Hurricanes Set
The Tone

#14 Miami returns to Miami with a Conference Victory

Jacory Had a good performance against Virginia

Charlottesville, VA -
Everything was just like they expected from this match up. Last year game was just pure luck for the cavaliers. That wasn't the case for it this year. Miami made sure they got what they came for! [38-13]

A foggy afternoon in charlottesville, as the cavaliers took the field to prepare for the storm that was coming into town. Many experts had Miami winning this hands because the cavaliers aren't that great of a team right now. Virginia kicked off the game with the ball their offense was struggling at time but could move the ball. Sophomore QB Ross Metheny went 15 out of 35 for 326Yds 1 TD and 1 INT. The rushing game wasn't really there for them as, Jr RB perry Jones touched the ball 20 times for 64 Yds and no touchdowns. Jr RB Clifton Richardson touched the ball 3 times for 20 Yds and again no touchdown. The defense record 4 sacks and 2 INT on the night.

Hurricanes had a good to great outing on the night. Jacory went 14 out of 26 for 198 Yds and 3 TD to go along with 2 INT. The rushing game started out slow but picked up down the road. Miami had a combined 32 touches for 138 Yds and 1 TD on the ground. Mike James needs one more 100+ game in order to surpass 1,000 yards on the year. The defensive record 5 sacks on the night along with 1 int.

The game started out slow for both team. Their defense were ready to knock someone out. It went half way through the first qtr until Virginia was able to score on a FG [0-3] which was the only score that was posted while the first qtr had a slow pace. The second qtr picked up the pace of the game as Miami Kicker Jake Wieclaw knocked a beautiful kick in-between the upright to tie up the game. [3-3] Four minutes had passed in the game and it was a deadlock between the two teams. Miami finally was able to break out and score thanks to TE Chase ford who had a great game. [7-3]

Less then a minute left in the Qtr the cavaliers had a chance to either take the lead or kick a field goal and close the gap in the game. Metheny had the best protect he had all night as, he threw up a bomb down field and Freshman WR Miles Gooch made an amazing diving catch to set up a field goal to draw them closer. [7-6]

Freshman Gooch is gonna be something special down the road

This was a closer game then many would have thought but it didn't stay that way for long. The hurricanes moved the ball down the field with relative easy against a not so great Virginia defense. Darian Hall was able to get in on the action and found the endzone on a short 4 Yd run. [17-6] Not so long after that score Miami was able to find pay-dirt once again thank to Chase Ford who acquired his second TD on the night. [24-6]

Already up by a huge margin Miami decided that they will still come out and sling the ball around. Harris made an amazing pass to Senior WR LaRon Byrd which surprised everyone and even himself that he came down with it and was able to score. [31-6]

LaRon Byrd Making a Great Catch for a Touchdown!

The game was already out of hand and no way was the Cavaliers gonna come back with less then a minute left on the clock. Their defense did happen to finally step up and INT the ball for the second time on the night...but that wasn't gonna help them out in anyway. However that turnover didn't last long for them, as Ross Matheny was INT by Jordan Futch who returned it the distance for the touchdown. [38-6]The Cavaliers wasn't gonna close out the game without scoring a touchdown. Metheny had enough time to find his receiver down the field for a touchdown which didn't matter much. [38-12]

Offense Player of the game
Chase Ford TE (SR)
4 Rec, 53 Yds, 2 TD

Defense Player of the game
Cam Johnson RE (SR)
4 Tkls, 2 TFL, ATK, 2 Sks

Two NewHurricanes!

Miami Gardens, FL. - Last we heard about the Hurricanes recruits was that they had only two commitments so far in the year. Only two? The season is half way over and they only got two players coming to the "U". They lost out on DT Blake Perkins who will be playing for Florida Gators. They Lost Quarter back Jason Bryant to the Tide. We been told that the #10 ranked MLB Chad Moss had committed to Minnesota...which kinda put them in a hole for recruiting so far. With bad news come good news for the hurricanes. The 'canes were able to get two new recruit to commit to the "U" this past weekend.

Name: Darren Temple Okeechobee,Fl
Height/Weight:5'11,193 lbs
Position: Wide Receiver
Position Rank: #12
National Rank: #29
Star Potential: 4****
SPARQ:
76.00

Temple is a great route runner and can get to top speed quickly. The best place for temple to best use his skill set would be in the slot where he would cause mismatches against linebackers. Temple holds the record for most receiving yards at his high school were they fell short of advancing to the finals.

Name:Jay Horn Westchester, FL.
Height/Weight:6'4,223 lbs
Position:Quarterback
Position Rank:#30
National Rank: #656
Star Potential: 3***
SPARQ: 65.00

Young brother to Tyler Horn who is a senior and plays center at the "U." Jay's skills set doesn't pop out at you. He not a great passer and doesn't have good accuracy. What makes him different his how he plays football. He comes out of a spread/air raid kind of offense in high school were he was ask to "if you don't see any open, just take off" and that he did. He used his legs to beat teams instead of his arms. A couple of things he needs to work on are his throwing mechanics, pocket presence , and understanding the defense coverage.

Thanks for tuning into RecruitingFLY. We bring you the most coverage on prospect around the nation!

#12 Miami @ Duke

The Hurricanes breeze by Duke
Miami is buzzing following a 30-15 win over Duke.

Forston was in the Quarterback face all night!

Durham, NC -
A great game here out in North Carolina. The hurricanes did what they needed to do to keep their hopes alive for an ACC Championship match-up. Duke on the other had needs to get better if they ever want to compete. The hurricanes blew the blue devils away in tonight game. [30-15]

A Thursday night game between the Duke blue devils and the hurricanes of Miami. The weather called for light snow later in the day but you can never trust the weather. The snow covered the field but that didn't stop anyone from playing the game today. The fans were ready and hoping that their team could pull out a shocker for them!

Miami offense started out a abit bump for them but got better later in the game which is usually how they would win. Jacory has went 16 out of 27 for 142 Yds with 1 TD and 3 INT to boot. Not the usually nights harris has been having as of late. The running game was their for them all night combining for 32 touches for 219 Yds and 2 TDs. Mike James surpassed the 1,000 Yd mark for the season and also racking up his 10th rushing touchdown on the season. He touched the ball 22 times for 187 Yds and 2 touchdowns on the night. He has been he can be the workhorse of any offense. On the defense side of the ball they were only able to get to the quarterback 3 times and force 1 int..not a good night for the hurricanes defense.

Dukes offense was quite surprising to some. Jr QB Sean Renfree went 18 out of 29 for 139Yds and no touchdowns. Renfree also put together some nice runs on the night going for 14 attempts for 70 Yds. Add Jr HB Desmond Scott stats to that who had touched the ball 19 times for 117 Yds and 2Tds on the night. Talk about a nice Quarterback & Runningback tandem. Their defense didn't get any pressure on Jacory only recording 1 sack on the night and 2 INT.

Duke needs to bring more pressure if they want to win!

The opening drive of the game began with Miami who struggled to get anything going, as Jacory threw two INT early in the game. Hopefully after those two mistake he made he will make smarter decisions later in the game. Now with the ball duke tried to capitalize on the opportunity. Renfree was passing the ball around find receiver and he managed to make some plays with his feet. [See Video Below]

After that key turnover Miami found some momentum to move the ball down the field and was able to punch the ball in thanks to mike james on a 4 Yd run. [7-0] With Miami already putting up points in the game duke needed to find a way to score and quickly to keep pace with them. They found their rhythm on offense but couldn't find the endzone on that ensuing drive. They were able to come away with a field goal to show it. [7-3] Miami's defense made a nice stand to limit dukes scoring now it was their offense turn to put up points onto he board. That they did, as they moved the ball with such easy that it ended with a touchdown to the Mackey Semifinalist Chase Ford for 7. [14-3] The half ended and we could see the blowout over the horizon. The third Qtr started and it was a deadlock for both of these teams. Both defenses turned up their intensity level and made quick plays to get the other teams offense off the field. It wasn't until duke punted away the ball that they made a mistake in letting Senior WR Travis Benjamin get a hold of the ball, as he ducked and dodged the blue devils coverage team. He found the pay-dirt by returning the punt 66 Yds for the TD. [21-3]

Duke finally made their move int he 4th quarter where it was nearly to late to make a comeback. Desmond Scott was running all over the Miami defense in the 4th quarter and finally crossed the endzone for dukes first touchdown of the nice. They tried for a 2 point conversion but couldn't get it. [21-9]

Miami wasn't gonna be shown up in the running game. So that all they did was run the rock and sell the run which in fact work for them, as their offensive line opened up some big holes to run threw. They did stall as soon as they got near the endzone and had to settle for a field goal. [24-9]. Just under two minutes left in the game and duke needed to score and recover the onside kick. So they put the ball in the most explosive offensive play they had and that would be Desmond Scott who broke loose for a 67 Yd run which gave them a 1st & Gl. on the next couple of plays they managed to some how get into the endzone but once again failed for the 2-pt conversion. [24-15]

The Hurricanes new that they were gonna try an onside kick and was prepared for it. They recovered it and knew they had to score if they wanted to close out the game. So they handed off the ball to Mike James who rumbled down the field for 35 Yds and a touchdown sealing Miami's victory but they did miss on the PAT which didn't matter all that much. [30-15]

Mike James make it a 1,000Yd season

Dual Offensive Player of the Game
Mike James RB (SR)
22 Car, 187 Yds, 2 TD
1 Rec, 1 Yd

Desmond Scott RB (JR)

19 Car, 117 Yds, 2 TD
6 Rec, 23 Yds

Game Notes
Its that time of the year. When Florida State takes on in state rival Miami in their annual rivalry game. Last year we saw Florida State straight dominate the hurricanes through out the entire game. Let's hope this year will be different then last. Many experts have Florida State winning this one but miami should prove them wrong once the game starts!
