2011 Offensive Preview

Aaron Murray will have to find a go to receiver other than AJ Green

Georgia looked bad last year in the first four games, going 1-3. Once AJ Green returned they looked better, going 5-4. They made the Liberty Bowl, but would end up losing to UCF.

Unfortunately for the Georgia offense, AJ Green decided to forego his senior season and go pro. However, that doesn't mean this offense will be as bad as last year, in the first four games. Aaron Murray, who had a stellar freshman season, will be a sophomore, and possibly a dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate.

Caleb King will more than likely start for the Bulldogs, since Washaun Ealy decided to transfer, and Isaiah Crowell is only a freshman. Many people forget that Caleb King came out of high school as one of the most highly touted recruits in the running back class. However, he hasn't been able to stay healthy and out of trouble. If he can avoid those things, he could shine in his final year as a Georgia Bulldog.

At the receiver spots you've got Tavarres King, who will fill AJ Green's spot, and Rantavious Wooten. Both are not very well known around the league, but are very capable players.

The line only lost Clint Boling, and has a ton of depth. The offensive line underachieved last year, deserving some of the credit for the terrible running game. They will need to open holes for the backs this year, or this team could be one dimensional, and not produce very much, offensively.

2011 Defense and Special Teams Preview

Bacarri Rambo will look to lead the defense this year.

Willie Martinez was fired after the 2009 season. Todd Grantham was hired to replace him. Truth be told, the Georgia defense was very good for a first year defense, trasitioning from a 4-3 to a 3-4. The problem is they got no support from the offense.

The leader up front is DeAngelo Tyson, but could be the junior college transfer, Jonathan Jenkins. Jenkins is a six foot four, three hundred forty pound nose tackle.

The linebacking corp is very deep this year, even with the loss of Justin Houston, who decided to forego his senior season, and slip to a third day prospect. Cornelius Washington and Jarvis Jones, the transfer from USC, will more than likely be the starting linebackers on the outside. Ray Drew, the very highly touted linebacker from Thomas County High School, in Thomasville, Georgia, will push these linebackers for a starting spot. Christian Robinson and Alec Ogletree, who played safety last year, will be starting on the inside linebacker spot. Richard Samuel and TJ Stripling are very good linebackers too, and will see plenty of playing time this year.

The defensive backfield could be one of the best in the SEC. They are on paper, but can that transfer to the field? They have lots of experience. Bacarri Rambo and Brandon Boykin have plenty of SEC experience and will need to lead this defense. Both had multiple interceptions and pass break ups. Rambo returned one interception for a touchdown. Rambo was second on the team in tackles, with 82, and had 5 tackles for loss. Brandon Boykin had 44 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss. Branden Smith, Sanders Commings, and Jakar Hamilton are the other three top defensive backs.

Blair Walsh and Drew Butler are some of the top special team players in the country. Walsh was 46-47 on extra points and 20-23 on field goal attempts with a long of 53. Drew Butler averaged 44.5 yards per punt and pinned 19 inside the 20 on 50 attempts.

Branden Smith returned ten punts and average 14.3 yards per return. He and Brandon Boykin will more than likely split time returning punts this year. Brandon Boykin returned 34 kickoffs for 825 yards, averaging 24.3 yards per kickoff, and returning one for a touchdown.

Thank you. I might do player interviews or something like that to kill time until the game releases.

Following man, I "stole" your idea of starting early so I could get a nice intro. Thanks for the idea.
