New York Jets career

Started from off-season
Coach Name: Yo Momma Blowzz
Offensive Playbook: Shotteheimer Attack
Defensive Playbook: Jets All Out (created playbook)
Free Agency: Only FA signings were OLB Terrell Suggs and RT Damien Woody. Suggs will immediately be our starting ROLB and will play either DE in our 4-3 sets. We had some holes in the offensive line that bothered me, especially at RT. I initially considered signing Jordan Gross but passed on the opportunity, hoping a cheaper guy would come along.

2008 DRAFT SELECTIONS
RD1, Pick 6- CB Mike Jenkins
RD1, Pick 14- LG Branden Albert
RD2, Pick 37- LB Jordan Dizon
RD2, Pick 38- TE Jermichael Finley
RD3, Pick 68- WR Earl Bennett
RD4, Pick 99- WR Mario Manningham
RD4, Pick 110- QB Josh Johnson
RD5, Pick 130- DT Athya Rubin

Nice draft maneuvering if I do say so myself. Dizon was immediately moved to MLB and will compete for the 2nd MLB spot in our 3-4 defensive sets. Rubin was moved to RE and will compete for the starting RE spot in our 3-4 sets. He will have a shot at the 2nd DT spot in our 4-3 sets as well. We had only 1 TE on our roster and I didn't wanna let him slip through our hands so I reached on Finley. He will compete for the starting TE position.

UNDRAFTED ROOKIE SIGNINGS
HB Xavier Omon- power back with potential
WR Davone Bess- good route runner who may serve some time all over the field
OLB Geno Hayes- athletic, hard-hitting linebacker who can be useful in 3-4 or 4-3 sets
FS Josh Barrett- athletic freak who can compete for starting FS
RG David Thomas- scouted him and liked his potential

Re: New York Jets career

PRE-SEASON (simmed)
Week 1 vs. CLE: W 38-27
Week 2 vs. WAS: L 29-6
Week 3 vs. NYG: L 26-19
Week 4 vs. PHI: L 24-13

Not happy one bit about the 1-3 preseason record. I know, I know..."it's only preseason". But losing like that at any time during a season is a bad sign. Anyways...

Preseason Promise: Finish Below .500
Yea...Patriots and Bills in the division lessen our chances of making the playoffs. I'm not even sure if we'll win 4 or 5 games much less finish above .500!

FA SIGNING: I signed former Panthers TE Jeff King and moved him to FB. He'll still line up fairly often at the line of scrimmage though.

Re: New York Jets career

CURRENT STARTING OFFENSE
QB- Chad Pennington
HB- Thomas Jones
FB- Jeff King
WR- Laveranues Coles
WR- Jerricho Cotchery
TE- Jermichael Finley
LT- D'Brickashaw Ferguson
LG- Branden Albert
C- Nick Mangold
RG- Brandon Moore
RT- Damien Woody
OVERVIEW: Nice ball control-type offense. Pennington is one of the more accurate, reliable QBs in the league, despite his injury proneness. Thomas Jones is a solid, workhorse HB who will take a majority of the carries and hopefully make something of them. Coles/Cotchery/Bennett makes for a nice possession receiving group, all with nice hands. Shouldn't see many drops. Finley can be a potential go-to guy. I like that left side of the OL to run behind too. Good offense that can compliment the defense...hopefully.

CURRENT STARTING DEFENSE
LE- Shaun Ellis
DT- Kris Jenkins
RE- Athya Rubin
LOLB- Bryan Thomas
MLB- David Harris
MLB- Eric Barton
ROLB- Terrell Suggs
CB- Darrelle Revis
CB- Mike Jenkins
FS- Josh Barrett
SS- Kerry Rhodes
OVERVIEW: I have learned something very quickly while managing this team. Kris Jenkins is one fragile dude. Luckily, I have Rubin who can play DT in our 3-4 sets and backup DE Kenyon Coleman can play at RE. I want to start Dizon but I like Barton and I think his experience will come in handy while Dizon develops. I thought about starting Abram Elam over Barrett, but despite having a 5-point disadvantage in OVR, I found Barrett's skillset more suitable for our philosophy.

Before I announce the special teams unit...
FA SIGNING: I signed 28-year-old punter Donnie Jones. I then released Ben Graham. I have a younger punter with a bigger foot. Score.

CURRENT STARTING SPECIAL TEAMS
K- Mike Nugent
P- Donnie Jones
KR- Justin Miller
PR- Justin Miller
KOS- Mike Nugent
LS- Donald Thomas
3DRB- Leon Washington
OVERVIEW: Miller is our nickelback and return specialist. He's fast and has good vision. I thought hard about whether Jones or Washington should be our 3rd down back and came to the conclusion that Washington would see most of the snaps on 3rd down. I like Nugent and Jones as our kicker and punter. I like the leg on both of them. Still looking for a bigger leg at punter but Jones will do for now.

Re: New York Jets career

GAMEDAY MORNING PREVIEW
We got a division rival in the Dolphins. The fans want to see us win and that's what we intend to do. We don't have any significant injuries keeping anyone out. Kris Jenkins is banged up but he's playing anyways and we'll be limiting his snaps to make sure he stays off injured reserve. The Dolphins however are not playing their starting DT, Grady Jackson. That could mean something, could not.

Keys to the Success
Stop Ronnie Brown
John Beck CANNOT HURT US in the passing game. Focus on stopping Ronnie Brown and force them to attempt to utilize that pathetic excuse of a passing game.
Contain Jason Taylor
Awesome matchup in the trenches. D'Brickashaw Ferguson versus future hall of famer Jason Taylor. Finesse versus finesse. We contain him and they have no pass rush aside from maybe Joey Porter at OLB. We need to make sure Pennington has time to throw and more importantly, we need to make sure Pennington is not hit too much.

Let's get ready!

Game Overview
Damn, what a heartbreaker. We played a REALLY good game, just couldn't get anything going in the 2nd half when it counted. And boy, that drive that set up Feely for the FG was a result of poor execution defensively, something that hadn't been seen practically all game. Nugent went 0-2 on his field goals. We were playing in heavy rain...but really? He missed a 48-yarder hitting the upright and a 44-yarder missing the uprights completely. Maybe he'll do better next game. Damn Miami weather...like I said pre-game, John Beck at QB couldn't hurt us. And he didn't. A pathetic 48.6 QB rating and a 39% completion rate. I also need to start evaluating the team's roster pre-game. Had no idea Miami drafted Jonathan Stewart. And what the hell is up with us letting Lorenzo Booker do us like that? He only had 76 yards but...this is Lorenzo Booker we're talking about. We need help defending tight ends too. We need more nickel/dime plays for those obvious passing downs. Can't be sending the kitchen sink every 3rd down. Speaking of that, we need to get SACKS on the QB. Yep, we get pressure alright. But I want to see the QB on his booty.

We play another rival, the powerhouse Patriots, next week.

Re: New York Jets career

GAMEDAY MORNING PREVIEW
We got the Patriots later today. After dropping our game against Miami, it'd look really bad if we lost today and went 0-2. We're already last in the division. At least the Pats are banged up:
OUR INJURED PLAYERS: DT K. Jenkins, ROLB G. Hayes, MLB E. Barton
THEIR INJURED PLAYERS: SS R. Harrison, MLB T. Bruschi, WR R. Moss, LG R. Hoschstein, TE B. Watson, DT R. Moore.

Dang

Keys to Success
Roll coverage to Wes Welker
With Randy Moss AND Ben Watson out, all they really have now is Wes Welker. Revis will be matched with him but I hope Wes expects a lot of double teams and other tactics to make sure he doesn't do squat.
Run the ball
Harrison and Bruschi are two defensive playmakers...at least when it comes to the running game. Run on the strong side, taking advantage of Harrison's absence. As long as our OL can at least chip Seymour, Wilfork, and the rest of that massive defensive front, I think we can run the ball on this team

Let's erase the memory of last week's game and focus on the task at hand.

Re: New York Jets career

Very sorry to have to say this but my file save was messed up and I lost pretty much everything I've done so far. And I don't think I want to start over.
