Conference Outlook

The ACC Conference Outlook

Who will win the ACC trophy?

A new season, A new opportunity, and A new champion! That is what it means to play in the ACC. With the 2013-2014 season looming around the corner. We take a look on what experts think on how the conference will shake out this year.

Atlantic
1 - #24 Boston College
2 - NC State
3 - Maryland
4 - Florida State
5 - Clemson
6 - Wake Forest

Last year, we saw the up and coming eagles take the Atlantic division by surprise. They went on to win the conference championship by beating Georgia tech. Will the eagles soar again? or will another team claim the reigns?

Coastal
1 - #11 Virginia Tech
2 - #14 Miami
3 - #18 Georgia Tech
4 - North Carolina
5 - Duke
6 - Virginia

Georgia Tech took control of the coastal division last year by beating Virginia tech. The yellow jackets then went on to loose the conference championship game to Boston. Will the Yellow-jackets make another run? or will someone other then virginia tech be crowned the Coastal king?

#1 - Soph. Trevor Hill TE [Miami]
"The 2012 Mackey award winner looks to try and add the most prestigious award in college football history. After an amazing show last year were we saw hill catches the ball 102 times for 1,279Yds and 26 TDs. Hill will have to be ontop of his game if he wants to come anywhere close to the Heisman trophy."

#2 - Sr. Jeff Scott HB [Ole Miss]
"One of the vocal points in the rebels offense. Scott wants to end his senior season on a high note and that would be to win the heisman trophy. In 2012 he ran for over 1,000 yds on 292 carries for 7 touchdowns. If he can build on that impressive '12 performance then the skies the limit for this young man"

#3 - Jr.(RS) Jesse Scroggins QB [USC]
"A big reason in why the trojans were so close to getting into the national championship. Jesse had a great season last year passing for over 2,783 Yds for 24 Tds and 17 Ints. He also has shown he can get it done on the ground to carrying the ball 141 times for 456 Yds for 7 TDs. He and the trojans needs to have a big season if they want to win the Pac-12"

#4 - Sr.(Rs) Kyle Zulegar HB [Wisc]

"The number 2 running back in the badgers offense. Kyle touched the ball 288 times for 1,434 Yds and 10 touchdowns. Talk about smash mouth football. With James white returning Kyle could see a dip in production."

#5 - Sr.(RS) Corey Robinson QB [Troy]
"The Trojans had two back to back great season and its thanks to Robinson. Now moved from Sun Belt conference to C-USA Robinson must step his game up if they look to succeed. Last year was a break out season for robinson passing for over 3,772 Yds for 41 TDs and only 7 Int. What a lethal weapon this guy arm is."

In the spotlight!
The hurricanes outlast the bulldogs to snag the win!

Trevor Hill makes a last minute touchdown

Athens, GA - Its time to put on the pads and start running on the gridiron. The College football season is here ladies and gentlemen. We are here live in Athens, Georgia to bring you today's game between two top 25 teams. #14 Miami Hurricanes take on the #9 Georgia bulldogs a SEC-ACC crossover. We saw an impressive outing between these two powerhouse in tonight game.

The headlights were on and everyone was prepared, as the college season was underway. Georgia had the honors of starting off the game on offense first and boy did they not disappoint. The bulldogs offensive line paved the way for Jr.(RS) Ken Malcome to run all over the hurricanes defense. If it was not for the injury to Malcome then the out come would have been different. After the 3 and out for the bulldogs the hurricanes got a chance to try and put up some points on the board. Offensively the canes struggled abit having not faced a defense that played a 3-4 before. Their running attack got stuffed quickly and early and the bulldogs defense brought the pressure. Thankfully for Fr. Kicker Darren pace who knocked a kick just barely inside the crossbar for the first points on the board for the canes. [3-0] Just mere minutes later the hurricanes defense would find a way to score also. Georgia's Quarterback Sr. Hutson mason got intercepted by Middle Linebacker Shayon Green who took it to the house for the score. [10-0]

UGA made sure they were not gonna go scoreless out of the first quarter, as they knock in a couple of field goal kicks to grab some type of momentum. [10-6] Those field goal really helped the bulldogs gain some confidence. Quarterback Hutson Mason found the weakness of the hurricanes defense which was the secondary. Mason abused them all night racking up 300Yds and only one touchdown which gave them the lead they needed. [10-13] The rest of the quarter was a quiet one until about :32 seconds left in the first half in which Georgia scored on a field goal extending their lead. [10-16]

Only a little bit of time left in the first half and the canes did not want Georgia gaining any momentum going into the locker room. Williams then put together a quick 1-2 play that drove them down the field and put them into a position to score. With about :14 seconds left on the clock williams snapped the ball and connected with soph. receiver tony hicks for the score taking them into the second half with some huge momentum.[17-16] The second half began and the canes started it off with a bang. After two run plays that went nowhere. Sr. runningback Michael ford took the ball and went 63Yds to the pay-dirt. [24-16]

That would not be the only big play of the night. Two minutes after the score UGA posted up a big run of their own thanks to Soph. Runningback Adam Jefferson who broke off a 56Yd run for the score. [24-22] It would not be football if we did not see more big plays. Back-up running back Kevin Owens saw the field and put in the work scoring on two run plays. One which went for 57Yds and the other went for just 1Yd. Talk about having a 1-2 punch in the backfield. [38-22] The final quarter began and UGA's runningback Jefferson busted out a huge run play that went 23 Yds for the score. [38-28] Five minutes later in the game Georgia would find another opportunity to score once again thanks to Jr. Receiver Rhett McGowan. [38-35] The Hurricanes knew it was either score now to put the game out of reach or run out the call. Miami choose to go for the score and that what they did. QB Williams made some big plays through the air connecting with freshman Robert Golden. Williams then found Sophomore Tight end Trevor Hill in the back of the endzone for the score which pretty much ended the game for Georgia. [45-35]

great team preview, looks like your defense will be the weak link. That freshman qb looks like he'll be a stud.

Nice win over Georgia.
