Game Notes
Week 1 gave us an exciting match up. Let's hope week 2 does the same thing, this week we have the Hurricanes traveling to south Carolina to take on the gamecock. Miami looks to try and make it 2-0 in the first weeks of the season while the gamecocks looks to open the season with a W. This will be Coach Golden first ranked opponent as the head coach of the "U". Can he make it back to back wins on the road or will South Carolina show the canes' how football is played?

Re: Miami Hurricanes: Decades of Dominance

Southern Shootout!

Columbia, SC
- The canes make another statement on the road. This time in Columbia, South Carolina. It was a shootout from start to finish and the fan really enjoyed every second of the game. Miami are making a statement " The swag is back!" The canes' beat the gamecocks 40-35.

It was a shootout down south, as the gamecocks welcomed the hurricanes to Williams-brace Stadium for their season opener. South Carolina Gamecocks opened up the season on offensive but that didn't last long, as Gracia was INT by Junior Ray Ray Armstrong [See Video below]

Miami took advantage of the INT and went down field thanks in part to their running game only to post up a field goal (3-0). Only the second game into the season and jacory could be on the hot seat soon, as he throws a pick-6 (See Video below) to let South Carolina take the lead. [3-7] If Jacory doesn't pick up his game soon the offensive could be in trouble for the rest of the season.

Miami offensive looks like they still need alot of work especially at the Quarterback position. The running game on the other had look even better then last week as both Lamar miller and Mike James combined for 389 yd. Mike James was able to get time on the field and used that time to bring the canes' back for the lead [10-7]. That joy didn't last for long as the main focus of Miami defense was to stop Alshon Jeffery but that clearly didn't work out. Jeffery was able to catch the ball 6 times for 126 yards and 1 touchdown that came late in the 1st quarter (See Picture Below) [10-14].

The hurricanes scored 17 [27-14] unanswered points in the 2nd quarter before Senior QB Jacory Harris left the game with a mild concussion. He was like a ragged doll out their getting sacked 3 times and only completing 3-10 passes for 46 yards. Enter Sophomore Stephen Morris.

Big Hit of the game

The Gamecocks brought the heat down after down on poor Morris. He couldn't get anything done offensively going 0-3. The Gamecocks finally answered back with an 80 yd touchdown run by Marcus Lattimore [27-21]. This kid saw the hole his offensive line gave him and never looked back to break the NCAA record for the longest rushing yard. With no passing attack and South Carolina stacking the box on Lamar miller. The hurricanes struggled to score in the early part of the 3rd quarter and to make matters worse for them...Stephen Morris goes down with an injury to keep him out of the game. Garcia was able to put together a nice long drive that ended in a touchdown to take the lead [27-28].

Now down to the backup's backup at Quarterback. Spencer Whipple comes onto the field and was able to put together a nice drive that send the canes' down the field to score (34-28). The pressure was on for Garcia and the gamecocks as they were able to score to take the lead late in the game (34-35). It would be Miami's Kicker Jake Wieclaw that seals the win for the canes' with two clutch field goals. [40-35]

[^ Have to be my favorite highlight so far lol]

Next week Miami @ Tennessee

Kirk - Tennessee

Theirs nothing else like the college football season. After two weeks of nail-biting games and hard hits. It will only get bit by bit better as we find out who wants that National Championship! This week we bring you an interesting matchup between the Hurricanes of Miami Vs Tennessee Volunteers. Miami has been on the road for two weeks straight and has been getting the job done in what are some of the closes game anyone has seen yet. They come into this game rank (#2)in Rushing offense with Lamar Miller & Mike James. Going against a Tennessee defense that rank in the top 25 in total defense shouldn't be easy. This should be an interesting match between these two teams! Stay tuned in on ESPN360 to find out who win!
