Game Notes
South Carolina is coming into Athens with a win at East Carolina, 42-24. Georgia is coming off of a close game against Boise State. Even though Georgia is ranked lower than South Carolina, Georgia is a 6 point favorite.

The winner of this series has scored just 20 points or fewer in 8 out of the last 10 meetings. Georgia leads the series record, 46-15-2. Last year, South Carolina held Georgia to season lows in points, first downs, and yards. They will look to do much of the same this year.

Georgia: Won 7 of the last 9 meetings.
Keys to Win: Carlton Thomas will need to pick up where he left off, because South Carolina has some excellent, veteran cornerbacks. Their defensive front must get pressure on Stephen Garcia and Brandon Boykin will have to limit Alshon Jeffery's big play ability. The defense must also wrap up Marcus Lattimore and limit his yards after contact.

South Carolina: 1-3 in Athens since 2003 and lost in a shootout in 2009, 41-37.
Keys to Win: Stephen Garcia has to get Alshon Jeffery involved. Marcus Lattimore will need to get at least 30 touches and get into the second level consistently. The defense will need to stop Georgia's running backs so that Aaron Murray can't use the play action pass.

X Factor: Orson Charles. Orson Charles has great hands and can block just as well, to open up lanes for the running backs. He is arguably, one of the best tight ends in college football, yet very under rated.

When it's all said and done: Georgia will get their second straight victory at home against a top 25 team. Carlton Thomas will rush for over 100 yards and have Steve Spurrier throwing his visor left and right.

Re: Between the Hedges: A Georgia Bulldogs Dynasty (NCAA 12)

Developing Story
Multiple sources have reported that the Big East and the Big 12 are looking to expand to 12 teams. The Big 12 lost Colorado and Nebraska last year, and the Big East will get TCU next off season, but both conferences want to make their conference stronger, and add a championship game. The Big East has confirmed that they will have their Big East Championship in Washington, D.C., if they get to 12 members. The Big 12 will more than likely have their championship game in Dallas, the same place they had it before falling to 10 members. As this story develops, we will let you know more.

Re: Between the Hedges: A Georgia Bulldogs Dynasty (NCAA 12)

Dawgs Offense Comes Alive In Second Half To Take First Conference Game

Kwame Geathers got to the quarterback 3 times against rival South Carolina
Athens,GA -- It was a beautiful day in Athens for some football. It was a defensive game the whole first half. No team scored, or even came close to scoring in the first quarter. South Carolina was driving to start the second, and finally, Marcus Lattimore ran the ball in the end zone to put up the first points of the day, and give his Gamecocks a 7-0 lead. Georgia would answer back with 2 consecutive field goals to make it a 7-6 game. Right before the half, Stephen Garcia hooked up with All American Alshon Jeffery for a 41 yard pass, to put the Gamecocks in field goal range. Jay Wooten would hit the 33 yard field goal to put South Carolina ahead, 10-6 at half time.

Georgia's offense finally came to life in the second half. Isaiah Crowell scored his first career touchdown in the third quarter to give the Dawgs their first lead of the day. They would never look back from there. Just before the third quarter ended, Carlton Thomas squeaked by the defensive line for a 6 yard touchdown to give the Bulldogs some room to breathe. Then, when the Dawgs got the ball back in the fourth, Aaron Murray hit Tavarres King on a beautiful out route, for a 37 yard touchdown, thanks to a Stephon Gilmore missed tackle. Then when South Carolina didn't think it could get any worse, the Gamecocks gave up 6 sacks in the last three minutes, thanks to the Georgia secondary not allowing a passing lane. Stephen Garcia was injured with two minutes left, because of the relentless pressure by the Georgia defensive linemen. Garcia had been taking a pounding before he was injured though, dropping back to throw three passes before he was hurt, he had to scramble and take it himself, which is what led up to his injury. He is not expected to miss any time.

Georgia Head Coach Mark Richt said after the game, "This team is way different than last years team. We are starting to close out games, running the ball well, and that's opening up the passing game, because they're having to bring up eight or nine men in the box. Aaron (Murray) is also more mature. He is able to read the defense and change the play if he reads a blitz." "It feels good to get our first win in the conference. We know we have to take it one game at a time, and we know our goal is to win the conference championship, and in order to do that, you have to show up and play hard, and with the want to win, not to play to not lose."

Georgia will prepare for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. The game is scheduled for noon on Saturday.

Re: Between the Hedges: A Georgia Bulldogs Dynasty (NCAA 12)

Bulldogs Embarrass Chanticleers

Ken Malcome breaks through a tackle and takes it to the house.

Athens, GA-- The game was not even close. The opening play was a 13 yard run by Carlton Thomas. You knew it was going to be a blowout, but not this bad. Coastal Carolina went 3 and out almost every time they got the ball. Georgia had four running backs that rushed for over 100 yards, Tavarres King broke the single game record for most yards in a game, with 202 yards on four receptions, and Aaron Murray only threw nine passes and completed six of them for 270 yards.
"I didn't want to beat them this bad, but there was nothing we could do, Mark Richt said at the press conference after the game. "We ran the play clock down to under ten seconds the whole second half, their defense just didn't wrap up. I'm not trying to dis them, but that's what happened. But we learned from this game. We learned that we are the most penalized team in college football. Twenty penalties? Are you kidding me? They had better come to practice ready to run."

Final Score: #19 Georgia Bulldogs 101 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers: 9

Notable Georgia Player Stats:
QB Aaron Murray: 428.6 Rating, 6/9, 270 yards, 3 TD
RB Richard Samuel: 18 attempts, 184 yards, 10.2 YPC, 2 TD, 47 Long
RB Carlton Thomas: 17 attempts, 169 yards, 9.9 YPC, 4 TD, 60 Long
RB Isaiah Crowell: 10 attempts, 174 yards, 17.4 YPC, 2 TD, 59 Long
RB Ken Malcome: 6 attempts, 148 yards, 24.6 YPC, 2 TD, 62 Long
WR Tavarres King: 4 Recpetions, 202 yards, 50.5 YPC, 2 TD, 66 Long

Heisman Watch

Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
15-27, 344 Yards, 5 Carries, 24 Yards, 3 Total Touchdowns, Andrew Luck did everything in his power to try to beat Arizona, but he couldn't do it by himself.

Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State
25-35, 314 Yards, 3 Touchdowns in the win against Toledo. He bounced back in a big way and has his team back on track.

Daniel Herron, RB, Ohio State
27 Carries, 140 Yards, 3 Touchdowns, 2 Receptions, 39 Yards. A big reason Ohio State was able to escape from Coral Gables with a win.

Onterio McCalebb, RB, Auburn
25 Carries, 109 Yards, 2 Receptions, 13 Yards. Carried the load for Auburn at Death Valley and was the reason they got a W.

Carlton Thomas, RB, Georgia
17 Carries, 169 Yards, 4 Touchdowns. Went crazy against Boise State and now Coastal Carolina. Will he be consistent for the rest of the season? If so, he could win the Heisman, making Georgia fans forget about Washaun Ealy and Caleb King.
