Let's Bring Back Old Memories

November 30, 2009. Today in Notre Dame, Indiana, 5 year coach Charlie Weis is fired and ex- Cincinnati Brian Kelly is hired in hopes to turn around Notre Dame's 6-6 season from the previous year. Notre Dame hopes to get into the National Champoinship contentionmwith their schedule being one of the toughest in the nation.

Notre Dame is a school the goes way back, back before all of the Tim Tebows and Colt McCoys. Back before Alabama and Oregon were successful dynasties. Notre Dame has rich history and 11 football champoinships. (1924, 1929, 1930, 1943, 1946, 1947, 1949,1966, 1973, 1977, & 1988) But without a champoinship in 22 years, Brian Kelly tells reporters he hopes to bring Notre Dame back to what it used to be. "Notre Dame was very successful before I was born. I have respect for the previous coaches, including the legendary Charlie Weis, but I am going to do what the other coaches in recent history couldn't do." Kelly said. "I am going to win this school champoinships."

Re: Let's Bring Back Old Memories

2010 Notre Dame Season Preview
Notre Dame will try to improve from their 6 win season a year ago, but doing that will not be an easy task. Facing teams like Texas, Virginia Tech, Utah and USC, Coach Kelly will have to prove he is the right coach for the school.
The games against the non-ranked teams will still be difficult, but there are a few games Notre Dame should be able to blow past, including at Kansas, Eastern Carolina, at Navy and Tulsa. Wins against these teams should help their case for a bowl game or maybe even the National Champoinship.

Re: Let's Bring Back Old Memories

No Offense, Your Problem

Notre Dame shuts down Kansas in low scoring game.

"Well. To start, I am very proud of our defense. Getting that interception return for a touchdown was a great thing. But something we have to keep working on is protecting the ball. I think Crist fumbled it twice. But. Um. Fumbles are something you can't completely fix, just control." Kelly said Saturday afternoon. "We have a big game against the number 3 team in the nation, and it's going to be a challenge but if our defense plays like it did yesterday, we should give em a run for their money."

Notre Dames running game, led by Armando Allen, is what kept them alive against the poor Kansas defense, but in order to win games against the likes of Texas and USC, they need to step up their passing game.

Re: Let's Bring Back Old Memories

Notre Dame Stuns Nation and Shuts Down #3 Texas Longhorns

Notre Dame's defense completely shut down #3 Texas's high-powered offense, holding them to only 112 yards and 3 points. Texas was only 2-10 on third down and got their rushing game put on lockdown.

"Today is a great day for me, my players, and the school. Taking down the number 3 team in the nation is a great accomplishment." Brian Kelly told the press with a big smile on his face. "All of my players can't stop smiling. I can say the same for myself. We came into this game as underdogs and we showed the nation that the Notre Dame football team is what they didnt expect!" After a few laughs he then adds, "But as a coach I cant be completely happy. We had 2 fumbles off the option plays, which could have been avoided by just not pitching it. Dayne threw an interception, but that's not as bad since the corner back just made an amazing play on the ball, jumping up higher than our reciever. But today is a great day overall. it was nice going up 14-0 with the fumble for a touchdown right after we scored, and that 93 yard pass was a great play. I just want to tell everyone that Dayne is okay, just got the wind knocked out of him. No More further questions please."

Re: Let's Bring Back Old Memories

Crist Will Not Play in Game Against Michigan State
Today, Bian Kelly told reporters that Dayne Crist will not play against Michigan State due to an injury against Texas. Thinking it was only a minor injury, Bian Kelly has to play without his starting quarterback for possibly 2 weeks, which means he will miss the game against Michigan state and possibly the game against Stanford.

"It's really unfortunate. I thought it was just a minor injury when he was in a lot of pain. Thought he got the wind knocked out of him, but turned out he cracked a rib. I feel bad for him and I hope he makes a quick recovery so we can have him back on the field."
