OFFICIAL Scouting Report
HERSCHEL SIMS - #23
Committed to: Oklahoma State
Height: 5'10" Weight: 190lbs.
GPA: 3.0
40-Yd. Dash: 4.43 Seconds
Report:
On the Hoof: Sims isn't the biggest back, but he is compact and muscular. He is built like Miami signee Eduardo Clements.
Needs Improvement: Doing whatever it takes to be durable and stay healthy. Being strong and flexible is a must. He may need to be a little more patient while his blocks set up.
Most Impressive: He can change directions on a dime, is hard to see when he hits the line of scrimmage, and is an excellent pass receiver out of the backfield. Sims is like a pinball bouncing off defenders as he gains maximum speed on the way to the end zone. His game is a lot like fellow Texan LaDainian Tomlinson.
Conclusion: Barring an injury, I can see him getting playing time as a freshman. He is pound-for-pound one of the toughest backs in the country. He can also be dangerous as a return man and receiver. He has the makings of an all-conference performer.
Comparable Player: LaDainian Tomlinson
