UNO Unveils new uniforms

For one time only, UNO will be wearing red uniforms. They will be worn for homecoming vs. ULL on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010. The uniforms pay homage to the last UNO football team, who used red as a primary color.

Take away a hiccup in the 4th, and the defense was perfect. UNO came out in special one-time unis and blew the doors off of the ULL team. It was a respectable outing by the offense, they shot themselves in the foot once or twice during the course of the game (be it holding on to the ball too long or making the wrong reads). But with a defense like this, you could afford to make those mistakes. And with 3 games vs 1 and 2 win teams, you have to wonder if the Privateers can make it to a bowl in their first year, a rare feat.

SMU 17, UNO 14

The comeback fell short. From the kickoff, SMU out manned and out gunned the UNO offense and defense. For the entire 1st half, the Privateers had no answer for the Mustang offense, only lucky red zone stops. It took 29 minutes and 36 seconds, the usually potent UNO attack to get on the board. But from there, there was a power shift. The third was a stalemate for the most part, but only on paper. The Privateers were driving often, but once again they would bog down, until UNO WR Robison broke loose on a 70-yard track meet to close out the 3rd. Following a quick 3 and out, the Privateers found themselves with the ball with 6:00 left in the 4th, and the Privateers chewed all but :22 seconds in getting to the goal line, including a clutch 4th down conversion. On 4th and goal, Coach Johnson decided to go for the fake FG--and it failed.
