BLAZERS DOMINATE OLE MISS!

BIRMINGHAM, ALA - Adam Dyks passed for 333 yards and four touchdowns, but it was the defense who grabbed three of their own as the UAB Blazers continue to dominate beating the No.24 Mississippi Rebels 70-3.
"Its still early in the season, but right now we feel we're the best team in the country, watch the film and decide, you'll leave asking yourself how come this team isn't ranked." A irritated defensive end Tom Cox said after the game.
The Blazers played with that type of attidude as they completely destroyed the previously unbeaten Rebels.
Receivers Matt Ford (4 for 123) Travis Jackson (3 for 105) and Dan Sims (3 for 104) all went over 100 yards during a showcase of offensive brilliance by the Blazers (4-0, 2-0),scoring 35 second quarter points on their way to a 32-point halftime lead before posting its largest victory at Legion Field in school history.
UAB has scored 70 for the second time this season and third time since head coach Travis Rhatigan became head coach four seasons ago.
"Its a fine line in playing good football and running up the score." Rhatigan said. "I feel we're just playing good football, they have to try and stop us. I cant tell my guys to take a knee midway throught the third quarter."

Ole Miss (3-1, 0-1), who just did not have a answer for both UAB's high powered offensive attack and their swarming defense was forced into five turnovers, three of which were returned for score's.
Marcus McGee passed for 188 yards for Ole Miss but was sacked five times and threw three interceptions.
Earlier this week, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt said he felt the Rebels had "closed the gap more" with the usual SEC powers but did not include UAB in that conversation.
"Oh yea, we got wind of what he said, basically Bama, Auburn, LSU and Georgia were the teams they were chasing. We used that as extra motivation." Soft spoken quarterback Adam Dyks stated.

With the Blazer fan base repeatedly chanting "Over-rated" every time Ole Miss walked off the field, UAB's Dyks was brilliant coming on to the field. He went 11 for 15 and is on pace to shattering UAB's single season touchdown pass record throwing four more touchdowns, his first hitting Vince Jackson from 30 yards out he would go on to throw two more to Travis Jackson and his fouth fell in the hands of RS- Freshmen Dan Sims as he out ran the Rebel defense for a 54 yard score.
"We were just in a zone. We all wanted a piece of them." Travis Jackson said after grabbing scores from 80 and 16 yards. "When we're this hot, its tough to stop us."

Running back Cody Gore added scoring runs of 36 and a one yard plunge to cap off UAB's offensive day in the fourth quarter, in his second start Gore went over 100 yards again rushing 10 times for 102 yards
With all that offense, it was hard to over look a impressive performance by the UAB Blazer defense who continue to prove they are one of the best units in the land. After Ole Miss drove the ball 7 plays for 68 yards and notched a field goal to go up 3-0. UAB put the clamps down.
"That was too easy." Middle Linebacker Timi McCollum said. "They went right down the field on us, I gathered our unit told them it was unacceptable and we came out swinging after that."
Down 3-0 to start the second quarter Timi McCollum would force Ole Miss running back Luke Herron to fumble the ball, defensive end Tom Cox was there for the scoop and the score igniting the Blazer defense and the crowd. The ensuing drive saw corner Harvey Nelson grabbing his second interception of the season. The Blazers would go on to score to go up 14-3. The very next drive the crowd of over 60,000 saw the Blazers force their third straight turnover when Timi McCollum stripped quarterback Marcus Mcgee his second forced fumble of the game, fellow backer Cortez Means would scoop the ball and score putting UAB up 21-3 in a matter of minutes.
" I dont think we could here our selves celebrating." Said Means after his defensive touchdown. "The energy in their was amazing."

The defense wasn't done. Tom Cox would grab four sacks on the day and cornerback Adam Love would get a interception in the third quarter setting up another Blazer score. With the game already out of reach strong safety Dominique Rhodes put the finishing touches on the win when he returned a fourth quarter interception 27 yards for the score.

The Blazers held Ole Miss to 5 of 12 on third downs and held a total yards advantage of 496 to 269. Ole Miss ran the ball 38 times but could only get 81 net yards.
Next up for the Blazers is a home game one of their newest and most hated rivals, Auburn.

Eddie White's big day leads Auburn past Cowboys

• Auburn Hills, Ala - Auburn running back Eddie White ran for 196 yards and three touchdowns as the War Eagles pulled away from the No. 5 Oklahoma State 45-24. Auburn's defense held Oklahoma State's P. Warren to 13-30 passing picking him off four times. Auburn extended their record to 4-0 heading into their showdown with UAB next week.

#14 Boston College (3-1) at #24 North Carolina (3-1)
For North Carolina, they will need to try and stop NCAA leading rusher John Williams. Williams has been a huge reason why Boston college is 3-1 this season, stopping him and applying pressure on the golden Eagles defense is key. Tar Hell Quarterback Joe Smart has played smart football throwing 11 touchdowns and only one interception. He'll need receiver Chandler Roberts to continue his success Roberts leads the ACC with 7 touchdown receptions. With a conference loss already The Tar Heels need this to keep pace with the Hurricanes.


Florida (4-0) at#13 Mississippi State (3-1)
The new look Gators are making some noise in the SEC as they try to get back to past dominance, theyll take on a Mississippi State team who are legitimiate contenders in the SEC western division. The Gators will be without starting quarterback Benjamin Jamison (11td,1int) they hope for back up Jon Woods to step up who went 4-12 last week after Jamisons injury. The Florida defense is however the emotional leader of this team and will need to find ways to slow down Buck Browning and Mississippi State's #6 ranked offense in the country, this game will let us know if the Gators are back





#5 Auburn (4-0) at #23 UAB (4-0)
Gameday will be on campus for this huge match-up. The last two meetings between the two have been decided by a combined 8 points with UAB winning both classics. Auburn features a tough running game led by Eddie White, White is no stranger to this defense as rushed for 135 yards and a score against UAB last season. To Counter the Blazers have the nations #1 defense not only against the run but overall, the Blazers defense has given up just two offensive touchdowns in four games. Auburn's defense is no slouch either as they lead the country with a +10 turnover ratio grabbing four interceptions a week, UAB's high powered offense may meet its match this week.

Yea, I always read Boost and his VTech stuff bc he had a very in depth game recap... I read yours the Win the day Oregon one and I scan through others but you update yours more frequently so thats the one I take time to read!!
