Laying down the hammer!
Dishing out the pain

Linebackers

#59 Junior James Gaines 6'3", 223 lbs
Gains saw limited time on the field last season but looks to be the #1 guy for the OLB position. He has everything you want in an OLB. Great play recognition, Pursuit, can drop into coverage and a solid tackler.

#94 Junior Kelvin Cain 6'3", 228 lbs
Cain has to be the vocal point of this defense. A former OLB moved to the inside Cain has to be able to stand his ground in the rushing game and also be able to drop back into coverage to support the pass.

#41 Sophomore(RS) Antonio Kinard 6'3", 217 lbs

Replacing Sean Spence isn't gonna be an easy job for Kinard. He has great sideline to sideline speed and takes good pursuit angles at the running-back or quarterback. Kinard needs to be able to get off his blocks quicker if wants to get into the backfield.

Cornerbacks and Safeties

Shut down the receiver

Lock down the field

Cornerbacks

#32 Junior(RS) Lee Chambers 5'10",186
Our best cornerback on the field. Chambers is very intelligent and knows how to make a play on the ball. He is the most experienced corner the hurricanes have. So hopefully he will be able to keep everything together in the secondary.

#14 Freshman(RS) Dallas Crawford 5'10", 196 lbs
Dallas was red-shirted last year and now is ready to play some football! He will be the #2 corner on the team after showing get strides in the spring beating out Thomas for the job. Dallas knows how to make big plays when needed and that what the hurricanes hope he can do.

#25 Sophomore Thomas Finnie 6'1", 171 lbs
Finnie will once again be playing as the nickel back. He knows the position well and should make improvements from last year. He should eventually crack the starting lineup by next year at the latest.

#20 Freshman Cedric Williams 6'1", 195 lbs

Williams makes a perfect fit into the Miami's defense with Brandon McGee leaving early for the NFL Draft. He tall and lanky with despicable speed to him. He knows how to play both man and zone very well and should fit in as the dime back.

Ball Hawks
Making the play down field

Safeties

#7 Senior(RS) Vaughn Telamaque 6'2", 208 lbs
With the return of Armstrong it takes pressure off of telamaque. he only had one interception last year will not cut it this year. He has great play recognition and plays the zone coverage to near perfection. Now he just need to put it all together.
#26 Senior Ray Ray Armstrong 6'4", 221 lbs
Tied for first on the team with the most tackles. Ray Ray decided to come back for his senior year. That automatically improves the hurricanes secondary with Armstrong returning. He should have a huge impact once again on defense.
