams that have finished 4-0 have missed the playoffs and there are 0-4 preseason teams that have won the superbowl. This is one exhibition loss, well acknowldge it as such, and address it accordingly.

On Sunday Night Football week 1 matchup VS Carolina Gators
Thats what my attention is turning to now. The Gators have a high-powerd offensive team, and we will have to find ways to shut down their weapons.

OS questions for Coach Thompson?

Re: A NEW NFL --- REPLACEMENT TEAMS

Hi everyone I'm Joey Turner, the SNF tweeter! Throught each SNF game I will post live updates and thoughts about the game! Hope you tune in & enjoy! (all snf games will be broadcast and they, as well as Bulldogs games I will be playing, will have 8 minute quarters)

9/9/10 8:00 EST--- At the Coke Dome 30 mins away from kickoff between Iowa Meteors and the New Orleans Phoenix- Cant wait!

8:15- This replacement league must be on low budget for unis... NO is too much and IOW looks just like BUF all I can say is SMH

8:25- Kickoff is about ready- Iowa Meteors to receive opening kickoff

7:53 1stQ- Iowa's Deion WItherspoon goes deep but pass deflected by NO CB J.T. Crompton (firstplay of replacement NFL history!)UPDATE-- 2&10 pass play defelcted by crompton as well and 3rd down witherspoon gets sacked!!

7:07- IOW flagged for facemasking on punt return-NO ball near midfield. (Ref must be jetlagging cuz he said repeat 4th down)

* NO RB is a Witherspoon too (half brother of Deion!)
5:36 On 3&6 from the IOW 36 Lee Mathis bombs a pass into the endzone to Damon Wayne TOUCHDOWN NO! PAT GOOD! NO 7 IOW 0

2:55 NO Challenging WItherspoon 3&5 compeltion to Rojas. It looks like he came down out of bounds which will bring up 4&5 for IOW from the NO 26... UPDATE RULING IS OVERTURNED! IOW to attempt a 43 yard fg

2:51 IOW 43 yard FIELD GOAL ---- IOW 3 NO 7

0:58 IOW 4th down from NO 42-- Fake Punt Pass INTERCEPTED-- NO ball 1&10 NO 21

6:55 2ND NO 43 yard field goal attempt NO GOOD- WIDE RIGHT --1&10 Iowa on IOW 33

4:13 Lee Mathis another big pass play this time to Tito Aldrige TOUCHDOWN NO! PAT GOOD! IOW 3 NO 14.... Set up on a horrid punt by Iowa after a 3&out (NO took over on NO 42)

2:06 mathis 3rd deep strike is his 3rd TD (wayne this time) PAT GOOD! IOW 3 NO 21

1:45 Deion Witherspoon does his best Lee Mathis impression Deep 64 yard bomb to Tyson! TOUCHDOWN METEORS! PAT GOOD! IOW 10 NO 21

:49 MATHIS 8 YARD PASS TO WITHERSPOON --- TOUCHDOWN NO -- MATHIS 4 TDS IN FIRST HALF---UPDATE AFTER BOOT REVIEW WITHERSPOON RULED DOWN AT THE 1 YARD LINE-- 1&GOAL NO ON IOW 1

0:44 MATHIS HITS WAYNE ON FADE ROUTE--- TOUCHDOWN NO! PAT GOOD! IOW 10 NO 28

0:05 Witherspoon finds Tyson in the endzone for 2nd time TOUCHDOWN IOW! PAT GOOD! IOW 17 NO 28

Re: A NEW NFL --- REPLACEMENT TEAMS

POST GAME IOWA METEORS 24 NEW ORLEANS PHONEIX 42

IOWA COACH BRIAN HARDY: I'm disapointed but pleased we played hard. Today we just came up short. Couple neagtives, obvisouly the loss, only 30 offensive rushing yards, and allowing 556 yards to New Orleans paired up with 42 points. Hopefully we rebound next week against Allentown at home.

New Orleans coach Jameel (Jam) Harvey-- Very proud of our football team tonight! Anytime you put up 48 points your in a good position to win and Lee (Mathis) led this team like a QB should. Need to work on a few things on the defensive side of the ball, but we did a nice job tonight and overall im very happy with the effort and of course the W!
